Chapter 2909: Chapter 2909: Human Experimentation (3)

The ghosts knew they had encountered a formidable enemy. If they continued, they might only end up surrendering. So, they decided to retreat, and an urgent and rhythmic clucking sound soon followed.

"We can’t let them escape," Yang Ruxin shouted, realizing that the clucking sound was a signal, likely for retreat.

Gu Qingheng leaped over and struck the ghost that had made the sound with his palm.

The ghost hurriedly raised its hand to grab Gu Qingheng’s, but before it could make contact, a huge force hit it, leaving no time to react.

With a loud bang, the ghost was sent flying, crashing to the ground, and in the process, it hit another ghost, causing both to hit the ground together.

Both ghosts let out wails of pain.

"Ghosts feel pain too?" Lun Dou’s mouth formed an ’O’ shape.

"Haha, they’re fake ghosts," Huang Dou laughed, covering his mouth.

By this time, Gu Qiao and the others had subdued most of the ghosts, only two managed to escape, disappearing underground using ninjutsu.

"Oh, Saint Lord, come out, please," Yang Ruxin approached, raising her voice, "Stop putting on this mysterious act, it’s pointless."

But after waiting for a long time, no one appeared.

Meanwhile, Gu Qiao and the others had stripped the clothes off the ghosts, discovering that the people were standing on pieces of wood, like stilts, that were adjustable. This allowed them to change height, concealed by long black robes, making it hard for the average person to notice the trick and only feel spooked.

"So they really are human," Lun Dou looked disappointed, "I thought they were real ghosts."

"No worries, keep searching, you’ll eventually find one or two real ghosts," Huang Dou patted Lun Dou’s shoulder.

Lun Dou nodded.

The two beans decided that they’d wander around grave mounds when they had no other plans.

If others knew of this idea, they’d probably be scared to death.

Yang Ruxin walked up to one of the men and looked down at him: "I’ve seen you before."

The man widened his eyes in surprise, but quickly averted his gaze.

"On the ship," Yang Ruxin smiled a bit, "You were next to the Saint Lord." She pointed at her own eye, "Because you have a black mole here, and it can’t be covered even when masked."

The man’s gaze returned to Yang Ruxin, but his lips curled up slightly.

"I know you have backbone and don’t want to talk," Yang Ruxin pulled out a silver needle, "But I don’t necessarily need to hear; after all, your ship is destroyed, you can’t return. Your Saint Lord’s money is gone, and his followers are disappearing one by one. Soon enough, he might end up on the streets, and by then, I won’t even need to lift a finger." She pulled out a bottle and dipped the needle inside, "But your existence can let me test my poison."

The man’s face changed.

"It’s a new type, so please do the honors as a live test subject," Yang Ruxin said, piercing the silver needle coated in poison into the back of the man’s hand.

The man’s face turned pale as he tried to struggle, but having his acupoints sealed, he couldn’t move. He didn’t want to speak, but the sensation on his hand made him extremely fearful: "You..."

"Shh," Yang Ruxin put a finger to her lips, "It’s reacting."

The man’s gaze fell on the back of his hand, his eyes nearly bulging out.
