Chapter 2921: Chapter 2921: Saint Lord, Calm Your Anger (5)
The courtyard next door had almost the same layout as the Du Family’s: the front two-thirds were all kinds of smaller yards, and the back third was a big garden.
"Wife, where do you think we should start investigating?" Gu Qingheng leaned close to Yang Ruxin’s ear and asked softly.
Yang Ruxin’s ear felt itchy, and she hurriedly turned her head to push him away. "Stop fooling around."
Gu Qingheng just laughed and gave Yang Ruxin’s ear a little bite.
"You hooligan." Yang Ruxin cursed under her breath. "I’ll send Xiaolun to scout around."
Xiaolun shot out with a whoosh.
About a quarter of an hour later, Xiaolun came back.
"There’s a smell of blood in that room over there." Yang Ruxin pointed to the side.
"Let’s go take a look." Gu Qingheng said, slipping an arm around his wife’s waist, then swept over in a flash.
"This room doesn’t look like the master’s quarters." Once they were above that room, Yang Ruxin frowned.
"Wait here, I’ll go down and check." Gu Qingheng patted Yang Ruxin’s back.
Yang Ruxin nodded.
Gu Qingheng’s skills now were on par with Ming Guang’s; there were basically few people who could be his match. So if he wanted to move around without a sound, those guards really had no way of noticing.
The person in this room was indeed injured, but it wasn’t the Saint Lord—just that black-clad subordinate of his.
"Looks like my guess was right." Yang Ruxin chuckled, rubbing her chin. "That Saint Lord is definitely in the Cui Family too."
"But he certainly wouldn’t stay in a regular room. There’s probably a hidden tunnel or secret chamber or something." Gu Qingheng nodded. "If we could track down the previous owner of that estate, that’d be best. They’d definitely know the layout of this courtyard."
"And where would we go looking for them?" Yang Ruxin shook her head. "Though we could split up and work from two directions."
"Smart as always." Gu Qingheng stole another kiss.
"Damn right." Yang Ruxin pinched Gu Qingheng’s waist. "Come on, let’s check out the main courtyard."
Gu Qingheng took his wife and headed for the roof of the main courtyard. On the way, he dealt with two Hidden Guards, and as for the guards below, they could be completely ignored.
In the bamboo house, the old Master Cui was talking with his son. Nothing special, just business—plans to buy estates and shops in the next few days; looked like he was going to get into the silk trade.
After listening for quite a while and hearing nothing useful, the two had no choice but to head back.
But after they left, the old Master Cui in the room suddenly grabbed the teapot on the table and smashed it.
The Young Master Cui sitting at his level was so startled he dropped to his knees with a thud. "Please calm your anger, Saint Lord."
"I must leave this place within three days."
This old Master Cui was precisely the Saint Lord who’d been injured earlier.
"Yes." The Young Master Cui hurriedly responded. "Your subordinate has already sent a message to the Young Master."
"Enough, I’m tired." The Saint Lord rose as he spoke and limped off to the back hall to rest. After all, he was posing as the old Master Cui now, and Yang Ruxin had never seen his true face, so there was no need to skulk around in hiding.
Meanwhile, up in the sky over the Quanzhou Suburbs, a fierce battle of eagles was underway.
Xiaohei had ruled the known airspace as king for many years, never expecting to run into a real rival today. One look and you could tell that guy wasn’t a Central Plains breed. This was an invading foreign enemy—had to be eliminated.
The other black eagle was pretty depressed. It hadn’t seized anyone’s territory or stolen anyone’s prey, so why wouldn’t this guy let it go? Looking for a fight, huh? Bring it on—who’s afraid of who?
