The First Legendary Beast Master

Chapter 1926 Welcome Elder

Chapter 1926 Welcome Elder

With the Clan Leader's assurance, Rue felt much more relaxed about the prospect of letting her goods make it outside the Guild.

In very limited quantities.

She also had gifts for Karl and the others. The weapons and items that she had made for them, but those could wait until after the ceremony so that it didn't look like she was trying to embarrass the other Elders by showing up the gifts that they had brought to welcome the new Elders.

There were traditions for what gifts were given, she knew.

Ones that were valuable enough to be pleasantly accepted, and usually related to the skills or specialization of the Elder.

Ones who liked to go out hunting would bring hunting tools, ones who specialized in fire would gift a fire element resource, unless the new Elder was an Ice or Water element.

That sort of tradition.

Karl and Dana took the time to shower and change before they came out of their room on the third floor, and joined the Elders, who were currently enjoying the herbal tea that Remi had prepared for Rue.

It was designed to help revitalize mental focus and mana, a tonic for crafters.

But it was also pleasant tasting, unlike most alchemical concoctions.

If you added ingredients to improve the flavour, you ruined the potion at worst, diluted it at best. But this was just tea, it wasn't meant to be strong.

Karl and Dana both came out in Fox form, and the Elders began to laugh as they stepped into the room.

"It has happened! The Green Dragons have corrupted the Karl, and he has joined team fluff," The Brewmaster laughed.

Karl wrapped half his tails around Dana. "I recently gained a new skill, and thought that it might be the most appropriate one that I had for formal outfits. It's great, isn't it?"

The Clan Elders shrugged. "We can't say that it's not a great skill. But is that the sort of skill that everyone can learn? I sense great advantages to being a Divine Fox." Elder Malcolm asked.

He was the sea trading Elder, and when most of his business was with rough and careful merchants, the subtle lure of [Fox Charm] could go a long way to getting him more favourable terms.

It might not be a large benefit, as everyone would be on guard against it. But even a small bonus to his negotiation skills would make the Clan a fantastic amount of profit every year.

Karl shrugged. "I will make a book for you later. It's just a targeted form of [Beast Form] which is a common grade skill. You're not likely to get the nine-tailed version that I did, but even an average Foxkin has a bit of charm."

Karl heard a few of the Elders complain about "Business Ethics", but Elder Malcolm shared no such qualms.

Before they could get sidetracked by Karl's personal idiosyncrasies, Clan Leader Nerissa brought the topic back on track.

"Karl, Dana, we have come today to welcome you as Elders of the Clan.

Your contributions to the New Home Merchant Clan, and your outstanding power growth have marked you as prodigies among prodigies, and it would be our honour if you would accept the Clan tag of Elder.

The duties of an Elder are many, but none of them are new to you.

We would name you Crafting Elders of the New Home Merchant Clan, tasked with overseeing the production of trade goods."

Dana smiled. That really was the easiest task they could have given the pair of them, as they were doing it already, in their position as the leaders of this branch of the Darklight Host.

"Thank you, Clan Leader. It is our honour to accept this title." Karl and Dana replied in unison.

Karl sent a System Message as a warning, then pulled the other Immortals from the Tiny World out to join them in the Guild Hall. Many of them had not been introduced to the Clan yet, but they were all Darklight Host members.

"Honoured Elders, while we are the newest of your ranks, we have prepared a small celebratory feast. On our recent travels, we have obtained an upgraded version of Mystic Cooking, and we are just about to distribute it among our Guild Members now."

First, Karl taught the new cooking skill to Hawk, then Lotus, before spreading it through the other cooks in the Guild.

They all perked up as the knowledge of Journeyman level Divine Cooking was spread to them, which came with a base of what the skill considered "simple recipes".

Karl handed Lotus a cookbook with a smile. "I will need that back so that I can have copies made. So, do try not to spill anything on it."

Lotus immediately handed the book to one of the Obsession Demons, who waved her hand and instantly copied the book with [Inscription] and [Accelerated Writing], a skill that she had managed to learn on her own.

Now they had a duplicate to work from, and Lotus gave the original back.

"Fear not, there will be food. But first, the feast that we already had prepared. Do we even have enough seats?"

Opal laughed at the concept. There weren't even three hundred of them here. She could turn a broom closet into a large enough dining hall for that, and she had the whole second floor of the Guild House available.

Their surroundings shimmered, and the room turned into a massive banquet hall, complete with an Elven band, dancers on pedestals overhead, or twirling from silk banners hung from the ceiling.

It looked like a proper Royal Banquet from the Elven Cities, and Karl briefly wondered what Opal had been up to in her spare time.

But the Elders' shock was only intensified when the construct working the shop led a group of Dark Elves in sailing leathers and silk up to the party.

"Lord Karl, these Captains have come to talk business. I informed them of the situation, and they requested to join the celebration," The Pet Sitter explained.

The room shifted subtly, and Karl saw that some of the Forest Elves had been replaced with blue Elves in the band, and the tune had become a lively sea shanty.

At that point, everyone knew that the formal ceremony was abandoned, and they were going to party instead.
