The First Legendary Beast Master

Chapter 1948 That Kills The Fun

Chapter 1948 That Kills The Fun

Karl quickly swapped out his accessories for ones that added elemental damage on hit, and granted him extra health.

Between the two rings, two bracelets, amulet and earrings, which he usually didn't wear, Karl managed to add 120 Percent of his base health pool, plus 1800 Percent of his base skill damage as fire, lightning and holy element damage combined.

Add his [Bestial Raiment] armour spell, so nothing got damaged, and he was ready for a proper fight.

The door burst open, and a moderately injured human Supreme, who appeared to be in his younger years, stumbled inside with a pair of police golems right behind him.

"I issue a Guild Challenge. Branch Leader to Branch Leader."

[BOO this man! Boo!] Rae complained.

[You're still allowed to kill them while we duel, right?]

[No, the system says it's against the rules. Plus, there are spectators coming.]

Karl sighed. "Fine, if you want a duel, then we can duel. It's not really my specialty, but I'm sure that I can find someone to wash the filth off the bottom of my boots after the fight."

One of the customers snickered as he heard the insult, while the Branch Leader looked ready to explode.

"Where are my Elders?"

"You were too slow. I gave them to the Priestesses to interrogate. Good luck getting them back intact. But should that really be your concern? If you ask nicely, there is still a chance that I will leave you alive after the duel," Karl offered.

The absolute gall of this man was enough to shock the Supreme into silence.

Was he not supposed to be the one here issuing threats? And why was the Branch Leader not the Supreme who had activated the Gargoyles outside? Was it just an ancestral formation that they were relying on for defence?

He had been assured when he came here that they would be able to lure out the war criminal hiding in the region if they started attacking the newly formed Guilds first.

She had to be here somewhere, the League had assured him it was true.

Plus, the seer had assured them that the blind Elf known as "Girl" was here, and the Clan Leader wanted her for her Soul Sight abilities. The girl would make a wonderful guardian with her ability to see the invisible.

All she needed was a bit of training.

Still, the point of this wasn't to start some unnecessary war, it was to find the war criminal the Valalan League had been hunting for. He had been paid well to come start trouble here, intending to flush her out.

But that didn't mean this much trouble.

Whatever.

Once he finished with this upstart Immortal, he would sell the land back to one of the local Clans, and make a profit off it. Perhaps he could even still complete the mission while he was here?

Karl made a grand gesture toward the door.

"Follow me outside, we have an arena for this sort of thing. Can't let the Guild miss out on the fun."

The Supreme let out a mocking laugh as Karl led the way, and only laughed harder as he realized that there were multiple Supremes with pitying looks on their faces waiting for the pair to pass.

What he didn't notice was that the pity was directed at him.

[Is that armour going to be enough?] Rue asked through the Guild messages as Karl approached the arena.

[More than enough. I've hit the damage reduction cap with 30 percent of my health ignored on every hit. The chances that he can actually injure me are pretty low unless he's got a skill that can deal direct damage.]

Karl knew of a few skills like that, ones that could ignore damage reduction. But they were not common skills by any means, and even the majority of the Supremes would not have heard of them, much less learned them.

When Karl walked directly onto the stone floor of the arena, the Guild Leader of the Divine Fist Devils began to sense that something was seriously wrong.

That confidence didn't suggest that this was a man about to die. But even with an Epic Grade constitution, he didn't see how Karl could possibly deal enough damage to overcome his regeneration.

So, there was only one way that this could possibly end, and that was in defeat for the Darklight Host.

Lady Nerissa landed on the pillar where the referee's seat was, and smiled down at the contestants.

"In the matter of the Divine Fist Devils versus the Darklight Host, I will officiate. No outside force may contest the results, nor interfere with the fighters. No precast spells are detected, and none will be allowed.

Champions, begin your duel."

With the assistance of the Pack Leader, Nerissa raised the barrier over the arena, sealing them inside, and Karl instantly launched into action.

His barriers came up, including the new [Forest Protection] barrier from Skadi, and then Karl activated the [Blade of Divine Wrath].

The power of the spell surged out, driving the majority of the spectators to their knees, while Karl launched forward in the most brutal of opening attacks he had learned from the [Death Dance] combat style.

His opponent, for what it was worth, was incredibly agile, and managed to parry the first two attacks.

But then his sword broke.

Before he could equip another, the next strike hit him in the chest, and blood flew in an arc behind the blade, staining the barrier as the Supreme retreated.

That had nearly split him in half.

No, this was wrong, all wrong. What sort of skill was that Immortal using that was bypassing his damage reduction?

He activated [Energy Blade] and parried another attack, then replaced the shattered sword and continued to fight off the seemingly berserk man coming after him with that terrifying blade in his hands.

At this point, even Rae was impressed with Karl's level of violence.

The blade flashed through the air, each strike aimed to cripple the opponent with repeated minor injuries, as Karl knew that the sword itself would lend enough Tribulation Damage to kill most weaker targets.

But it wasn't bypassing the Blessing of the Supreme. It was just dealing such a large amount of damage that his opponent thought it was.
