Chapter 1962 Creative Juices
Chapter 1962 Creative Juices
While Karl had suggested the new training method, he had not thought far enough ahead to have one of his own planned that would work for the contest.
So, they were all starting form scratch, and they all had very different ideas of what an effective training regimen should look like.
Thor was convinced that they didn't put enough effort into training their bodies, and that some physical training would do them a world of good. If they improved their strength, it would improve all their physical damage bonuses, and allow even their magic specialists to use much more physical tactics.
Plus, it would be good for crafting large objects, or working with heavy utensils, like when Remi wanted to mix a larger batch of thick potion and had to recruit her bodyguards.
The reasoning behind it was solid from the start, but now Thor had to think up a method of physical training that they hadn't done before to make it qualify for the contest. But what hadn't they done?
They had lifted heavy things, which was the easiest way to train strength. And they had swung heavy weapons too. That was both of his favourite methods covered.
So, he was going to have to get more creative.
While Thor worked his brain to come up with the best physical training method, Remi was making a comprehensive list of all the potentially beneficial potions that they had come up with for the Alchemy Hall.
That was a method that they hadn't tried yet, as most of the potions and pills were designed for other types of Systems, where you didn't get the same sort of natural growth simply by using your skills.
So, with some dedicated chemical enhancement, they could definitely make the whole group quite a bit stronger, and they might even manage to pick up some new skills in the process.
Some of the effects were known to awaken latent bloodlines and hidden abilities, after all.
Rae thought that they should do stealth training.
They had trained for many things over their time, but they had never really done any sort of proper wilderness training other than survival, and the only stealth they knew was heavy stealth.
If there are no survivors, there are no witnesses.
It was a good tactic, but there were times that they could cut down on the time taken to get to the fun part if they could just stealth better. Karl could even use all her stealth abilities, and he still didn't know a thing about stealth.
If they put some time into improving that, they would be able to fight all their battles from an advantageous position.
Tian was taking the task in a much less serious direction.
They had never properly trained their grooming techniques, had they? There were scales to polish, fur to brush, feathers to preen. If they spent some time mastering new grooming technique, just think of how much more beautiful the whole group could be.
Nobody wanted to hurt the cute things.
Though, now that he thought about it, people did keep trying to steal the Dana Mage now that she had become adorable. Perhaps there were drawbacks to his plan?
That was fine. If it was all of them, she wouldn't stand out any more.
Plus, how cool would it be to see Cara with all her fur pointing in one direction, all freshly brushed and gleaming? That would definitely count as a new thing.
Cara, who was laying on her mountain of loot, trying to scry the most entertaining possible outcome, but mostly ending up with mid season sports highlights played by species she had never seen, laughed at Tian's optimism.
She was a chaos badger. No amount of brushing would get her fur to lie flat and behave. Grooming magic couldn't even make the hair of her human form behave, much less her natural badger form.
Hawk didn't want new practice, he wanted to bring back the classics with a bit of a twist. A variation on the classic "Water Ball Destroyer" game from his childhood.
Karl likely wouldn't be too picky about the level of uniqueness to the propositions, and the rest of the team hadn't played the game, so it would count for all of them. Which meant that he was right, and they should all be practicing their ability to destroy the water element without letting any of the other attacks hit the target.
Dana was seriously considering breaking out the old textbooks to make them all do some critical thinking exercises, since it was abundantly clear that not only had they never practiced them, most of the team was entirely unfamiliar with the term.
Forget about analyzing a situation before they caused it, they didn't even bother to consider the fallout after they had already finished.
That thought made Skadi laugh.
It was the most accurate description of the group's tactics that she had heard so far. Even when the Karl decided to duel, he didn't ask for time to prepare, or gather more witnesses, or even make a plan for the negotiations after.
He just made gear on the spot and hoped that it worked out for the best, and everyone else accepted that was how things worked.
Leo did not have an easy time of this mission.
He didn't even know what he should be training. There was the choice of combat, or crafting skills, or some sort of life skill they had neglected, but he did those in school, so they had to be eliminated from what counted as new.
But his natural form was starting to get bigger now. Not yet to adolescence when it would skyrocket in size. But large enough that he could start considering how he was going to start forming the city on his back.
It was part of his innate magic, as a False Island Giant Turtle.
Normally, it just appeared as overgrown ruins, made of the same sort of stone that his shell was. But there were more options, since he had skills available. He could add illusions, and separate spaces, and defensive wards, and so much more.
But how did you train for that? And would that even count, since nobody else would need or want to do it?
