Chapter 1966 Nobody Wants The Job
Chapter 1966 Nobody Wants The Job
Karl nodded in acceptance. "Well, then I suppose that I should take you all into the branch. I suspect that at least one of you will likely want to challenge for branch leadership in the future, as you're more powerful than I am by a fair margin.
I can assure you that I won't object too vocally."
Louie laughed. "Oh no, you don't. You're not pawning that workload off on us."
"Well, I must say that the Guild really was generous. The only thing that they didn't send us was another blacksmith to help with new recipes."
"Oh, I can help with that. My blacksmithing skills might not be at the level of a prime blacksmith in the Guild, but I have centuries of experience at the forge making items for Blood Arrays.
You see, most Blood Arrays need to be set into a specific sort of item, so basic crafting is included in the trade skill. I use it for making buildings and fortifications, but I can also do metal weapons and armour, while Luminaria can make all the wooden and organic items that you might need.
Not as good as the Divine Smith who made some of the items in the front shop there, but I have experience."
Karl smiled. "Tian will be happy to hear that you praise his skills. He doesn't like actually working in the forge, he just likes being useful."
"Clean freak?" Oak asked, her green eyes showing her curiosity.
"Yes. Stonefur Divine Fox, but he hates getting dirt or soot in his fur."
Leon shrugged. "Understandable. I hate having to clean debris from my wings. That's why I put them away most of the time. You have no idea how long it takes to feel clean again after you get blood on your feathers.
Even with magic, it just doesn't feel clean."
So, the Seraphim was also against messy battles, even though he was a Holy Crusader, a melee combat class.
The Darklight Host really did attract oddballs.
{Branch Leader Karl offers a Branch Transfer}
{Accepted} x6
"Well now, I can safely say that the Darklight Host is the most powerful single Guild on the Continent. Even most of the Alliances couldn't boast as many Supreme Ranked members as we have, and crafting Clans are exceedingly rare on this world.
We've been doing business with the Blue Elves, and everyone is eager to get their hands on anything that they can." Karl announced.
Louie chuckled. "This world really is trash. No offence. But I can see why we were sent. Oak has a whole Library with her to help build up the Guild's Library. Not Skill Books, but we do have a lot of related knowledge.
Do you have someone who can make skill books, other than yourself, as a Runemaster?"
Karl nodded. "The other Runecrafters I trained can do it. I have [Follow Me, Little One] to transfer skills. But I also have the [Skill Book] skill, so I can make copies of skills that I know.
More limited than a real Inscriptionist, but good enough for general purposes."
"Alright, I think that covers the basics that the Guild needs. But I don't sense as many people as the Guild should have. There are Lycans in town, and a few others, mostly Elves and bunnies. However, I see in the branch list that there are many others."
"Oh, they're in my Tiny World. We use it as a second base and growing space. I've put significant effort into making it suitable for growing magical plants, and with Skadi taking care of the forests, it's been getting even better."
"So, that's why you haven't started to improve the territory around the city, and opted to leave it as wilderness? Because you already had a growing area?"
Karl nodded. "Exactly. If people don't realize that we're producing almost all our own resources for the lower grade items, they're not going to ask questions about our pricing, or the actual member count of the branch.
The Lycans like the wilderness, and they give us enough presence in the area that nobody is trying to take our territory.
I suppose that there will be questions now, though.
Bringing this many new Supreme Ranked members in will alert the other Clans in the area. There are no native Guilds here, only ones that came from other worlds. This world's system only allows them to form Clans and Sects."
The new members weren't concerned. It was basically different names for the same thing, though Guilds tended to be more like Sects, in that they usually shared a common focus, while Clans were more of a regional force.
The name that the System assigned made little practical difference to them, though you could be in both a Guild and a Clan or Sect at the same time, but not both a Sect and a Clan.
"Now that you're branch members, there are a few skills that I would like to see if you can use, if you don't already have them. I think that either Oak or Luminaria should be able to use the [Army of Nature's Vengeance], while Andrea might be able to use one of the Demonic Cultivation Manuals that we've obtained.
I don't know how your System advances, but it seems like the sort of thing you might be able to use. None of the Obsession Demons in the Tiny World could, but you're an assassin, and they're not."
Karl offered Andrea the {Demonic Cultivation Manual} Unholy God's Path of Eternal Destruction.
The demon took it, turned it over in her hands, and then shook her head.
"It's incompatible with my System as well. I think it's only for certain types of Systems that require you to actively train inner power. I progress the same way that you do, with practice, not cultivation and resource intake.
But it does look like it's a good one. Perhaps the others will be able to use the summoning spell?"
Karl shrugged, and realized that he would have to use [Follow Me, Little One], as he couldn't conveniently make that spell into a book.
Epic Grade skills were a pain to write out.
{Pet Sitter Karl Grants Knowledge} [Army of Nature's Vengeance] will be granted to Tree Fort Artisan Oak.
{Pet Sitter Karl Grants Knowledge} [Army of Nature's Vengeance] will be granted to the misguided child of the White Dragon, Luminaria.
"You know, that spell would be much more popular if it refrained from insulting people every time you activated it," Luminaria complained.
It did make Karl wonder what she had done that the Gods called her misguided, though.
