Chapter 1978 Free For Allies

Chapter 1978 Free For Allies

"We can call a few of our Elders over to do the testing. They've been stuck for more than a century, so they should be willing to take a chance to get progression started again. None of them are Peak Immortals, so we won't be able to tell if it can help with Supremacy, but it should be enough information for your tests."

Remi shrugged all her shoulders. "{ That's fine. It won't help with Supremacy anyhow. That bottleneck is different. }"

The Elder paused for a moment while he sent a message, then there was a knock at the door.

"The Elders in question are already here. We heard that there was a party, so we brought the whole mining team to come meet the Elders of the other Clans in the region," he explained.

"So that's how we ended up with so many people here. I knew that they couldn't all be Clan Leaders." Oak realized.

"Well, we do tend to be short on parties. Everyone seems to keep to themselves for the most part, so we don't get out and meet people often enough." The Yizimon Elder laughed.

Any excuse for a party.

[Perhaps these allies are suitable to work with the Darklight Host, they at least understand the basics.] Oak joked in Guild Chat.

That was a Green Dragon fundamental as well. There was never a bad reason to hold a celebration. You just had to frame it the right way, and all events could be celebrated.

Someone died? Celebration of life. Half the Clan dead? The other half survived.

It was all in the attitude.

Three women from the Yizimon Clan entered the room, all dressed in gowns suitable to a formal party.

"Elders, the Darklight Host is willing to help you break your bottleneck. They don't have the specific medicine that you have been looking for, but their Alchemists believe that they have an alternate that will work. It's been developed to have a similar effect, without the extremely rare materials.

Logically, that likely means it's not as strong. However, as it's an experimental medicine, they're willing to allow you to try them free of charge."

Those were magical words.

When most Elders would have to empty their savings and possibly sell off treasures to find the miracle cure that would break their bottleneck, being able to get them for free was too good to pass up.

Even if the effects were limited, they might still break the bottleneck, or get so close to it that they would be able to do it themselves.

Rarely would an Alchemy recipe cause long-term damage at this level. The body would simply shrug off most failed concoctions, and the System would tell them if there were nasty side effects when the potion or pill was created.

That was one of the greatest things about the System.

Once you made a successful item, it would tell viewers what the thing was supposed to do, and usually, what the chance of failure and negative effects were. So, when Remi brought out the potion, everyone could see that it was not terribly dangerous.

{Remi's Potion of Ascendancy} Epic Grade. Significant Chance to break bottlenecks and cause advancements in the Ascended Immortal stage. Failure may cause uncontrollable digestive issues for up to 24 hours.

The Immortals stared at the potion, weighing the options.

"Should we take this while on the toilet, just in case?"

Remi laughed, "{ It wouldn't be a wrong choice, but if it works, that might not be the bottleneck breaking moment that you want to share with the world. }"

The Naga had a point. If this worked they were going to be telling the story to their Disciples for many years. And nobody wanted to admit to their juniors that they were so concerned about the side effects that they had preventatively sat on the toilet.

"Alright, I will try the potion. Even if it's not enough to break the bottleneck, it's worth the risk."

The other two Elders nodded their agreement. "We will also try the potion."

"{ That is wonderful news. Coincidentally, I happen to have three bottles of it with me right now, so there is no need to wait to give it a try. Here you are, and you and you. Now, would you like to do them all at once? Or one after another?

I have recording equipment, so I won't miss anything for my test notes. }"

The three Elders considered the options.

If they went all at once, they didn't have the suspense of seeing what happened to the others, either good or bad. But if they took turns, they had the chance to stop if something went horribly wrong with one of the others.

No, they would trust the System to tell them if this potion was a failed creation.

After a few seconds, they had come to a conclusion, the waiting would be too much to bear.

"Alright, on the count of three. One, two..."

The Elders downed the potions as Remi took out a custom notepad stand so that she could write with all four hands at the same time. That was the only way for her note-taking to keep up with her thoughts, and in this case, the three different sets of events.

All three of the Elders surged with power as the potion flowed through their mana veins, and each of them began to sweat profusely.

At first, it was just sweat. Then what looked like a black sludge, before turning to a thin golden glowing liquid oozing from every pore. Their clothing was soaked, and that black liquid appeared to be corrosive, as one of the Elder's dresses was sizzling faintly, while the others were high enough quality to survive the toxicity.

"{ Success! All three have advanced at least a little bit, so I'm pretty sure that they broke through the bottleneck, and it cleansed out most of the impurities in their bodies, just like the original recipe was supposed to do.

But maybe we really should have people drink this one in the shower?

It's a bit hard on clothing, those stains are going to be hell to remove. }"
