Chapter 1983 Every Way To Know
Chapter 1983 Every Way To Know
Compared to the others, Opal had found a completely wild sort of trial.
Her trial was not focused on her personal growth, she was training her knowledge. Like Dana, she had picked the third trial, but her decision was largely driven by the fact that Tessa had picked the third trial, and Opal was sitting on her shoulder.
So, she just went with the flow.
Opal's trial was entirely focused on Dreamcloth creation and fashion.
It was amazing.
She had the skill, and she had the materials provided by the trial, plus thousands of books, designs, and patterns right at her fingertips.
The System only had one direction.
{Create One New Design using Dreamcloth}
It had seemed like the simplest trial in the world when she first started. She had thought of a really cool dress for herself, using these top grade materials. But when she finished the sketch, a design flew down from the upper shelves, and opened in front of her to show exactly the dress that she wanted to make.
So, it wasn't just "Make something new to you" it was "Make something new to the trial" and that was an entirely different standard.
There was limited time, so she would never be able to read all the design plans that were available in this space. She had to find a way to come up with something new without knowing everything about everything.
And that meant theory.
If she went through the basic design theory books for every section of this fashion library, she would be able to guess at what was here and what was not.
If a design was too far from what the others had put in their fundamental books, it was unlikely to be in the design logs for the trial. And that would be her chance to make something wonderful, while learning all about how the others who came before her thought of fashion.
Most of the books appeared to be made by Elves, as the designs were made for that sort of lithe body.
But a few of them were clearly made for multiple armed demons, and even Seraphim.
Trying not to get too caught up in the basics, while learning as much as possible about the fashions of other Dreamcloth Tailors, was a fine balancing act that Opal was pretty sure that she had mastered.
She would gain the knowledge that her illusions gained. What they learned, she knew. What they saw, she saw.
So, she had sent a thousand copies of herself through the room to gather as much knowledge as possible, and it was still not enough to make it through the designs in anything resembling a reasonable time frame.
If she didn't know better, she would think that this place held every design ever made with the skill.
It was glorious.
Rae, contrary to what the spider had been hoping for, was not learning about fashion or combat. Instead, she had stepped into a trial that was focused on stealth skills. All that she had to do was to sneak into a secure location and touch the target object to complete the trial.
The first few had gone smoothly, using [Ghost Body] to simply phase through the doors and enter the room without alerting anyone.
The third one she had to use [Night Haunter] to get past the guards.
The fourth step had given her a bit of a twist and had put the target object out in the open with guards all around it. That required a level of stealth as well as misdirection. She didn't know whether they had soul sight or some other skill that would bypass her usual stealth skills, so she had to lure them away from the target without coming into their line of sight.
That was not as easy as it sounded, and she was having a great time.
And then there was Tian.
His trial was musical in nature, and he had spent the entire first thirty minutes simply playing songs with the constructs that the trial had created, instead of actually doing the trial part of the job and layering one of his skills with theirs.
He would get to it soon, but he didn't see any reason why they couldn't have a little dance party first.
Everyone took trials far too seriously. You would get a reward for doing well, but if you weren't enjoying yourself, were you really getting everything that you could out of the trial? In Tian's mind, probably not.
You should do the trial in the way that made you happiest, and only then would you get peak rewards.
Thor agreed, though he couldn't sense Tian's thoughts within the trial.
His trial was training him to combine [Consecrated Ground] with [Lightning Zone], which was primarily a trial of ways that he could stomp on the targets that it created.
Combining the skills, instead of using them together, was not as easy as it sounded. But the best way to test it was in his natural form with a stomping motion. Even the trial said so.
There were precious few chances for him to simply rampage around stomping on things these days, and the only thing that this trial was missing was a smashing post. Maybe he would get one in the next stage of the trial? He had gone through three steps so far, with each of them improving his skills.
So, there was a definite chance that he was going to get a smashing post soon, to train how to apply the new skill to his horns and have it explode on contact.
That would be absolutely wonderful.
Yewan had an entirely different conundrum. He had awakened his Class as a Black Dragon Cleric just that morning, and he had absolutely zero of the essential skills that the trial seemed to think that he should have.
Apparently, nobody programmed it for a curious hatchling.
He had started the first step with the objective of improving his [Resurrection] skill, which all Black Dragon clerics started their careers knowing. Then, after a mere forty-seven questions, the Trial had stopped answering him and had sent in a Demigod level black dragon lady to "tutor him and keep him on topic".
Her words, not his.
