Chapter 1989 Changes He Can't Make

In all the chaos of his progression, Karl had completely forgotten that the newly arrived Supreme Ranked members had not been given a proper tour of the Tiny World before they finished the trial.

They were all greatly enjoying the place, and they had even begun to make plans for upgrading and altering small sections to make them a bit more interesting. They had all been made by an Immortal, and there were some things that you simply couldn't make for use by people your own Rank.

The Trial Tower that had needed Rue's assistance for example.

But the training grounds could use a barrier upgrade, so that they needed less mana to upkeep, and many of the plant growth arrays were less than optimal, as they were at the same rank as the plants they were growing.

Even the hot springs in the mountains were slated to get an upgrade.

Leon had a holy gathering array planned, so that he could make one of the springs into a holy spa, similar to the pond in Thor's space, but with hot water. That would be amazing for all the holy Element creatures and the Clerics to recover in, and it would help their growth.

But first most of them needed to stabilize their powers.

Nachtia had actually made Immortal Rank within the trial, with her powers finally catching up to her body, which had adapted to the Tiny World.

The caretakers at the orphanage weren't far behind, but none of them had fully mastered their Fundamental Rule, so they were still stuck at Peak Mythic, the way that the bunnies had been for the longest time.

The longer that you lived in the Mortal World, the harder it was for your body to adapt to Immortality. And none of the orphanage workers were young dragons.

However, this new influx of members gave them hope.

With the changes to the Tiny World, and all the extra power, it felt easier for their minds to adapt to the concepts of Fundamental Rules, and they were absolutely certain they would make the final connections soon.

However, the biggest projects were for Lotus, Ophelia and Tessa.

They had all finally managed to stabilize their Immortal Spirits, and that meant that it was actually safe for them to go outside and start exploring. Which meant that it was time to formally introduce them to the New Home Merchant Clan, though the Darklight Host no longer needed to unroll their members in the Clan for safety.

The number of people who would challenge the Host were smaller than the number who might dare to challenge the New Home.

"Karl, it's good to see you back out of seclusion. I like what you've done with yourself," Oak joked.

"Thanks, I was worried that the remodel might be out of fashion."

The green dragon giggled and waved toward the mountains.

"We're doing some upgrades, I hope you don't mind. This place is linked to you, and you've done a wonderful job with it. I've not felt one with this strong of a trifecta in it for ages.

Life, Creation and Mana Manipulation, right? I sense a bit of chaos in there too, but that could just be because there is a badger nearby."

Karl nodded in agreement. "The rule of chaos isn't part of the Tiny World itself, it's just a result of the occupants. But it's actually necessary for many of our projects. If you've only got order, you can't get the plants to evolve properly.

They will always come back the same as the last ones.

But with a bit of chaos, things will grow and change, you just need to watch the balance so that it doesn't get to the point of creating unstable mutations, or unwanted side effects. Now that we've got some order related residents, it should stay stable."

"You have order?"

Oak giggled at her own joke, while Karl gave her a conspiratorial wink.

"Don't tell the badger, but her new sister is Order Aligned."

That made the dragon laugh even harder, and she turned her gaze toward the forest, where Skadi had replanted an entire group of Haint saplings into perfectly straight and evenly spaced rows.

"Alright, I admit, it might not be a secret."

There was only one small issue with Skadi replanting the Haints. The trees were not bound by their roots, and once the little Forest Lord was not paying attention, the saplings would move into groups to converse via root contact, or to shelter from the weather.

So, no matter how many times she moved them back, it was a losing battle.

The issue was that Skadi was trying to help them all grow into fully sentient Haints, and when they kept moving, she lost track of which one was which. So, she didn't know if she had evenly assisted all of them, and that uncertainty bothered her more than she was willing to admit.

"Did we experience any issues in the Trial? I had to stabilize my Constitution change, so I haven't had an opportunity to look." Karl asked.

Oak shook her head. "Nothing major. Everyone did pretty well, though some didn't get as much as they hoped for. The biggest winners should have been you and Luminaria. She got some new insight into her Divine Botany skill, and she's been holed up even longer than you, working on a new spell that will allow her to grow plants to the peak of Supreme Rank, with a chance to break through to Legendary.

That sort of thing would be huge for the Guild.

Most advancement and growth potions for Supremes need Legendary materials, but you can dilute the effects into a lesser version of the growth potion to use them on Immortals as well.

That sort of thing is what the leaders on the battlefield like to use to get young soldiers up to fighting strength."

Karl nodded. "While we might not be on the Divine Battlefields, it would be good for us to work on the strength of our members too. We don't want to fall behind the other branches, and if there is an emergency, we don't want them to laugh at us."

Oak smiled. "Exactly. If they're laughing, it should be with us, not at us."
