Chapter 2014 Plague Lord Got Buffs

Chapter 2014 Plague Lord Got Buffs

Finally, the Plague Lord's health was reaching zero, and the entire boss was on fire, but it's furious attacks at Carnage had not slowed.

Both Demons were covered in scars from the toxins on the whip that regular healing magic was not removing, not nature element healing anyhow.

Karl let a [Sacred Heal], Tian's greater healing spell, wash over them. That caused the scars and lingering wounds to vanish, and the two demons were back to looking as good as new, while the Plague Lord gasped his last.

The flames faded, leaving behind nothing but ash.

"Well, that's one boss down, two to go. How is everyone enjoying the dungeon run so far?" Karl asked.

"You're an asshole, you know that, right?

We damn near got party wiped with two swipes of that whip, and what the hell was with that lingering debuff? I've never seen anything like it before. I know that you cleansed us right away, and we thank you for that. But if it hadn't been for the Demons that paralysis would have let him wipe the whole group."

Karl nodded. "We definitely misjudged the tactic to fight that boss. We should have been spread in a full circle around him so that his attacks couldn't target more than one person at a time, with the two tanks standing together to assist.

Putting you all in the same spot let the whip attack hit everyone at the same time, and that was a disaster."

The warriors sighed as they realized he was right, it was a failure of tactics, not power.

If they hadn't been able to rely upon Carnage from the start, they would have realized very quickly that they needed to spread out. Assuming that they survived the first barrage of whip attacks.

Given how poorly that had gone, and the lingering effects of the attack, they might not have.

"Difficulty three is no joke. It wasn't even that we lacked damage, we're making good time through the dungeon. But one mistake with the mechanics nearly got us wiped out. The ease that we moved through the small mobs made us overconfident."

Karl smiled. "That does tend to happen. The constructs do an enormous amount of damage, and it makes things feel very easy at first, but that doesn't mean that there is no risk at all."

"Well, we shall take that into consideration for the next boss.

Now, what do we need to change for the groups in between? Anyone have suggestions?"

{More Fire.} Hawk cheered as he circled above the fight.

That made the Clan Leaders chuckle. The phoenix was very skilled with his flames, and they hadn't had to deal with the blood spawn Plague Demons at all during the battle. They had all been scorched to nothing before they could even become an issue.

But it wouldn't surprise them if the Phoenix intended to burn the whole dungeon down, and then light a small campfire, just for good luck.

Carnage led the way as soon as the team looked like they were done talking, and the warriors fell into the familiar routine of the fights, which were fundamentally the same as the first section.

The Demons were the same all through the dungeon, no major surprises or drastic shifts in strategy needed.

Then, they reached the second boss, and the team paused to make a much better strategy than they had last time. Only, Karl quickly realized that they didn't understand the trouble that they were in.

"Uh, guys? That's not a Plague Shaman. That's a Plague Matriarch. She's a plague zombie summoning type of boss, and she can step into those puddles to escape.

She will move from one to another freely, and you need to stop her from getting to them, while also fighting off the zombies. I will let you decide how to deal with that, but I can swap Carnage for Oathbreaker if you don't think you're fast enough to catch her."

"Well fuck you too." Carnage replied, which made Karl chuckle.

"No offence, big guy, but Oathbreaker is stupidly fast."

Carnage shrugged. There was no argument with that. Not only was Oathbreaker faster than he was, the Obsession Demon could teleport, and he did area damage with every hit, so didn't even have to catch the boss, just the zombies.

The group conferred on the strategy, now that they had an idea of what they were up against.

"Is she likely to have an effect like that last boss?" One of them asked Karl.

"Probably not as extreme. She would logically have some sort of toxin on her attacks, nearly all Plague Demons do. But other than that, I don't think that difficulty three is going to bump her up with anything too nasty, other than teleporting between puddles."

The leader of the group smiled, and then pointed up.

"I think that I have our solution. Can we have your Phoenix coat all but two of the puddles in fire? That should keep the boss from moving to them. And then we only have to fight her in two locations.

If the zombies spawn from the puddles, it will also light most of them on fire, and reduce the effort needed to eliminate them.

After the fight starts, and we see the mechanic, we can swap tactics.

But I think that should be the way to go. One Carnage Demon at either unguarded puddle to catch the boss, and then the group spread enough that we don't get cornered again.

How is your healing range?"

Karl shrugged. "More than enough to get anywhere within the range of the boss fight."

"That works for us, and I know that it works for Hawk." Karl agreed.

"Alright, let's get a move on. We're only going to make ourselves nervous if we keep talking about the things that might happen. Carnage, what two puddles do you want open?"

"Opposite corners. It will make it easier to pull her out of range of the other puddles."

"Going in three."
