Chapter 2070 It Needs Green
Chapter 2070 It Needs Green
While the others took their positions, a collection of pills was placed in the cabinets by Andrea, following the standard labelled storage plan that they were built on.
The signs were all in runic, so a casual visitor would have no idea what they held, but the shopkeepers wouldn't have to guess. In shops like this, it was customarily only one master Alchemist and one or two apprentices, so they would know where everything was, what was sold and what was purchased.
But with so many, they needed labels.
They might settle it to just the two shopkeepers, with Remi as the reclusive master called on when there was an issue or a custom order.
But for now, they just needed to look competent.
That was the most important part to the Alchemists of the Darklight Hosts. They were the local Guild, the official vendor of ingestible buffs near both the arena and the dungeon. If they didn't look like they knew what they were doing, it would make everyone else look bad.
You could have incompetent vendors in town, but they should be independent, not affiliated with the Elders of the Guild.
And there weren't many Elders more reputable than Andrea and Oak.
Whenever Oak arrived.
Her dad was still hanging around in the Tiny World with her, though their nap should be done by now.
Probably.
They were definitely enjoying the father daughter time while he dodged whatever responsibilities he was supposed to have at home.
The Guild members just didn't want to say anything because having a Supreme and a Legend in the Tiny World was good for everyone. The space was a sealed world, and their bodies actively upgraded the energy that they took in, the same way that putting mortals in with the Immortals had helped them grow.
So, the longer they could keep the Legend around doing nothing but existing, the better it was for them.
Andrea suspected that their home branch was going to send someone to go get the Legendary Green Dragon eventually. Apparently it wasn't the first time that a Legend was sent to intervene with this Branch's activities, and there was talk of a Demigod level Black Dragon Avatar having come once before to warn Karl not to play around with the restriction against bonding hatchlings.
Some worlds considered it child abuse, as dragon hatchlings were sapient, but lacked common sense. So, forming a permanent bond with them was like holding a toddler to a contract they signed.
The Black Dragon just got upset with the Ancients corrupting the cycle of life and death and had it out for everyone associated with them.
Not in a violent way, but in a petty one.
That was one of the things that people often overlooked about death. There was a balance to it, so many thought that it was logical and compassionate as an aspect. But Death God followers were actually vengeful and petty as hell if you irritated them.
Because Death didn't care who died, as long as the balance was upheld.
Andrea had learned that a long time ago, and knew not to do things that would make the Death God's followers hold a grudge. However, Karl was still the sort that would poke the bear to see what happened.
No wonder he got along so well with the Green Dragon followers.
They also liked to poke bears for entertainment.
As if thinking about her had summoned her, Oak appeared in the room with them, looking somewhat depressed.
"They called dad home. Apparently there is an issue, and he's needed immediately. What's this? A new Guild Alchemy Hall? Or just a shop?"
"A bit of both?" Andrea answered.
"Oh, that's fun. I like what you did with the place. Or was that Opal? The little Fae is amazing at making specialty shops for any situation. A great advantage of having an illusion specialist on hand."
Andrea nodded. "This is a wonderful shop for the Guild's Alchemists. It gives them a prime location to move high-volume goods without crowding the main Guild Store, and they can take orders for specialty items without needing to call for one of the senior Alchemists all the time."
The alchemists weren't usually at the Guild House, they didn't work inside it like the Runecrafting team did. So, it was a hassle to have them come to the store every time someone wanted something that wasn't in stock.
But if they were running the shop here, you could send the customers over to them directly, while still having the Guild Store have access to the inventory.
Then Oak looked around and frowned.
"It needs some greenery, though. Some hanging plants, maybe dried herbs. Something natural, with a bit of colour."
Remi giggled. "{ Andrea suggested that, to show that we have and will trade reagents. }"
The dragon rolled her eyes. "Obviously not, they go up so that the place doesn't feel so lifeless. Pill Masters and the cultivation style systems are all energy and concentration, and involuntary virginity because they never speak to anyone.
But this is Alchemy, it needs life and vibrancy, and a welcoming vibe, so that people come to talk."
And there it was. The real reason that Alchemy shops looked like they did.
Because the Green Dragons were incredibly social, and they were nature aspected, so they were often drawn to Alchemy as a trade skill.
Somehow that shouldn't have surprised anyone, but there had been a perfectly good explanation for why there were always herbs hung in an apothecary or Alchemy Hall, and nobody had really questioned if it was practical, sales related, or simply the Green Dragons wanting something green in their workspace.
Perhaps you really shouldn't assign a practical reason to things that could be explained with "Because it's nice to look at."
The Plage Demons seemed to agree with Oak on this one. They were all about hanging up living things inside the shop, but they leaned more towards moss, poison mushrooms, and other colourful plant life that could kill the unwary fool who touched them.
They weren't any less pleasant to look at, though.
