Chapter 2082 Teach Away
Chapter 2082 Teach Away
While Karl fought to keep the mages from throwing each other down the stairs to get to him for answers, Dana had managed to gather a large group of warriors and a few battle mages for drinks at the tavern.
The warriors all knew they could never use the Golems that Dana could, but the Battlemages had some hope that they might be able to, and both were curious about the fighting skills that she had.
They were not a style that anyone in the region taught, and not one that most of the spectators had seen before.
However, there was one in the crowd, a Supreme Ranked fox kin, who had seen a very similar type of blade skills before, and he was highly intrigued to be seeing them here, in some random crafting Guild that only had a few foxes.
"You know, the last place that I saw that skill was the Plum Blossom Pavillion, in the Divine Realm. Their courtesans practice it to defend against violent patrons," he began, then paused at the look on Dana's face.
"Don't misunderstand, I know that you're not one of them. But I am curious about how you learned that skill set. I had thought that it was a secret art, one not taught to outsiders, and we're a very long way from their home," he hastily added.
Dana sighed. The last thing she needed was someone thinking that she was a courtesan from a Divine Brothel.
No matter how funny Cara thought it was.
"The skills came with a previous class advancement, Mystic Blademaster was the class, and all of the skills were flower themed. They're beautiful to use, and exceptionally powerful, but they don't exactly have the sort of aggressive vibe that most combat skills do."
The old fox laughed. "Well, that's an advantage, isn't it? If you learn to use the skills right, you can suspend the effect and have them look like floral arrangements in the room, so you don't need to use mana to reactivate them in an emergency.
That way they can serve as a defensive array on the room, as well as decorations. You're a Runemaster, right? I believe that I felt your aura on a few of the auction pieces that the Blue Elves have been putting out lately.
If you can do that, I'm fairly sure that you can learn the trick, or make an item that will do it.
Personally, I just think that it would be neat. Foxes all love new and interesting things, even if they're not the most effective."
Dana smiled, thinking of Tian, "As I was once told, cute is king."
The mage nodded. "That's the spirit."
The warriors around them laughed, understanding that it was a fox thing, and that they weren't actually planning anything weird.
Well, maybe.
With the skills that Dana had, she really might manage to make something that could turn a flower decorated hotel room into a deadly trap, and that was a truly terrifying thought.
So, they deflected.
"I noticed that you do a lot of fighting in the air. Did you directly train for three dimensional combat, or is it just a side effect of having high agility that it comes naturally?" One of the men asked.
"It's trained, I learned to fly early, so I've been fighting in the air since I was a teenager. Now, it just makes more sense, as I can fight over top of my golems, and attack down into a crowd of monsters in a dungeon.
If I didn't fight in the air, I would struggle to get attacks around a horde of constructs, or I would have to move closer to the warriors, and away from the healers.
It's not mentioned much, but part of the mages job is to defend the healers if something gets by the warriors, and we can't do that if we're on the far side of the boss to get a clear angle for our spells."
The warriors nodded. There was nothing worse than a Ranger or Mage who didn't know where to stand and ended up in the line of fire when the warriors had to turn the boss to get them away from the group.
Many skills attacked in an arc in front of the attacker, so you couldn't keep the boss facing the group. But you couldn't keep them from turning back, so you had to distract and turn them right before a big skill.
It was part of the art of being the group's tank.
They might not prefer it, but at some point, every warrior needed to learn the techniques, both for group and solo fighting.
"That blade attack, the one that creates a hundred swords that all use [Rend], or something like it, is that also a Class Skill?" One of the warriors asked between shots of the local Rum.
Dana shook her head. "No, that one I learned separately. It's a Rare skill, not Epic or forgotten, but it's not one that I've seen many people using. Probably because it takes a lot of mental power to guide the swords, so if you're short on focus it will only create a handful of blades."
The warrior laughed, and patted one of his friends on the back. "See, what did I tell you? It's [Blade Storm], or an equivalent skill. You just suck at it."
The room roared with laughter at the warrior's expense. There was nothing quite like being called out by a mage on your lack of blade skills. But this one was based on mental power and focus, so it made sense that the Battlemages and others like Dana would be exceptionally good at it, while a warrior who was used to singleminded focus was not as adept.
Mages fought from a distance, warriors were so close they only ever fought one or two targets at a time. Most didn't even learn skills to hit a hundred targets at once, much less a hundred individual targets, requiring a hundred individually controlled swords.
"I can show you the trick to splitting your focus, if you want? It might actually be easier over a few drinks." Dana offered.
"Now this is my kind of skill. Teach away, Lady Dana Mage."
