The First Legendary Beast Master

Chapter 2106 Timely Shipment

Chapter 2106 Timely Shipment

While Eryman read through reports of growing hostility, and the Supreme Ranked members of the Guild spent their days between the crafting halls and the dungeon, Karl spent the next few days entirely in his office, wishing that he had a Dana Mage to cuddle.

He had a Cara, but that was not the same.

The badger liked to drop in and see how the paperwork was going, as well as giving him the compiled updates that the other members had made and sent to him. Most of the updates were very mundane, about gear sales, and other information.

But there were other notes that made Karl pay attention.

Things like bar fights within the city, the change in power levels of groups entering the dungeon, the reports from Andrea about the situation to their west down the coastal areas, and then reports of seeing a Blue Elven Fleet coming their way.

It was larger than usual, likely two or three cargo ships.

That was something that put the whole Guild on high alert, because it meant a huge sale of items, and in this situation, it was also important to know where they were planning to take those items.

If it was down the east coast, to the auctions, that would limit the number of items that made it to the battlefield. But if it was down the south coast, or up the fjord that nearly split the continent in two, then they would be largely selling to Eryman and his church brethren.

That wasn't a bad outcome, but it was also not a particularly good one for Eryman, who was trying to avoid becoming the centre of any sort of controversy.

And an auction house full of Darklight Host gear might just do that.

He ran a free port, the Elves were welcome to trade there, and at his auctions. But if he suddenly had the direct connection to all the latest and greatest gear coming out of the Darklight Host, there were going to be questions about whether he had finally given in and agreed to take over the leadership of the church.

He most emphatically had not.

"Rue says that she will meet the Elves at the docks, and then bring their Captains back here," Cara informed Karl a second before the message reached him.

"And you intend to wait for them?"

Cara smiled. "It's one of the Elves whose daughter is training in the Tiny World. They're doing really well, and I think we might have a touching reunion. They're also due to start fishing boat training tomorrow, where they'll be Captain for a five person crew.

Their first appointment, now that they're doing well on their combat skills assessments.

I'm definitely not going to miss the moment when that news gets relayed."

So that was the reason she was so excited about the Elves. Karl had nearly forgotten that the trainees were about to start doing more than simply learning blade skills and leadership techniques in isolation. But he had been so busy with everything else that he hadn't even been checking up on them.

He really should make a point of doing that more often, so that he had proper updates when people came to visit or sent him messages. But there were training updates in the daily reports, they just didn't cover what happened next, only what had been done that day.

Karl was about to rearrange the office to meet with the Elves when Eryman stepped into the front of the Guild Shop.

That was likely something he should handle in person, instead of asking the Lesser Watcher to bring the Legend to him. The man was one of the most important on the continent, after all, and Karl had done a terrible job of greeting him when he first arrived.

"Lord Eryman, welcome to the Guild House. If you'd like to join me in the back, I'm expecting a few more guests soon."

Eryman smiled, "Yes, that is what I came for. They're well known to me, and most likely headed my way. I haven't gotten a shipment from them in nearly two months, so I'm about due.

That's about the schedule the Captains keep, sending me a shipment for every second monthly auction, and they might not know that I'm here. Well, they will soon, if they haven't sensed me from out at sea, but it will change their plans if they can talk to me before they leave.

It will also save some time, since we won't have to haggle about what I'll take at the auction.

Normally, there are some items in their shipments that simply don't sell in my territory, and I decline them, so I don't take a loss selling them. But if I'm here, we can go over what has been in high demand before they leave, so they can plan other buyers for it in advance.

Their first appointment, now that they're doing well on their combat skills assessments.

Very efficient."

Karl laughed a little at the man's direct tone, and saw how the Paladin would be seen as a leadership candidate for the entire church. He knew what he wanted, how to do it, and he didn't hesitate when it came time to make decisions.

That was exactly what such a large organization needed to keep it operating cohesively.

"Lady Rue will be bringing them over. She often meets them at the docks, as she specializes in some of the magic they like for their ships. But that won't take long, if these are new clients and not returning ones."

Eryman shrugged. "I think they're repeat customers of yours. I've seen them with your goods before, but I can't guarantee that they weren't transferred between ships.

Either way, they're at the docks now, and disembarking.

If your Lady Rue is going to be doing work on the vessels, she's not planning to do it now."

Karl was impressed. He could sense that they were at the docks, or at least near them. But he couldn't tell that they had already disembarked.

Perhaps the Paladin had remote viewing of some sort as a skill? That would be a valuable one to learn.

He would put it on the list.
