Chapter 1641: Seven Day Tournament(8)
After seventy million years, finally a third-ranked family appeared in the contest.
Liyun, despite being millions of years old, jumped up in joy when his family became a third-ranked family, a power strong enough to rule a corner of the world.
Suddenly, everything around him froze. Before Liyun could understand what was happening, unfamiliar memories flashed in his mind.
Those memories were only a few hundred years long, but the content in them was shocking enough to freeze him. Following that, a rush of exhilaration spread across his body.
Whatever he had done for the last seventy million years was nothing but a contest to win the inheritance of the store owner. But when he learned he was the first to fulfill the first requirement, his joy had no limits.
Even though a hundred families would compete in the contest and only the winner of that battle would become Aakesh’ inheritor, the earlier a contestant completed the requirement, the longer they would have to strengthen the family further.
So if it took ten thousand more years for the hundredth third-ranked family to appear, Liyun could use those ten thousand years to strengthen his family with his complete memory of the Sacred Dimension.
The time freeze then disappeared, and things returned to normal. The descendants he had in the contest looked at him respectfully.
Liyun’s gaze toward them had changed from earlier because now he knew the truth. His family didn’t know that their ancestor had changed, and from that moment, the most gruelling years of their lives began.
Liyun’s family achieving the third rank was like a bamboo shoot after a long period of accumulation. Over the next couple of years, third-ranked families started to appear one after another.
Six years later, Maria family reached the third rank, making her the hundredth family to achieve that goal.
The next moment, a mechanical announcement rang in the ears of every participant who was still active in the competition.
[The hundred third-ranked families have been born. Congratulations to the hundred. The rest are disqualified from the competition.]
Following that announcement, flurries of white light appeared inside the store as one participant after another appeared. Their memories immediately returned without any mental impact from their long lives in the competition.
Groans and cries started ringing out as people knew what they had lost. Especially those who were only one step away from achieving the goal were so heartbroken that it seemed they had lost their will to live.
Fortunately, the system acted and immediately healed whatever mental state had arisen due to their situation due to the contest.
There were still hundreds of billions of participants close to achieving that goal, so Aakesh understood why they were so disappointed, but the competition was competition. He didn’t sympathize with them. Their luck and capabilities fell short of those hundred. Anyway, those long years of grinding in the contest world would also help those contestants, so they had only gained from the event despite paying nothing.
Aakesh focused on the hundred who had achieved the requirement.
Those hundred contestants appeared in a separate space and greeted each other, in case there were any familiar figures. Out of the hundred, the majority were unknown figures, but some were extremely well known, like Maria.
Maria’s strength in the Sacred Dimension wasn’t worth being recognized by that many characters, but she had the largest organization inside Panagea, so anyone who had entered Panagea knew who she was because they also wanted to join her group.
Their family members didn’t appear, but they had turned into a card, which the contestants would be able to activate when it was their turn for the family war.
The hundred participants would be randomly pitted against each other, with fifty victors. Of those fifty victors, twenty-five victors would remain.
Those twenty-five contestants would then be divided into a group of five randomly organized, with them battling against every member of that group.
The top member of the group would pass, while the remaining four would fail to go any further. The five contestants that would be left at that point would then compete against each other like the previous round.
The one with the most victories would be crowned the champion of that long event and become the inheritor of Aakesh’s mega inheritance.
The contestants didn’t need to fear for their strength loss as after every battle, the victor would return to their full strength with every dead family member reviving.
The participants were then given a number based on their reaching the third-ranked family status.
Liyun was ’1’ while Maria was ’100’.
A giant projection of their numbers appeared in the sky above the participants’ heads. The next moment, the numbers started rotating and clashed with each other.
They kept passing over each other as if they existed in different spaces. The numbers that would touch each other would be the combatants for the first round.
Maria focused on the sky, and her destined opponent appeared. It was number ’1’.
Liyun became excited when he saw that his opponent was number ’100’. The opponent had the lowest preparation amount, while he had the highest.
Going by strength, he should be the strongest, but anything could happen since luck was also involved in the competition, so he didn’t become overconfident. He decided to play by his strength only.
The next moment, a golden pillar of light covered Liyun and Maria. Following that, they appeared in another space while a large screen appeared before the remaining 98 participants.
Maria’s family had been warring only, so she wasn’t very worried about her battle. Even though the opponent had the advantage of time, she had the advantage of quality. She didn’t believe she could lose easily. But she had seen numerous store-organized contests, so she understood that she couldn’t underestimate anyone.
Many nobodies have come from nowhere and risen to win competitions over the years, changing their lives.
