The General's Little Peasant Wife

Chapter 8

Across the crowd, Yang Zhu saw Ning Meng Yao and immediately greeted her to come in and give the villagers some explanation.

“Meng Yao girl, are you really willing to teach the children?” Able to know words, able to count, and when they grew up, they could be an accountant whose wage was high. When they thought of it, they felt very excited.

“Yes, I already agree to uncle village head to teach the village children words and how to count, but if all of you wanted the children to pa.s.s imperial examination, it’s better to let them try to get in the academy,” although Ning Meng Yao was not warm, but she still gave the villagers an explanation.

“Then the fee…”

“I’m not planning on receiving any fee. You all should leave that money to buy brush and ink so the children can practice or buy the children some delicious nutritious food.” Ning Meng Yao looked at the longing looks on the children as they looked at her, appeared to understand that they could wholeheartedly learn words.

The crowd went in an uproar, looking at Ning Meng Yao with disbelieve. She really would not receive fees? This…. This….

“Girl, you….”

“Uncle, it’s okay. I’m only an amateur, what I can teach I will teach. Until then, I hope everyone won’t dislike my teaching,” Ning Meng Yao smiled slightly like a clean breath of spring breeze, making the crowd’s hearts warm.

“How can it be.”

“That’s right. Then we thank you beforehand.”

“No need, but only children five years and above are allowed to attend,” Ning Meng Yao thought of the children in her past life who started learning and made a condition.

“Why?” There were people who could not understand the reason behind the condition.

“Five years old is the age children start learning because at that age, they already have certain character and can sit down nicely,” Ning Meng Yao explained patiently the reason why.

Once the crowd heard it, they also agreed. Children too young could not sit still, always wanting to go out and play. That kind of thought they could follow.

Ning Meng Yao flashed them a smile. Yang Le Le went to the village’s carpenter’s house to take a look.

“Yao Yao, Grandpa Li is a carpenter, his works are nicely done.” Yang Le Le pointed to an old man not far away from them with a smile.

Hearing Yang Le Le spoke about himself, Grandpa Li lifted his head and looked at Ning Meng Yao, “Girl, what do you want to make?”

“I want to make some tables and chairs, I do not have that many of them at home,” Ning Meng Yao said helplessly.

“Hai, I thought it was something big. In two days, me and my two boys will definitely finish those chairs and tables, don’t you worry,” Grandpa Li immediately opened his mouth to reply.

He had two grandchildren, one was seven years old while the other was full five years old, both of them old enough to be sent to learn. He was of course happy that he could be of help.

“Grandpa Li, we’ll first go to your house to speak about what kind of tables I want.”

“Fine then, Zhu boy, I will go ahead with Meng Yao girl,” Grandpa Li turned his head and said to Yang Zhu.

“Alright.”

A grandpa and a girl turned to leave. The rest began to discuss in a happy mood, some even told their children to learn from Ning Meng Yao seriously.

Ning Meng Yao arrived at Grandpa Li’s house. There were two middle aged men inside, appearing to make furniture.

“Dad, you’re back? What did the village head said?” They did not go over to look since they had to make furniture.

“Our Lin’er and little Mu can go to learn words,” Grandpa Li was very happy as he thought of this.

Once both men heard this, they immediately put down their things and asked Grandpa Li what happened. After hearing his words, both of them looked at Ning Meng Yao with glowing eyes.

“That..Grandpa Li, how about we first talk about the chairs and tables?” being looked at with such burning gazes made Ning Meng Yao felt embarra.s.sed.

Grandpa Li was them reminded by this and called her. Both of them discussed about the tables and chairs and under Ning Meng Yao’s guidance, Grandpa Li could make foldable chairs and tables fast.

“It’s like this then. Grandpa Li, for now, I want fifteen tables and thirty chairs. How much are these?” Ning Meng Yao felt satisfied with the tables and chairs and lifted her head to ask Grandpa Li.

Grandpa Li waved his hand, “How can I ask you for money? You already taught the kids free of charge; we will also put some effort to do something.”

“That’s right. Girl, if you refuse then you’re looking down on us,” the two men beside also showed dissatisfaction.

Both of them also wanted to send their children to the academy but the fee was too high. And now that their children had the opportunity to learn words, of course they were happy.
