THE GOD EATER

Chapter 1003: Scared Dragon.

Chapter 1003: Scared Dragon.

For example, just earlier, Money Speed and Forced Exchange had seen the dragon from afar. The dragon also saw them.

After the dragon saw them, it turned around to run. Seeing this, Forced Exchange said to Money Speed with an anxious tone, "Chase it."

Money Speed gritted her teeth in hesitation, but she decided to spend some of her divine merit points to enhance her speed with her Divine Metac. Then she gave chase to the dragon.

She was faster than Forced Exchange, so she left him behind quickly as she went after the dragon. Unfortunately, despite her willingness to sacrifice her divine merit points, she still failed to reach the dragon.

All she managed to catch was the sight of many black cocoons trailing behind the dragon. Aside from that, she came up empty-handed in her pursuit.

After she lost track of the dragon, she stomped her foot into the ground in anger and stopped using her Divine Metac. Then she stood in place, waiting for Forced Exchange to catch up to her.

Upon reaching her, Forced Exchange asked in frustration, "You lost it."

She nodded and replied, "Obviously, I lost it."

Forced Exchange, shaking his head in fear, said, "Money Body won’t be happy about this."

Hearing this, she snorted and said, "If he wants the dragon so bad, maybe he should come here and search for it himself. We’ve done our best, and clearly, our best isn’t good enough."

"That’s a good idea," Forced Exchange said sarcastically. "You should tell him that yourself. I’m sure that the notoriously selfish Money Body will reward you for your inspiring idea."

She ignored his sarcasm and asked, "What do you suggest we do then? This is the second time that we’ve seen the dragon and failed to catch it. I doubt there will be a third opportunity. But even if there is a third sighting, we are still likely to let the dragon escape."

Forced Exchange replied with a shrug and said, "What else can we do? There is no way for us to track the dragon, and no one can track the dragon."

"If someone could track the dragon, I would pay them whatever price they want for the information on the location of the dragon, regardless of how expensive it is. Unfortunately, there is no such convenience, so we can only continue doing our best so as to reduce how much blame Money Body will put on us."

He laughed deprecatingly as he said, "And trust me, there will definitely be some blame for us. No matter what we do, Money Body will blame us as long as we didn’t catch the dragon. Our effort can only reduce the blame and subsequent punishment. So the more we work now, the less the punishment will be later."

She knew that what he said was the truth, so she didn’t argue with him about it. In fact, even if he was wrong, she wasn’t in the mood to argue with him because there was something else troubling her.

She had been thinking about this troubling matter ever since she lost the dragon the first time. Now that the same thing had repeated itself, she had become quite concerned.

At this point, she couldn’t keep her concerns to herself. So after he was done talking, she said, "Maybe it is not a bad thing that we can’t catch the dragon?"

Her words immediately made Forced Exchange look at her as if he was looking at a stranger. The expression he had on his face was one of incredulous absurdity. Clearly, he had a problem with what she said.

But just to make his opinion on what she said certain, he said, "Have you gone mad?"

Unruffled by his coarse language, she said, "I mean, if the dragon can escape from us, maybe it is stronger than us. If it is really stronger than us, maybe it is a good thing that it isn’t trying to fight and kill us."

Forced Exchange, shaking his head, said, "You may be right about that. The dragon might actually be stronger than us but doesn’t know it, which is why it is running away from us. But even if the dragon doesn’t know it, how can you know it?"

"And don’t tell me it is because the dragon is faster than us. Being faster doesn’t mean being stronger and capable of killing us. It only means that the dragon possesses Divine Metacs or World Authorities that can enhance its speed better than us."

"Just look at you as an example. You’re faster than me. But it doesn’t mean that you’re stronger than me. In fact, the opposite is the case. I am stronger than you."

"You make a good point," Money Speed began. "But I still think the dragon is stronger because it is faster than me."

Before Forced Exchange could speak up to refute her, she said, "Hear me out."

Forced Exchange really had a lot to say about her claim. But when he heard her request, he decided to keep quiet for the meantime and allow her to speak. However, he did snort in displeasure.

Money Speed said, "I belong to an alliance. It is one of the strongest alliances, so I have one of the biggest Cave Heavens."

"I also have a Divine Metac to enhance my speed. With all of these advantages, I should be the fastest rank 6 cultivator or one of the fastest rank 6 cultivators in the world. Yet, the dragon can leave me in the dust so easily."

"No rank 6 cultivator should be able to outrun me like that. So the dragon is probably at rank 7."

At this point, Forced Exchange couldn’t hold back anymore. He sneered as he said, "It could also be that the dragon possessed two or more Divine Metacs for enhancing their speed. You only have one Divine Metac, so it is not exactly far-fetched that you’re slower than a dragon with more than one Divine Metac."
