Chapter 1085: Another Black Cube.
Chapter 1085: Another Black Cube.
However, now that Black Chain was able to think straight again, he realized that he hadn’t been himself earlier. This caused immense shame to well up within him. Then the shame turned into intense anger.
As the anger bubbled within him, he wanted to lash out and assert dominance. But then he remembered the chilling gaze from earlier that had slowed down his mind and turned him into a groveling simpleton. So he forcefully restrained his emotions.
Instead of whipping the guardian with the black chain as he had initially thought to do, he glared at Loki while thinking to himself, ’I hope for your sake that you do not survive this. Because if you do, I’ll make your life a living hell.’
Meanwhile, the guardian was saying to Loki, "What did this eye look like? Describe everything about them."
"Then tell me why the crack in the sky disappeared. Or at least provide a reason why only you remember the event."
Loki nodded and said, "The eye was mostly black. The sclera was black while the iris was white and the pupil was blue."
"When the eye rushed towards me, it twisted like a hurricane. And when I punched the eye, it really felt like I was punching air. The material that made it up was soft and unyielding."
"Then the eye entered my Cave Heaven through my body. It even fused with my Divine Spark. It changed the spark from gold to black in the blink of an eye, taking over..."
"Wait, wait," the guardian interrupted him. "Did you say that it fused with the Divine Spark?"
"Yes, it did. It..."
Loki was in the process of explaining when the world faded around them. No one else seemed to notice. Not even the great and powerful guardian noticed that the world was becoming translucent.
The very fabric of reality became a hollow phantom. Colors faded away, making the world look gray and empty. Then the world fragmented into dust that was blown away by an invisible wind.
Loki noticed all of this happening. He also saw his body and divine flesh waste away along with the world.
Soon, everything around him disappeared, including Black Chain and the guardian. He found himself in a world of darkness and emptiness. No matter where he looked, all he saw was darkness.
He was in this abyss of darkness when he saw a black cube in the distance. The cube was pitch black and should have been able to mesh well with the emptiness and darkness of the void. But he was able to make out the cube from the darkness because it was the sole existence in this sea of nothingness.
Not only did he see the black cube, but he also recognized it. In fact, when he looked at himself, what he saw was a black cube that was completely identical to the one he was seeing in the distance.
"Is that me?" he asked himself in confusion.
When he couldn’t figure it out, he shouted at the other black cube, saying, "Hey! Are you me?"
When that didn’t work, he raised his voice even more to say, "What are you doing here? How did you get here?"
"Answer me, damn it. Are you deaf?"
The other black cube didn’t answer. In fact, the other cube didn’t seem to hear his question or notice his existence.
He didn’t know why the other black cube was ignoring him, but he wasn’t willing to let things be like this. Since the other cube was the only thing in existence with him, he decided to go over to it to have a chat with it. So he began swimming in the void in the direction of the other cube.
As soon as he started moving, he realized that he was moving at an insanely slow speed. There was nothing around him to tell him how much distance he had covered, but he was able to tell that he was slow because the distance between him and the other cube had barely shrunk.
Frustrated, he said, "Even a snail would be faster than this. How long will it take me to reach him at this rate?"
The answer turned out to be an eternity.
He felt as if he had been moving forever and ever. His mind threatened to collapse because of the passage of time many times during the journey. Unfortunately, the material and structure of the black cube that served as the container for his consciousness refused to collapse.
It wasn’t a good thing that his mind couldn’t collapse because he wanted to die. He wanted it so badly that he began begging to die.
"Please, let me die. I want to die."
He was stranded in nothingness for an eternity. After a while, he had had enough of the nothingness and didn’t want to exist anymore.
Unfortunately, he couldn’t die. So he did the only thing he could do, which was to try to reach the only thing he could see in this sea of nothingness.
Eventually, he reached the other cube. But when he touched the black cube, it disappeared. The other black cube left, leaving him alone in the darkness.
"What just happened? Was I hallucinating just now?"
Actually, he wouldn’t be surprised if he had been hallucinating. With how far his mind was stretched, everything could have been a figment of his imagination.
As he looked around, trying to figure out where the other black cube went, he looked back to where he came from and saw another black cube.
This black cube looked exactly like him and was in the same position he had started. This new black cube was also shouting at him, saying, "Hey! Are you me?"
"What are you doing here? How did you get here?"
"Answer me, damn it. Are you deaf?"
When he heard these words, he was stunned into silence. His fragile mind seemed to reach a tipping point that left him unable to articulate his thoughts and respond.
