Chapter 1091: The Four Guests.
’I see,’ Black Chain thought to himself as he was enlightened.
He sighed in relief as he thought, ’So it isn’t that I am not allowed to get another Cosmic Dao. It is that I don’t have the capacity to handle more than one. That’s good. For a while there, I thought it was something serious.’
Outwardly, he said to the guardian, "That problem can be solved."
"If you say so. Only time will tell if you have what it takes," the guardian said noncommittally. "Anyway, I am here for another reason."
Looking at the respectful spider-monkey, the guardian smiled and asked, "Have you ever wondered why this domain called the Sea of Worlds was conquered by my pantheon?"
"Yes, I have always wondered," Black Chain admitted.
He didn’t show it, but he was afraid as he said, "Your people killed every Dao Lord in the Domain. Then you helped to create a new batch of Dao Lords for no apparent reason."
"The best reason I could come up with for why you did this is that your purpose is related to the Metac Cultivation system. Could it be that I was wrong and you plan to kill us as you did to the ancient cultivators?"
After he asked that question, he thought to himself with a sinking heart, ’Is this place a farm for raising Dao Lords so that they can kill us? But if that is true, why didn’t they encourage the creation of more Dao Lords and step in when I banned the production of more Dao Lords?’
In response, the guardian chuckled and said, "You surely have an imaginative mind."
"Don’t worry. I don’t plan to kill you. What I have in store for you is so much better."
The guardian said he didn’t have anything to worry about. But instead of calming down, his expectations for something terribly wrong to happen only continued to increase. Because of this, he became more agitated the more the guardian tried to assure him.
As it turned out, he really had reasons to be worried. When he gazed upon his son, a black spider-monkey with the same appearance, pathways, and divinity, the dread that he had been expecting to feel finally settled comfortably within his heart.
After he was violated by being forced to birth the creature most likely to kill him, the guardian left with his son, leaving him to contemplate his existence.
His heart was cold as he said, "On the other hand, this is a good thing because I now have another source of Supreme Metacs. If the guardian had everyone create offspring, that would double the amount of Supreme Metacs available for the taking in this Domain."
"On the other hand, this is a bad thing because that boy wants to kill me. Plus, the benefit of having more Supreme Metacs for the taking will also benefit the other Dao Lords, making them stronger."
"No matter what, I have to grow stronger very quickly or that boy and the other Dao Lords will catch up to me. But what am I willing to do to gain power quickly? Am I willing to free the Will of the Blessed Heaven World?"
Just as he asked himself this question, the black sky above him rippled like a wave. As the sky rippled, a layer of black force was peeled away from it, revealing a multicolored layer.
As it turned out, the true color of the sky above the third heaven was the rainbow and many more colors beyond the range of the visible spectrum for humans. Every color that every animal could see was in the sky. The sight was grand and mesmerizing to behold.
Anyone else looking at this sight might feel joy that the lock sealing the Sea of Worlds into a prison had been removed, or that they now had the opportunity to leave the Sea of Worlds to find more worlds to set up their sects in. But when Black Chain saw the sky of many colors, he felt uncertainty, unwillingness, and some fear.
He wouldn’t admit it, but he was afraid. The unwillingness that he didn’t get to gain total control of the Sea of Worlds before it was unsealed, and the uncertainty about the kind of entities that could enter the Sea of Worlds now were playing second fiddle to his feeling of fear.
In fact, the unwillingness and uncertainty were only adding to that fear because he didn’t like not being in control of everything. As he gazed at that sky of many colors, his worst fears seemed to come to life.
Something pierced the sky from beyond. It was a white spear made out of energy.
When the spear struck the sky, it tore a hole through the sky. Then, a moment later, a large cylindrical vessel used that hole as a channel to enter the Sea of Worlds.
The hole in the sky disappeared less than a second later, sealing the channel. But before he could relax, another spear of light tore through the sky. Then a second flying vessel rushed into the Sea of Worlds through the gap.
As he stood there with the multicolored sky reflecting in his multicolored eyes, he saw a third vessel come into the Sea of Worlds. A moment later, he saw a fourth vessel.
"Something is wrong. These people couldn’t have noticed that the Sea of Worlds opened just now and immediately came looking. They must have been prepared for the Sea of Worlds to open."
"Yes, it has to be that. Someone had to have informed them of the impending opening."
The alternative was that no one told the four vessels that the Sea of Worlds was opening, and these four came here by chance, or these four came as soon as possible. He wouldn’t mind it if they came by chance, as that would denote that they didn’t prepare for the Sea of Worlds. But being realistic, he didn’t count on that coincidence.
