Chapter 1093: Making Demands.
When it was the turn of the scholarly young man to speak, he asked, "Is your request so that you can gain control of the Divine Spark, or are you still hell-bent on enslaving the Will of the Blessed Heaven World after all of this time?"
"I want both," the black monkey said in reply. "But this is more about gaining control of the Divine Spark. I can enslave the Will of the Blessed Heaven World on my own."
"I see," the scholarly young man said in understanding. "After thinking about your proposal clearly, I have decided to reject it and say no."
The black monkey frowned as it said, "Why?"
On the sides, the two eagles and the giant barbarian stars immediately began berating him again, but the black monkey ignored them and didn’t listen to what they were saying. It only paid attention to what the young scholar had to say.
The young scholar said in reply, "First of all, what Heavenly Eye said is right. You’re not doing us some great favor here. Freeing the Blessed Heaven World will also help you."
"So this offer of yours feels like you took our food, but then offered to return it to us so that we can cook the food in exchange for eating part of the cooked food and getting paid for releasing the food you unjustly took. It is an insincere offer."
The scholarly man’s voice was solemn as he said, "Secondly, all of us here want to gain control of the Divine Spark. All of us are your competitors for the Divine Spark. Yet, not only are you asking us to back away from competing with you, but you also want us to help you take the Divine Spark."
"That part is just overkill. It is disrespectful, and it is a display of too much greed. You need to change your demand if you want us to agree with you."
Unlike what they were used to, the black monkey didn’t get angry and remain stubborn after everyone rejected his demands. Instead, the black monkey nodded calmly and said, "Fair enough."
"I will change my demand. I don’t want you to help me anymore. But I insist that you don’t help the Will of the Blessed Heaven World when I fight it."
"Can we still compete with you?" the red young man asked.
With a chuckle of amusement, the black monkey replied, "Sure, you can still compete with me."
The way he replied was full of condescension, belittling the person who asked the question. Clearly, he didn’t take them as much of a threat.
Before the matter could escalate, the young scholar said, "That sounds agreeable. We have a deal."
Upon hearing this, the black monkey nodded in satisfaction as it said, "Good choice."
Then it said to the other Dao Lords, "What do you say?"
"As long as I get to beat your face in, I don’t mind," the giant barbarian said.
The white eagle snorted as it said, "I see what you did there. This was your plan right from the start. That unreasonable demand of yours was to tenderize us and make us open to this request of yours."
"You can think whatever you want to think on your own time. This is not the time for that. What I want from you now is whether you agree or not," the black monkey said without denying the accusation.
It was the black eagle that replied, saying, "Fine. We agree."
The red-skinned young man also said, "I agree."
"I agree," the pink star spoke, being the last to speak.
There was another presence in the divine constellation, but this presence only watched and said nothing. This irritated the black monkey, who immediately glared at the culprit.
"What about you?" the black monkey asked with barely concealed hatred.
The last star, the one who hadn’t spoken so far, was looking down at the Blessed Heaven World. When it heard the black monkey’s question, it said, "So this is the kind of view Dao Lords enjoy from the divine constellation. It is nice."
"From here, I can see everything happening in the Blessed Heaven World. I only need to consume a little energy."
"It is unfortunate that I can’t actually see everything happen with my eyes. I can only see things through the perspective of the Will of the world. But it is acceptable for the low price that it requires."
"Young man," the young scholar called out. "I’m sure that all of this is novel to you. But we’re in kind of a rush here. So you agree with the proposal or not?"
The wolven human star said, "What I can agree with you lot about is that you’re definitely in a hurry. I can see that much."
"Unfortunately for you, I am not in a hurry here. I want to take my time and enjoy this view much longer."
"You little piece of shit," the black monkey said in anger. "I will grind you to dust when I get my hands on you."
As the black monkey swore to kill him and dismember his corpse, the other four monkeys also turned to glare at him and join in promising heaps of violence against him.
"I don’t doubt you. I don’t doubt that you can grind me to dust at all," Loki said with perfect calm, the opposite of the behavior of the monkeys. "Yet, here I am, still in no rush to make a decision."
With a sigh of frustration, Tepid Scholar asked, "What do you want?"
Hearing this, Loki smiled and said, "What a smart man."
But Black Chain roared in anger, saying, "You want to fleece me? Over my dead body!"
Loki said in return, "You have two choices. You can give me what I want now, and we will help the Blessed Heaven World ascend peacefully together. Or you can refuse to give me what I want and instead prepare for me to sabotage the ascension."
