Chapter 1122: The Slight Problem.

As an expert in the art of creating Supreme Metacs, this step, which involved reinforcing a conceptual image with commonality to turn it from a virtual entity into a physical manifestation, wasn’t difficult for him to do at all. However, he ran into a slight problem.

The dimensions of the Blade of Time Supreme Metac were 9, 9, 1, so it needed 19 units of commonality to solidify it. There was no problem when he added 18 units into the phantom shape of the Supreme Metac. But when he added the last one, the incomplete Supreme Metac collapsed with a bang.

"What the hell? What went wrong?"

This outcome caught him off guard in more ways than one. He had never experienced something like this, and he didn’t think it was possible for him to experience it.

However, he didn’t let this failure stop him. After mentally reviewing everything that happened, he set about making another attempt.

He tossed aside the leftover commonality since they would be incompatible with the next batch. Then he activated the Metac Creation Ability and the Divine Position Creation Ability.

This time, he used five raw materials. Since he now had an extraction rate of 49.5%, he would be able to extract 19.8 units of commonality from the five rank 8 Divine Positions, which is enough to make a Supreme Metac of the Cosmic Dao.

He was also extra careful this time and didn’t take the process for granted. He was meticulous with every step as if he was walking on eggshells.

Unfortunately, all of his caution was for naught. As soon as he placed the 19th units of commonality into the prepared structure, an external force pressed onto the incomplete Supreme Metac and crushed it.

’Maybe it is because I used nuclei as my commonality,’ he thought to himself. ’I should return to what has always worked for me so far.’

After thinking about what he had done differently, he decided to change how he extracted the commonality. This meant that he would have to return to using eight raw materials again, but he didn’t mind.

Unfortunately, this didn’t work either. The incomplete Supreme Metac still collapsed.

The repeated failures made him frown as he said, "It hasn’t been a complete waste, though. At least, I’ve been able to ascertain that the culprit of the failure is external."

"It seems there is some incompatibility between the rules of operation of the Supreme Metac I’m making and the rules of the world. As for why this is the case, I have no idea."

The most likely reason for the failure was that the rules he made were shoddy and incorrect. But he didn’t want to believe that the fault was with him.

It was a hard pill to swallow that he was at fault. He would rather blame the world for being unreasonable.

However, since he had failed three times in a row, he decided to try another approach. To be specific, he decided to completely change the template for the final product.

Instead of using the Blade of Time Metac as the template, he elected to use the Time Stasis Metac. So he switched the positions of raw materials and template once again.

When this attempt failed, he decided to repeat his last successful attempt. He used the Rewind Metac as the template, while everything else served as raw materials.

This time, there was no collapse, and he was able to build the Time Rewind Supreme Metac. Even when he repeated the attempt and used nuclei commonality to confirm, he still succeeded in making it.

Despite the two successful attempts, he was still frowning. In fact, his frown had only gotten deeper because of the success.

"Clearly there is nothing wrong with using nuclei as the commonality. And the universe isn’t specifically targeting me. So is it really my fault?" he asked uncertainly. "Am I the source of error here?"

Just to confirm, he switched to another pathway. He decided to try converting a Divine Metac of the Freedom Pathway into a Supreme Metac. So it was a pathway that he was very familiar with.

He started by creating the Divine Metacs of the Freedom Pathway that he was familiar with. He created the Invisible Metac, the Intangible Metac, the Free Range Metac, and the Free Mind Metac. Then he recreated the five Divine Metacs from the Time Pathway to make a total of nine Divine Metacs.

Of these nine Divine Metacs, he used the Intangible Metac as the template. Therefore, he would be upgrading the Intangible Metac to a Supreme Metac.

Just to be safe, he used atoms as the theme of commonality. He also did everything slowly while watching everything closely so as to pick up on any oddity.

But this level of caution still wasn’t enough. The incomplete Supreme Metac collapsed at the final moment of being set up with commonality.

Because of this failure, he stood in place for a long time, thinking about the problem and trying to figure out what could have gone wrong.

In his mind, he kept replaying the scenes of the process again and again. The scenes were also played slowly so that he wouldn’t miss anything. This was how he was able to spot the structure of the unfinished product shaking imperceptibly before collapsing.

When he finally figured out the problem, he snapped his fingers and said, "Maybe the problem is that I’m using something as a template."

"A template will reduce a lot of the difficulty because it comes prebaked with its rules. I just need to expand on those rules for the final product."

"However, these prebaked rules will also constrain the final product. So any tiny inconsistency in the structure of the product might become too glaring for the template to withstand."

Shaking his head in disappointment, he said, "How could I have missed something like this?"

"Mistakes like this should be beneath me at this point. But I guess everyone makes mistakes," he said with a chuckle.
