Chapter 1210: Race And The Dao.

His disciples didn’t mind the reduction of the lifespan boost because they were too powerful and still had the Devouring Metac.

By using their great strength to earn merit points, they could use the Devouring Metac to devour others to gain lifespan and cultivation. If they could go out and gain more lifespan when they needed it, they could never run out. Only the greedy disciples complained, but their dissatisfaction wasn’t enough to give up the Domain Power Metac and leave the Olympic Sect.

Because of the appeal of the Domain Power Metac and the Devouring Metac, mortals still rushed into the Olympic Sect despite the reduced lifespan boost. To compete with the Olympic Sect, the other sects had to increase their lifespan boost to 200%. But this also meant their disciples had long lifespans, making them prime targets for the Devouring Metac.

The disciples of the Olympic Sect would kill people from other sects with smaller lifespans. Then they would hunt disciples of sects with longer lifespans and use the Devouring Metac. It was a nightmare.

While this was going on, the auction for Loki’s Gemini partner for the invasion of worlds was completed. The winner was a giant four-armed gorilla who called himself Titan.

Like other Gemini younglings, Titan was black from head to toe. But he also had six arms and a mandible, which gave him a spider-like visage. It also reminded Loki of Black Chain’s appearance.

Black Chain also looked like a hybrid creature, a fusion of a monkey and a spider. The similarity between Titan and Black Chain made Loki check Titan’s godheads to see which pathways he had.

Upon inspecting Titan, he saw that the gorilla also possessed the Enslavement Supreme Metac. This similarity made him curious about the relationship between appearance, race, and Supreme Metacs.

His eyes swept over the Gemini younglings as he thought, ’The Geminis clearly don’t look like each other. Yet, they all belong to the same race. So it would seem that race doesn’t affect appearance as Dao Lords.’

’On the other hand, I know with certainty that the Supreme Metac that a Dao Lord uses tends to affect their appearance. Especially the first one that the Dao Lord uses to ascend.’

’That first one has the most impact on reshaping their Dao Body. If I didn’t know better, I would think it was the Supreme Metac that decided race and appearance.’

’But race and appearance aside, as far as I know, race and appearance shouldn’t matter to Dao Lords. Only godheads, Supreme Metacs, and divinity should determine the power of Dao Lords.’

’Yet, the Gemini are stronger than other Dao Lords as a race because of their powerful civilization and are stronger as an individual because of their powerful racial talent. Where does their racial talent come from, and why is their civilization hell-bent on creating more Gemini?’

’Surely, there has to be a benefit to expanding the race, right?’ he asked uncertainly.

’It should be something like establishing and expanding a sect. There should be a benefit to doing it. If there isn’t a benefit, then I don’t know why anyone would want to expand their race.’

While he thought about the significance of race to appearance and the power of Dao Lords, his avatar in the lower realm stopped moving worlds and began transporting the divine beings he borrowed to the first world they would invade.

In the week that the auction was prepared, he had the Rank 8 cultivators send over every divine being in their alliance. He also had every divine being get at least two Divine Positions.

Many of them had always wanted more Divine Positions, but they had to watch various factors and be wary of each other. But now that he was breathing down their necks and making it an assignment that all of them grow stronger, no divine being dared to interfere with another divine being’s attempt to create a new Divine Position or take an old one.

Even the Dao Lords above didn’t interfere with this process. They knew that Loki was doing this to make the hired help stronger and more useful to him. But it also meant more divine beings would survive the battlefield if they were stronger, so they let the development happen.

However, the Dao Lords still refused to let any divine being, especially the Rank 8 ones, have up to 5 Divine Positions. They relaxed their restriction on the maximum size of Cave Heavens, but they absolutely refused to allow their disciples to advance.

Some of the divine beings also took his interference as an opportunity to advance. A few Rank 7 alliance members took the fact that Loki didn’t want anyone to kill them as an opportunity to advance to Rank 8, which is the same cultivation level as their alliance leaders.

Advancing to the same cultivation level means competing with the alliance leader for control of the alliance Cave Heaven. If an alliance member were to get a higher cultivation than the alliance leader or gain a higher level of control of Divine Positions than the alliance leader, then the position of alliance leader could change hands.

In a normal situation, the alliance leader would kill the upstart before their position was threatened. But thanks to Loki and his explicit order to stop killing each other unless they wanted to get him angry, no alliance leader had the nerve to snuff out the threat before it became something too difficult to get rid of.

The alliance leaders could only encourage themselves, saying, "It is just 100 years. Not much can happen in that amount of time. Once I am free, I will kill the fool who dares to covet my position."

Every divine being was thinking about different things as Loki took them to their first battlefield. Some of them were happy for the opportunity to grow stronger, while some people were resentful about being forced to work for Loki. The majority of them were the later.
