Chapter 1217: Two Birds One Stone.

"An offer I can’t refuse? I’m listening," Loki said, intrigued.

"I have noticed that you don’t have any divine beings. How about I give you all of the Rank 6 divine beings that I lent you earlier?"

"You won’t need to return them after a hundred years. They will serve you forever and ever until they die."

As Tepid Scholar made this offer, he thought inwardly in anticipation, ’Take the deal, you little shit. Ask for more divine beings if you want. I’ll give them to you.’

He got the idea to use the divine beings Loki wrangled from him as bargaining chips when he heard that one of Heavenly Eye’s Rank 8 cultivators was dying. The true goal of making this offer is to preserve the lives of his divine beings.

If Loki gained eternal use of the divine beings, it goes without saying that he would try to keep them alive for as long as possible compared to the ones he could only use for a hundred years.

Not only would Loki prioritize the safety of the divine beings he could use forever, but he was also likely to allow them to grow stronger so that they would be more useful to him in the long run.

All of these would benefit Tepid Scholar since he would be able to earn lifespan from the divine beings through the Life Leech Ability. The longer those divine beings stay alive and the stronger they are, the more lifespan he would be able to earn from them.

So even though he appeared to be losing the divine beings in this deal, compared to them dying, this alternative was much better. And he would only give away the Rank 6 and Rank 7 divine beings.

That way, Loki would have to protect their Rank 8 alliance leaders so that the Rank 6 and Rank 7 won’t die. After all, once the alliance leader died, Loki would lose the alliance members that he paid a high price to use for an eternity.

Preserving his divine beings was the main goal of his offer, but it also gave him a chance to examine that silver wolf in the divine constellation, making the deal an attempt to kill two birds with one stone.

He was waiting for Loki to get greedy, as he always did, and ask for more divine beings in the deal, but Loki wasn’t interested.

When he heard the deal, Loki snickered inwardly and thought, ’As far as I am concerned, they are already mine. Why would I give up something as precious as the Domain Power system for something that’s already mine?’

Just then, Heavenly Eye snorted and said, "That disciple is surely dead now. I can’t sense him anymore."

"His Divine Positions have returned to the divine constellation. Even all of the members of his alliance died. That’s seven divine beings down the drain."

"You have only yourself to blame for this," Tepid Scholar said as he snorted in displeasure.

"You and Martial Will are to blame for this. I told you many times it was a bluff, but you still fell into his trap. Now you have to deal with the consequences," Tepid Scholar said in anger.

This time, his anger wasn’t faked. He was really angry with Heavenly Eye for not discouraging Martial Will and instead going along with him.

Heavenly Eye knew that she bore part of the blame, but she still sneered and said, "Feel free to point fingers now. I want to see how you will feel when your divine beings start dying."

Then she said to the other Dao Lords, "At the rate of 7 divine beings dying per day, we would lose all the divine beings in 21 days. So in at most 21 days, it will be your turn to feel the pain of the loss. What will you do then?"

’That’s why I am trying to get this Ragnarok fellow to protect them with his life,’ Tepid Scholar thought with pride.

The divine constellation of the Blessed Heaven World and the other super worlds had dimmed by more than half after Black Chain ran into some hard times and lost all of his divine beings for some reason. But the divine constellation was still bright.

Losing seven divine beings did affect the divine constellation’s brightness. But it had a minimal impact. If they didn’t look too closely, they wouldn’t notice the missing light in the divine constellation.

Only Heavenly Eye looked closely and made a fuss about the loss. But even if she didn’t look closely, there was no way she would miss 18 Divine Positions from 7 divine beings going dim. And when she considered how much more she stood to lose, there was no helping making a fuss about the loss.

Unfortunately, she couldn’t do anything directly. She couldn’t interfere, or Ragnarok would kill all of them. She could only make a fuss and encourage every other Dao Lord to put pressure on Ragnarok when they started suffering losses like her.

She knew that she had exaggerated when she claimed that all of their divine beings would die in 21 days. According to her internal estimates, the death of the Rank 8 deceiver should have been a fluke, and the 147 divine beings should be able to last at least 21 years.

She had only claimed 21 days to rile them up and bring them to her side. So she was stunned into a stupor when the divine constellation began dimming at an alarming rate.

In just one second, one Rank 8 cultivator and the divine beings in their alliance died. Then, in the next second, another Rank 8 cultivator and everyone in their alliance died.

Every second, one alliance disappeared, taking an average of 7 divine beings with it. So in 21 seconds, all 147 divine beings would be gone.

"This is much faster than I expected," she said in disbelief. "It is 86,400 times faster than the estimate of 21 days."
