Chapter 1304: Is He The Fourth?
Chapter 1304: Is He The Fourth?
"But you killed the fourth brother," the one with white hair said, unable to believe what he just heard.
The grey-haired young man also said, "The fourth brother was only at Rank 9 when you killed him, and he didn’t have any godheads fused with his Supreme Metac. So there was no way he would have survived with only his Supreme Metac, reincarnated and returned."
"I know," the red-haired young man said. "But I also remember preserving some of his spirit and putting it into a mortal in hopes he would reincarnate."
Shaking his head, the white-haired young man said, "That was over three thousand years ago. His weak spirit would have dissipated a long time ago."
"What if he survived by parasitizing his host and changing hosts from time to time?" the red-haired young man asked, unwilling to give up.
The white-haired one immediately said, "A Supreme Metac, no matter how damaged, isn’t something mortals can withstand. He would have to change hosts frequently, which would be difficult and would also increase the risk of exposure."
"But is it possible?" the red-haired young man asked stubbornly.
Sighing, his brother could only say, "Yes, it is possible."
After getting the confirmation he wanted, War Mongerer asked, smiling, "Isn’t that great?"
"No, it isn’t," Wandering Thief said.
"Clearly, he doesn’t recognize us. He has probably forgotten his past and is a new person created by fusing the Supreme Metac with a compatible host."
"So far, his previous identity means nothing to him, and it doesn’t matter to us if he is our fourth brother or not. Therefore, he might as well be dead."
But War Mongerer shook his head and said, "Let’s confirm if he is our brother or not before we decide if he matters or not."
"You’re not going to give up if he is truly the fourth brother, are you?" Wandering Thief asked skeptically.
"No, I won’t," War Mongerer replied honestly.
Before he was asked why, he explained, saying, "I feel bad about how it ended between us. I tried to save him back then, but I couldn’t. I could only kill him to put an end to the misery."
"Then I put him in a mortal in hopes he would return. If Ragnarok is truly our fourth brother, it means what I did helped him. It means I saved him, and he’s back, doing better than before. How can I let go of that so easily?"
Hearing this, Wandering Thief didn’t try to convince him otherwise. He said, "When I first saw him, I thought he was familiar. But no matter how I racked my brain, I couldn’t figure out where I knew him from."
"Clearly, I lost a lot of memories if I can’t remember our fourth brother. If that can happen to me even though I had a godhead to protect my Supreme Metac, I can’t imagine what he went through."
"So maybe he is truly our fourth brother. Who knows? Anything is possible."
War Mongerer nodded and said in agreement, "Exactly. Anything is possible."
Then he said to Nameless Fool, "How is it going?"
Nameless Fool, the one with grey, translucent hair, had closed his eyes as he activated his Supreme Metac. The other two waited for his expert opinion on their fourth brother.
When he was done searching for the answer, he opened his eyes and said, "The good news is that I can confirm that Ragnarok isn’t his original name. So there is a chance he is the Fenrir we know and love."
"The bad news is that I can’t confirm if he used to be Fenrir or not. It could be him or not. Either way, I can’t tell."
War Mongerer wasn’t disappointed. He said, "At least you didn’t confirm that he isn’t Fenrir. That’s good news."
Wandering Thief couldn’t take it anymore and rolled his eyes as he said, "They don’t even have the same Supreme Metac. Other than the fact that they share the same Devouring Pathway, their Supreme Metacs have different abilities."
"It could be that the Supreme Metac changed after Ragnarok upgraded it. It shouldn’t be surprising that the Supreme Metac changed after it was upgraded to a Cosmic Dao," War Mongerer explained defensively.
Nameless Fool also came to the rescue, saying, "Fourth brother also wanted to upgrade his Supreme Metac badly. If this Ragnarok is the fourth brother, everything will fit."
"Forget it. This is all speculation. It doesn’t change anything until we confirm that he is the fourth brother. Even then, I don’t think it will matter," Wandering Thief said, disgruntled.
"What we should be worrying about right now is how to establish more Domains and prepare to help our super world ascend. Seeing how Ragnarok behaves, he will be an obstacle to both things."
"He will surely prevent us from establishing Domains on his super worlds, and he won’t want us to help our super world ascend because it will weaken him. So what we should be talking about is how to deal with him, not to argue if he is our long-lost and estranged fourth brother," he finished with his voice rising in frustration.
War Mongerer nodded and said, "You have a point there. Even if he is our fourth brother, he is currently standing in our way, and something needs to be done about that."
"How about we chat with him and come to an agreement?" Nameless Fool suggested. "With my luck, it might just work."
But Wandering Thief shook his head and said, "He is too strong. I doubt you’ll be able to influence him with luck."
"The best way I can think of is to come to a mutually beneficial agreement with him. As for using force, I don’t think we have enough power to make it work."
"What if we promise to help him become a Domain King?" War Mongerer asked.
"That could work," Wandering Thief said, nodding his head. "He would surely be to make that trade with us."
