Chapter 1312: Are You Offended?

No matter how he looked at it, none of them did anything wrong. But Wandering Thief wanted Loki to be in a good mood, so he took the initiative to apologize on their behalf.

After hearing what Ragnarok said, he sighed in relief and said, "That’s good to hear."

"But are you really not offended? Because if you are, you can make some demands to appease your anger."

Ragnarok became skeptical and alert immediately. By now, he had noticed that Wandering Thief was being overly polite, so he sensed that a scheme was afoot.

With his vigilance heightened, he said, "I’m good."

"If I were not satisfied, I would have come to you with demands a long time ago. I don’t need your encouragement to seek restitution for slights against me."

Hearing this, Wandering Thief nodded and said, "I am glad to hear that because I have a proposition for you. I am, and my two disciples are willing to swear an oath to help you become the Domain King."

His voice was full of sincerity as he said, "I am even willing to swear on my Dao Heart. That’s how sincere I am."

"All I ask in exchange is that you help me and my disciples become stronger. Help us expand our Domains throughout the lower realms, and we will use that power to help you."

"We will join your Divine Court and help you secure it from within. Since we won’t be Mountain Lords, we will not be a threat to your quest to become the Domain King."

"Then we will help you manage the lower realm and prevent other Dao Lords from expanding their Domains. We will even invade worlds for you."

He went on and on, listing the benefits of their cooperation while Loki listened and tried not to curse. Loki didn’t even twitch an eye. His face remained straight and calm, as if he didn’t notice that they wanted to cheat him and as if he wasn’t furious inside.

"That sounds like a good idea," he said. "We should do that. I can even help your sect expand."

"That’s good to hear," Wandering Thief said, smiling. "It means a lot to us to be able to serve someone as powerful as you."

"Where will you get the lifespan to expand your Domain, though?" Loki asked nonchalantly.

"You should know that Domains aren’t cheap to expand or create, right? Your disciples are new Dao Lords. And you haven’t been a Dao Lord for long, so where are you going to get the lifespans to establish your Domain?"

Nodding in agreement, Wandering Thief said, "You have a point. We really need your help establishing and expanding our sect."

"The current state of the Sea of Worlds has made the traditional sect system obsolete. If you can’t extract lifespan from mortals, you can’t compete at all. What do you plan to do to fix that problem?" Loki asked.

"Actually, we planned to do what you did and create a new cultivation system. I’m sure I’ve made a fool of myself saying that," Wandering Thief said, chuckling with fake embarrassment.

"No, I don’t think so. In this current situation, I believe it is the right thing to do to excel is to challenge existing norms," Loki said in encouragement.

"Now, what did you mean by a new cultivation system, and what did you plan for it?"

Wandering Thief hesitated lightly, unwilling to expose one of their crucial plans to Ragnarok. But then he remembered that Ragnarok already had a superior cultivation system and didn’t need theirs, so he loosened up.

He also thought, ’Besides, we can reverse time, and it would be like it never happened.’

After assuring himself that everything was fine, he said to Loki, "After looking at our normal Core Metac and the new golden one that the Gemini were using, we saw differences that made us suspect that they were not the same kind of Metac at all."

"We believed that the golden seed might not be a Core Metac at all. The fact that every Gemini youngling could use it and they were the same thing made the suspicion seem more credible to us."

"A Core Metac should be unique for each pathway. No two pathways should have the same Core Metac, much less two different sects with different pathways."

"The fact that every Gemini could use that golden seed reminded us of the Heavenly and Earthly treasures that the ancient cultivators all used to cultivate."

"There were different kinds of Heavenly and Earthly treasures with different abilities, but they were essentially the same thing, came from the same source, and had the same core function to help cultivators evolve."

"The golden seeds also have slight differences in their abilities depending on the pathway. But they have the same core ability, which made us realize that this could be an entirely new cultivation system."

At this point, Wandering Thief grew excited and said, "On the one hand, we were afraid because if we were right, the Gemini people might be changing the whole cultivation system from the ground up."

"On the other hand, we were excited to see something new and wanted to learn it. We thought it would be easy for us to learn to use it since basically anyone could use Heavenly and Earth treasures. But after a period of investigation, we realized we were wrong," he said solemnly, his earlier excitement nowhere in sight.

"From what we can tell, the golden seed they are using should be a part of something greater, the way a Core Metac is part of Supreme Metac. The golden seed should also be produced by something that we don’t have access to as Dao Lords."

Chuckling, he said, "My disciple, Nameless Fool, claimed that the golden seed should be a part of a tree. He said that the tree should produce the seeds the way the Will of the World produced Heavenly and Earthly treasures and the way Dao Lords produce Divine Positions."
