Chapter 1346: Undue Advantage.
So he essentially combined the two functions. But in the process, he lost the ability to grant life to disciples. However, it was intentional, as it was a loss he had to make.
The Core Metac didn’t have much room for complexity. Since he wanted to add something to it, he had to remove other functions and instructions to make room for the new one.
The second function he added was how to make the Core Metac grow like Heavenly and Earthly Treasures. He chose this because he had more influence over the Core Metac than his disciples.
He wanted to help his disciples grow stronger faster, and there were ways to do this, which basically meant giving his disciples a lot of resources. But that was expensive, and he thought it was inefficient.
Instead of helping his disciples grow, he decided that it was a better use of his time to help his Core Metacs grow. Since he could point out exactly how the Core Metacs would grow, he was all the more for it.
The two objectives, helping disciples grow and helping Core Metacs, are actually intertwined since mortals grow hand in hand with their Core Metacs. But they only affected each other. They weren’t the same thing.
A cultivator would advance by upgrading their Core Metac. And the higher the Rank of their Core Metac, the higher their cultivation could get.
But he wanted to eliminate the barrier and make the Rank of the Core Metac equal to the mortal’s cultivation. He also wanted the Core Metac to advance without bottlenecks, without needing special materials or refinement to upgrade from one Rank to the next.
This meant he had to combine the instructions in the Rank 1, Rank 2, Rank 3, Rank 4, and Rank 5 versions of the Core Metac into a single version mortals could use from Rank 1 to Rank 5.
If successful, the Root of Life would become more complex and also more expensive to make. So he might have room to grant lifespan once he’s done making the Core Metac capable of growth. Only time would tell.
While Loki worked, the world moved on. The guardian had finished forcing the other Dao Lords to have children a long while ago and had already unsealed the Sea of Worlds. The four ships carrying guests had also arrived.
All of these happened long before Loki went down to the Blessed Heaven World to bait Dao Lords. Now that some more time had passed, the Gemini younglings were out and about.
White Loki was the first to notice the Gemini younglings. He ran into them while fusing the Rank 1 to Rank 5 versions of the Root of Life into one.
Even without the spark of power, he could fuse them easily. After all, it was only a mortal Metac while he was a Dao Lord with supreme mastery in 83 Supreme Metacs.
So this project was going well for him, and he was making a lot of progress. But he stopped his work to establish his Divine Mountain.
As usual, he began by activating the Mountain Lord Ability. Upon activation, the golden mountain left his inner world, appeared in the upper realm, and settled down with a large bang.
He had established the Olympic Divine Court several times before, but he paid extra attention this time because the Divine Mountain was different. Unfortunately, nothing different happened the whole time.
The Divine Mountain grew golden roots, which it used to pull the fragmented landmasses in the area onto itself. It created a black pillar to offload Entropy into the River of Death, and the same phantom sphere appeared above everyone’s head when the Divine Mountain was established.
Everything happened the same way it used to do. The only difference was that instead of nine phantom figures on the golden mountain after it was established, there were nine hundred and ninety-nine slots.
When Loki saw this, he said, "Take that, Heavenly Court."
The Heavenly Court had ascended with 99 slots, 11 times as many slots as the Olympic Divine Court used to ascend with. But now he had 999 slots, 111 times as many slots.
With this many free slots, the Olympic Court would have 999 members before they needed to contribute celestial gold to expand the Divine Court and create more slots. If he wanted 990 slots with celestial gold, he would have needed to spend 990^2, or 980,100 units.
When he calculated how much celestial gold the extra 990 slots had saved him, he whistled appreciatively and said, "That’s nearly 1 million celestial gold that I’ve saved. That’s massive."
A Divine Court this size was already a great thing to have, for the fact that he’d never had up to 999 members before. Even in his heyday, he had over 300 members, which is still a third less.
But the focus shifted from the total free slots and how powerful it would make him to the fact that any Divine Court with 9 initial slots that wanted to catch up to the Olympic Court’s size in the future would need to spend a lot of celestial gold to do so.
Then, when they spent 980,100 units of celestial gold, he would need only one more unit to add an extra slot, for a total of 1,000 slots. But they would need to spend 991^2 - 990^2, or 1,981 units of celestial gold.
And when he needed to add an extra 101 slots to his 999 for a total of 1,100, he would need to spend 101^2, or 10,201 units of celestial gold. But they would need to spend 1,091^2 -990^2, or 210,181 units of celestial gold.
This is aside from the 980,100 units they had to spend to reach a size of 999 slots. Therefore, they would need to spend 1,190,281 units to reach a total size of 1,100 like him.
