Chapter 933: Debt Of Entropy.
Chapter 933: Debt Of Entropy.
As he stood there in front of the world barrier with one-third of the avatar in his hands, he looked at his bleeding chest and thought in wonder, ’All of this from a single touch. I am impressed. It seems a Dao Lord is not so easy to kill.’
’Not that I expected it to be easy. Fortunately, I have the opportunity to see exactly what’s so difficult about killing a Dao Lord.’
While he was thinking to himself, he spent some lifespan to heal the injury in his chest. He also spent lifespan to erode the law fragments of the Killing Pathway in his chest.
The law fragments of the Killing Pathway in his chest are what are responsible for his bleeding. Sword Maestro implanted them into his existence to ensure that the injury will never heal.
As long as the law fragments are in his chest, any amount of lifespan he spends to heal the injury will go to waste. Of course, Sword Maestro will have to spend lifespan to maintain the power of the injury. But the amount of lifespan he will spend on healing the injury will be many times greater than whatever Sword Maestro spends to maintain the injury.
Only by removing the law fragments in the wound on his chest can the injury be healed permanently. And only those in possession of a Supreme Metac can erode and remove the law fragments.
As it happened, he had a Supreme Metac. Plus, he was much stronger than Sword Maestro, so he was able to remove the law fragments instantly.
Then he used his Supreme Metac to devour the torso of the avatar of the Sword Maestro in his hands. The torso quickly shrank as the Devouring Ability got to work on it. This replenished all of the lifespan he spent on healing the injuries he just sustained.
In fact, he gained far more lifespan from the torso than what he used up just now to heal the wound on his chest. So in terms of lifespan, he came out on top. This put a smile on his lips as he stepped into the world barrier.
As soon as he stepped into the world barrier, the black wall assaulted him. The will of the world was angry with him, so it hit him with the full power of the world barrier.
For the first time in his life, the power of the world barrier drained his lifespan. It drained him like a giant squeezing a rag dry. Clearly, the will of the world wanted to kill him.
The force of the siphoning was so powerful that the nine manifestations of Fenrir were destroyed instantly by the world barrier. He could have tried to maintain their existence, but this would have only exposed him to up to nine times more of the drain on his lifespan.
Not only was he losing lifespan, but his external body was also suppressed in the world barrier. Without his external body, he couldn’t suppress Sword Maestro anymore. So the avatar recovered most of his strength.
On the other hand, the avatar of the Dao Lord wasn’t affected by the world barrier. If not for the fact that the suppression of the world barrier could discriminate, the external body of the avatar would have also been exempted from law suppression.
So both Loki and the avatar had their external bodies suppressed. For divine beings, this suppression would make it impossible for them to use Divine Metac in the world barrier. But for Dao Lords, the suppression can only remove the amplification of their Authority.
Even so, Sword Maestro was satisfied with this level of suppression. He stopped running and decided to fight Loki on this neutral battlefield.
By this point, the injury to his body had been healed, and the loss of his shoulder and torso had been recovered. At a glance, he looked perfectly fine, but only he knew the price he paid for his recent maneuver.
When he split himself in half and healed the injury with lifespan, he had incurred a huge debt of Entropy. That debt of injury had been borne by his true body so that the avatar could keep fighting without collapsing.
Everything a person does creates Entropy. Even something as simple as breathing or sleeping creates Entropy. Some of the Entropy is borne by the world, and the rest is borne by the source of the Entropy.
Once Entropy reaches the limit of the system, the system will collapse. For mortals and divine beings, this usually happens when they run out of lifespan. This is partly because they are weak and can’t produce much Entropy and because the world carries a large portion of their Entropy for them.
But for Dao Lords, most of their Entropy is carried by them. After all, their existence is being rejected by the world itself. So there is no way the world will want to protect them.
There is also the fact that their Supreme Metac can change the rules of the world itself, which will incur far more Entropy than some mortals can create in their entire lives.
The resistance of the rules of the world to change will create far more Entropy than destroying a mountain with a physical punch. After all, the destruction of the mountain will still follow the normal rules of force, matter, and energy transformation.
These two things, the higher output of Entropy and the fact that they have to bear 99% of their Entropy themselves, make it easily possible for a Dao Initiate or a Dao Lord to die even if they still have lifespan.
The advantage that a rank 9 avatar has over a rank 9 Dao Initiate in terms of dealing with Entropy is that the avatar can offset its Entropy to the true body. So in a way, even though the true body is not fighting Loki directly, Loki will have to kill the two of them before he can kill the avatar.
