Chapter 1244: Old Faces, Great Lord [4].

Although David had no idea how Alec had been able to recover so swiftly especially after surviving such a terrifying heavenly tribulation, however; he swiftly composed himself. He had long since given up trying to evaluate Alec by ordinary standards.

“If you are so eager to meet your end, I will summon the ones who will execute you,” David declared. Meanwhile, Alec placed his hands behind his back with an easygoing posture, completely unbothered even as they discussed his execution.

For the first time since appearing, Alec shifted his gaze toward the other figures in the sky.

“Hive Queen, deal with those four first, they aren’t worth the trouble,” Alec commanded nonchalantly. To the city lords that are connected to the Holy Grail Academy, his offhand remark felt far more insulting than a standard battle command.

Infuriated that he dismissed them as mere background fodder, Michael lost his temper.

“How dare you speak to us like that! Do you have any idea who we are?” Michael roared at Alec.

“Your wish is my command, Master,” the Hive Queen replied with a slight, rare show of deference. However, the moment she turned her attention toward the Holy Grail Academy lords and heard Michael yelling at her master, her expression shifted dramatically—a total 180-degree turn.

She launched into the air as Michael and Gabriel charged at her. Mid-dash, her base form blade-like legs extended out from her back, severing the heads of the Lightbringer twins in one clean stroke as she zipped past them.

Yet, the twins were merely collateral. Her true target was Julian, who felt an icy dread wash over him as she bore down on him.

“Alec, you might want to tell your black widow golem to leave that boy’s eyes intact—they could be useful,” remarked the system spirit golem who had come out and was leaning casually against a pillar as if enjoying a performance before it, it spoke while Alec kept his eyes fixed on David.

Without shifting his gaze, Alec issued another order:

“Hive Queen, sorry to interrupt, but just knock the remaining male mage unconscious and kill the other one.” The Hive Queen, who was actively engaging both Julian and Cassandra without suffering any disadvantage, nodded in acknowledgment.

Cassandra, who was now cornered, clung to the desperate hope that she might still find a way to escape, however she believed that if she failed at that, she would just have to plead for her life on the account of his friendship with her clansman.

She hesitated on using her clan’s name instead, knowing fully well that Alec had cared little for such influential backings in the past while in the five-kingdom region and would care even less now that he was in the origin realm far from where the ancient clans had any real influence.

At that moment, David finally finished weaving the complex spell runes he had been working on. Though puzzled as to why Alec had simply stood by and allowed him the time to complete the spell, David was convinced that Alec would soon regret his arrogance.

A wild, dark-green gateway materialized in midair, as its double doors swung open, revealing nothing to Alec’s view except for a swirling black vortex.

Figures then began filing out from the portal in disciplined, military-like formations. The moment Alec caught sight of their distinctive attire, he instantly identified the city lord David had summoned to back him up.

“Ryunosuke Takeda,” Alec uttered with a wry smile. Prior to his breakthrough, Takeda was the one person he actively preferred to avoid due to his bizarre five element body ability. Now, however, Alec could not care less about him.

[Status]

Unit name: Ninja

Tier: Peak 6

Rank: Chunin

Roughly a thousand Tier 6 mages filled the sky. It was the first time Alec had encountered someone else from the five kingdom group of mages capable of fielding an entire warrior unit of that caliber except from him.

He knew well enough how he had assembled his own forces; he had relied mostly on his system, which felt almost like cheating, as it was a major driver behind his military units’ rapid advancement. Still, he could not help but admire how formidable an S-rank potential could be when backed by adequate resources.

Just then, as the spatial gate was about to vanish, three additional figures emerged, as it dissolved into the air

The rank-and-file ninjas parted, making way for three figures whose distinctive attire set them apart. Adorned in specialized equipment and striking colors that contrasted sharply with the plain black suits of the rest, their authority was immediately clear to all observers.

They were the commanders of the surrounding ninja force enclosing Alec.

“Alec Gordons, long time no see,” Wind Takeda greeted.

“I wish I could say it’s been a pleasure,” Alec questioned calmly. “So tell me, are you here to take my head as well?”

“I hold no personal desire for that,” Wind Takeda replied with a faint smile.

“My objective is simply to suppress you, the fact that this portion of my avatars had to be summoned means you’ve exceeded what the attacking alliance could handle. In layman’s terms, you must die—not out of malice, but out of necessity.”

“Hypocrite,” Alec retorted, as his word seemed to strike a nerve.

“Attack,” Takeda commanded coldly, as the Tier 6 ninjas surged forward with raised blades at his word, shouting as they slashed straight toward Alec.

“Changdao,” Alec murmured in a voice barely above a whisper. Instantly, his blood Changdao materialized in his outstretched left hand, sheathed. Where the flaming patterns once adorned the scabbard, there were now crackling lightning bolts entwined with them.

Grasping the hilt, Alec drew the dark red blade, as sparks of lightning coursed through his body as he surged forward, charging into the swarm of ninjas.

He moved like a demon reaping lives, as a single sword swing from him sent multiple heads flying into the air, while a forceful push of his free hand caused gravitational force to repel countless others away from him.

Terrifyingly, the blood that was spilled from his slain foes was drawn upward, and began swirling around him to form a fluid, defensive barrier.

And whenever ninjas managed to slip into his blind spot while he engaged targets ahead, a massive blood maw would manifest from the surrounding blood pool, snapping forward to devour them whole.

Within five minutes, every single one of them lay dead, without relying on grand or flashy spells. Just by relying solely on precise sword swings coated with his Qi and the swirling pool of blood orbiting him, he had eradicated a thousand Tier 6 ninjas.

To the three Takedas, David, and the lords of the Holy Grail Academy, the sheer speed of the slaughter seemed entirely surreal, especially as they watched the surrounding blood move with an eerie, lifelike loyalty, guarding its master like a devoted hound.

“Come at me together, all at once, the warm-up is over,” Alec declared, as he waved his right hand using the motion to flick the blood off his blade before slickly snapping it back into the scabbard held in his left hand. With a wild, taunting grin, he fixed his gaze on the three Takeda avatars and David standing before him.
