The underground martial arena——wasn’t that the secret organization that collected experts from various countries?
Han Ye had encountered experts from there before.
Many of his sparring partners came from that place, but most of those so-called experts were nothing more than hollow reputations, names without substance.
They were far from being a match for him!
This person before him looked even younger than himself.
Han Ye couldn’t believe that there was anyone among his peers who could surpass him in martial arts!
After pondering for a moment, Han Ye coldly said, "Are you also a reinforcement summoned by the former Crown Princess? Ha, I really underestimated her. After being imprisoned in the imperial mausoleum for all these years, she has secretly plotted quite a lot! Were you the one who assassinated the embroidered-uniform guards of the Crown Prince Estate last time?"
Assassinated the embroidered-uniform guards of the Crown Prince Estate?
Gu Changqing glanced behind him, a dangerous glint flashing in his eyes.
Gu Jiao blinked innocently, pointing her index fingers against each other.
If I don’t admit it, then it wasn’t me!
Gu Changqing had been in the State of Yan for quite some time, and by now, he could respond fluently in the local dialect.
However, he lacked a natural talent for languages, so his accent still revealed some subtle differences.
“What country are you from?” Han Ye asked.
Han Ye, who sought to recruit any experts he encountered for his own use, was unaware that Gu Changqing was Gu Jiao's older brother, and simply believed that they shared an alliance in serving the former Crown Princess.
This kind of alliance was often the easiest to break.
But Gu Changqing had no desire to waste words with him.
Han Ye had injured his sister to this extent, and he would make sure to pay him back, one cut at a time!
And whatever Gu Changqing thought of doing, he did.
Wherever Gu Jiao was hurt, Gu Changqing ensured that Han Ye suffered three times that injury.
After dozens of moves, every one of Gu Changqing’s strikes drew blood.
Han Ye was being utterly dominated, almost like he was being ruthlessly beaten by Gu Changqing.
Gu Jiao opened Gu Changqing's pouch, revealing a package of jerky (which Gu Jiao loved), a small bag of crab roe pastries (another of Gu Jiao's favorites), and a small box of dried plums (yet another treat she adored).
Gu Jiao took out the jerky, eating while watching the duel between the two.
She could clearly see that Gu Changqing's martial arts had significantly improved compared to when he was in the State of Zhao. It seemed he had engaged in many battles at the underground martial arts arena during this time.
Nothing in the world came without effort.
Every reward was bound to have been achieved through countless hardships and obstacles.
“You’re not qualified to bully my sister!”
After coldly stating this, Gu Changqing kicked Han Ye in the chest, sending him flying.
The last sentence had been spoken in the language of the State of Zhao, and Han Ye didn't understand it; he only felt that this person's martial prowess was almost unbelievable.
From childhood to now, he had never encountered an opponent among his peers.
This young man before him was the first.
Seemingly sensing Han Ye's thoughts, Gu Changqing coldly replied, "You're mistaken; I’m the second."
If it weren’t for my sister’s strength being suppressed by the safety amulet, you would already be nothing but a heap of broken flesh!
Han Ye began to have thoughts of retreat, but Gu Changqing gave him no chance to withdraw.
Gu Changqing swung his sword and inflicted a wound on Han Ye's back!
Han Ye stumbled forward, rolling several times on the ground until he finally steadied himself by crashing into a tree stump.
On the ground, his blood formed a large pool.
Gu Jiao chewed on a piece of jerky.
Mmm, this is perfect for eating with rice.
To be honest, the gap in strength between Gu Changqing and Han Ye wasn't significant enough to cause such a complete defeat for Han Ye.
The reason for Han Ye being so thoroughly beaten was primarily because he had injured Gu Jiao, provoking Gu Changqing’s fury.
When people were in a fit of rage, they could often unleash a stronger potential and combat power.
Han Ye lay heavily injured on the ground, trying to grab the sword that had been knocked away, but Gu Changqing flicked his sword aside with a single strike.
Gu Changqing raised his long sword and swung it down viciously towards Han Ye's head!
Han Ye shut his eyes.
At the critical moment, three hidden weapons suddenly shot from the side.
Gu Jiao’s brow furrowed slightly, and she flicked her hand, sending out her Tanghua needles.
Two of the hidden weapons were deflected, while the third was knocked aside by Gu Changqing’s sword.
In the brief moment that Gu Changqing blocked the hidden weapons, a man dressed in silver leaped forward, using his qinggong to grab Han Ye from the ground and carry him away.
Gu Changqing glanced at Gu Jiao under the big tree, resisting the urge to chase after them, but it was impossible for him to let Han Ye go just like that.
He slashed through the air, sending out a wave of sword qi.
The opponent clearly didn’t expect him to have such a move and didn’t manage to evade in time while carrying Han Ye.
“Ahhh———”
A pained scream rang out as Han Ye’s Achilles tendon was severed cleanly by the sword qi!
“It’s Qi Xuan.” Gu Jiao said.
“Qi Xuan from the Tang Sect?” Gu Changqing’s sword-like brows furrowed.
“That’s him.” Gu Jiao nodded.
Gu Changqing said, "I've heard of this person at the underground martial arena."
Qi Xuan had also come to Shengdu in the State of Yan through the underground martial arena, where he ranked seventh on the expert list.
Gu Changqing’s current ranking was eleventh.
However, while it took Qi Xuan two years to reach the seventh rank, Gu Changqing had only been there for two months.
During these two months, Gu Changqing had fought day and night, all in an effort to reach Shengdu as quickly as possible.
Gu Changqing sheathed his long sword, knelt on one knee in front of Gu Jiao, and asked, “Does it hurt?”
“What? Oh, the injury? No, it doesn’t hurt.” Gu Jiao shook her head casually.

Description:
In the suspenseful supernatural novel “Records of Mortals,” Jiang Baiyan, once a solitary and impoverished youth, finds refuge in the Shi family of Chang’an due to his extraordinary bloodline. With his clear and captivating peach blossom eyes, this seemingly innocent young man conceals a fanatical and malevolent lunatic within. Destined to succumb to darkness amidst hardship and degradation, he becomes a harbinger of chaos.
When Shi Dai suddenly transmigrates, she takes on the role of the Shi family’s young lady, the one who subjects him to countless trials, eventually leading to her demise.
The twist? She never got to finish reading the novel.
From what she knew of the plot, Jiang Baiyan was just a silent, timid, and often bullied pitiable character.
***
Jiang Baiyan had never encountered someone like Shi Dai.
After he had slaughtered all the evil creatures in the garden, the blood-stained young man, exuding a murderous aura, approached her step by step, his lips curling into a malicious smile, "Scared?"
Shi Dai responded, “You’re really amazing! I applaud you until I spin like a spiral and fly around the moon three hundred times! And also——you have dimples when you smile!"
Jiang Baiyan: ...?
—
After seeing her at a lantern festival with another man, Jiang Baiyan lowered his eyes, his fingers twirling her hair. He said in a mocking and sinister tone, "The mansion in the western suburbs...if I hide you there, no one will find you, right?"
Shi Dai replied, "Does it come with meals and lodging? Can I sleep in everyday? Oh, and your cooking is the best!"
Jiang Baiyan: ...?
—
Jiang Baiyan was supposed to dislike her, even hate her, but as their separation drew near, his eyes turned red and he grabbed her sleeve, pleading, "Don't abandon me, alri—”
Shi Dai responded, "Alright, alright, I’ll only have you. Mwah."
Jiang Baiyan: ...?
He hasn't finished his lines yet though…
