Back when Gu Jiao was fighting in the underground martial arena of the State of Zhao, she already wanted to use the name "Long Aotian."
However, the State of Zhao had strict regulations, forbidding ordinary people from using the character “Long” (dragon), so she regretfully chose the name Heaven Dominator (Xiong Batian) instead.
The State of Yan, on the other hand, didn’t seem to have such restrictions, so Gu Jiao generously bestowed the name Long Aotian upon Gu Changqing.
And because the name was given by his younger sister, Gu Changqing was very pleased.
However, the Crown Prince was speechless at such a ridiculous name.
That said, now that Han shizi was injured, the Crown Prince was currently in need of a formidable expert by his side.
Long Aotian arrived at just the right time.
Pang Hai quietly asked Gu Changqing, “Why did you change your name?”
Gu Changqing replied without batting an eye, "Oh, I got tired of the old name."
Since everyone in the underground martial arena used aliases, when Gu Changqing told him his real name, Pang Hai assumed that was just another alias.
Changing it was no big deal; Pang Hai didn't care.
Whether someone was truly skilled wasn't something the Crown Prince would believe just because Pang Hai said so. The Crown Prince called over the embroidered-uniform guards from his residence and had them spar with Gu Changqing.
Ten embroidered-uniform guards were swiftly defeated by Gu Changqing.
A glimmer of admiration flashed within the Crown Prince’s eyes. He turned to his trusted bodyguard and asked, "How does his skill compare to Han Ye?"
The trusted bodyguard looked at Gu Changqing, who had just sheathed his sword, with a complicated expression and quietly replied, "I believe his martial arts may be superior to Han shizi's."
The Crown Prince smiled slightly, "Is that so? Then it seems this prince found a treasure."
The trusted bodyguard hesitated for a moment before saying, "But we don’t know if this person is reliable. Does he genuinely intend to serve Your Highness?"
With full confidence, the Crown Prince responded, "This prince is the Crown Prince, the future Emperor of Great Yan. A wise bird chooses the right tree to perch on. As long as he's not foolish, he'll be wholeheartedly loyal to this prince. However, you're right. The underground martial arena is full of shady characters, so this prince can't trust anyone blindly. Go and bring the item."
"Yes."
The trusted bodyguard left.
The Crown Prince walked over and called a halt to the sparring, "Alright, the fight is over."
The embroidered-uniform guards let out a long sigh of relief.
The trusted bodyguard brought over a small porcelain bottle.
With a smile, the Crown Prince said to Gu Changqing, "Drink this, and from now on, you'll be one of my closest confidants."
Pang Hai glanced at the bottle and nervously rubbed his nose.
He hadn’t mentioned this to Gu Changqing before they came.
It wasn’t easy to enter the Crown Prince Estate; there was always a price to pay.
Gu Changqing didn’t even ask what it was. He simply tilted his head back and drank the contents of the porcelain bottle in one go.
Everyone watching was a bit stunned.
The Crown Prince laughed heartily, "Good! Bold and straightforward! This prince truly admires your character! What you just drank is poison. You will need an antidote every month; without it, you’ll die from the poison. But don't worry—as long as you're loyal to this prince, I'll make sure you live longer than anyone."
The Crown Prince was very pleased with Long Aotian. Normally, experts like him didn’t qualify to have their own separate courtyard.
But the Crown Prince decided to make an exception for Long Aotian.
He ordered his servants to prepare an elegant and unique courtyard and assigned several servants to him.
Even when Long Aotian mentioned that he didn’t like having his freedom restricted, the Crown Prince readily agreed.
......
After leaving the Crown Prince Estate, Pang Hai asked Gu Changqing, "Why are you following me?"
Gu Changqing replied, "I need to make a trip to the outer city. Give me a ride."
"What? But I’m not going to the outer city..." Pang Hai suddenly felt the intimidating aura of Long Aotian radiating from Gu Changqing.
Just because he changed his name, he thinks he’s all that now? Why does he seem so smug?
Is this name really more impressive than Yama?
Pang Hai waved his hand, "Fine, fine, I’ll take you there, I’ll take you there!"
Gu Changqing got into Pang Hai's carriage.
The morning light was just beginning to break.
Old Master Mu finished his conversation with Su Yuan. The overall direction remained unchanged, still revolving around two matters—recruiting Xiao Liulang and obtaining the Black Wind Cavalry.
The former task was entrusted to Mu Qingchen to handle, while Old Master Mu had his own plans for the latter.
Old Master Mu said, "Su Yuan, you and Mu Tao come to my study."
Clearly, there was something he wanted to discuss with just the two of them.
Mu Qingchen said, “Grandfather, Mu Chuan and I will head back to the academy now.”
"Go ahead." Old Master Mu nodded kindly.
Su Hao said to Su Yuan, "Father, I'll wait for you in the carriage."
Su Yuan nodded.
Meanwhile, Mu Qingchen and Mu Chuan had already turned and left, with Mu Chuan chatting happily like closed brothers with Mu Qingchen.
In contrast, Su Hao trailed behind them, looking desolate.
Seeing this, Su Yuan couldn’t help but feel a bit sorry for Su Hao.
After leaving the reception pavilion, Su Hao called out to Mu Qingchen, "Fourth brother, did I say something wrong earlier? You seemed a bit unhappy."
Mu Qingchen furrowed his brows slightly.
Mu Chuan also stopped and scoffed at Su Hao, “Now you realize you said something wrong? Just a moment ago, you kept mentioning my fourth brother’s friendship with Xiao Liulang. I thought your brain had been kicked by a donkey!”
Su Hao, looking puzzled, said, "But Qingchen and Xiao Liulang are good friends, aren’t they? Third sister always says so..."
This isn’t about their friendship! It’s about you pushing my fourth brother into a pit of fire!
Mu Chuan took a deep breath, “Su Hao, that matter is in the past now. I don’t want to argue with you about it. Just know when to stop!”
Su Hao turned to Mu Qingchen, trying to defend himself, “I didn’t mean any harm. I was just eager to help my father. If I really said something wrong, I’ll go and explain it to him right now.”
Mu Chuan couldn't stand the way this big man was putting on such an act. He had been holding back a belly full of anger, and Su Hao's words ignited it all at once.
He raised his fist and swung it toward Su Hao’s face, knocking him down to the ground!
"Hao'er!"
It was Su Yuan’s voice.
Old Master Mu had called Su Yuan and Mu Tao to the study not to continue discussing lofty topics, but to convey certain details that the children shouldn’t overhear.
The three of them came out quickly.
But they didn't expect to witness this scene.
While the Mu Family held a higher status than the Su Family, and Su Hao was indeed an illegitimate child, none of this justified Mu Chuan bullying Su Hao without restraint.
By the time Su Yuan called out “Hao'er,” Mu Chuan had already thrown a second punch, and it was too late to retract it.
Su Yuan, with overwhelming inner strength, sent a palm strike through the air toward Mu Chuan.
Mu Qingchen moved in a flash, stepping in front of Mu Chuan and catching Su Yuan’s attack.
Su Yuan’s expression turned icy.
Mu Qingchen did not back down.
The two of them stood there in a standoff, and the atmosphere grew unbearably tense.
"Mu Chuan!" Mu Tao also came out. He glanced at Mu Chuan hiding behind Mu Qingchen, then at Su Hao lying on the ground with blood flowing from his nose. What was there not to understand?
Mu Tao, furious, walked over and grabbed Mu Chuan by the ear.
Mu Chuan bolted, "Grandfather, save me!"
He ran to hide behind Old Master Mu.
Mu Tao was so enraged he started stomping his foot, “Don’t hide behind your grandfather! Get out here! You think you’re brave now? Who gave you the right to hurt others?”
Mu Chuan darted around, avoiding his father’s fury.
Mu Tao took off his shoe and whacked him with the sole, but anyone could see that while it looked harsh, he wasn’t hitting with much force.
Old Master Mu said, "Chuan’er, apologize to the Fourth Young Master of the Su Family."
Mu Chuan pouted and glanced at Su Hao, then grudgingly said, "Sorry, my hand slipped and I accidentally hit you. But seriously, you and my fourth brother are from the same father. How is my fourth brother so good at martial arts while you’re so bad? I knocked you down with one punch!"
Su Yuan helped Su Hao to his feet.
Su Hao lowered his head in shame, "I’ve disgraced you, Father..."
Mu Chuan clutched his chest and almost retched.

Description:
In the suspenseful supernatural novel “Records of Mortals,” Jiang Baiyan, once a solitary and impoverished youth, finds refuge in the Shi family of Chang’an due to his extraordinary bloodline. With his clear and captivating peach blossom eyes, this seemingly innocent young man conceals a fanatical and malevolent lunatic within. Destined to succumb to darkness amidst hardship and degradation, he becomes a harbinger of chaos.
When Shi Dai suddenly transmigrates, she takes on the role of the Shi family’s young lady, the one who subjects him to countless trials, eventually leading to her demise.
The twist? She never got to finish reading the novel.
From what she knew of the plot, Jiang Baiyan was just a silent, timid, and often bullied pitiable character.
***
Jiang Baiyan had never encountered someone like Shi Dai.
After he had slaughtered all the evil creatures in the garden, the blood-stained young man, exuding a murderous aura, approached her step by step, his lips curling into a malicious smile, "Scared?"
Shi Dai responded, “You’re really amazing! I applaud you until I spin like a spiral and fly around the moon three hundred times! And also——you have dimples when you smile!"
Jiang Baiyan: ...?
—
After seeing her at a lantern festival with another man, Jiang Baiyan lowered his eyes, his fingers twirling her hair. He said in a mocking and sinister tone, "The mansion in the western suburbs...if I hide you there, no one will find you, right?"
Shi Dai replied, "Does it come with meals and lodging? Can I sleep in everyday? Oh, and your cooking is the best!"
Jiang Baiyan: ...?
—
Jiang Baiyan was supposed to dislike her, even hate her, but as their separation drew near, his eyes turned red and he grabbed her sleeve, pleading, "Don't abandon me, alri—”
Shi Dai responded, "Alright, alright, I’ll only have you. Mwah."
Jiang Baiyan: ...?
He hasn't finished his lines yet though…
