Also, many thanks to everyone who bought me coffee (*≧∀≦*)

Princess Xinyang decided to ignore Xiao Ji, because if she continued dealing with him like this, he would not be the one suffering from an unhealed injury, she would be the one who ended up with internal damage from sheer frustration.

“Qin Fengwen.” Yet this man clearly had no intention of letting the matter go so easily. “Although I understand that you have long been coveting me, I am severely injured right now, so if you truly want something, you will have to make the move yourself.”

Princess Xinyang: “!!!”

Could someone please give her a hammer!

She wanted to beat him to death!

She had originally already lain back down, but now she was so infuriated that she pushed herself up again with her elbow, gritting her teeth as she glared at him through the soft dimness of night. “Xiao Ji! Do not think that just because you are injured I will not dare to do anything to you! I warn you, if you keep talking nonsense like this, I will just…mm——”

In the darkness, Xiao Ji lifted his injured hand and with a gesture both domineering and gentle, he cupped the back of her head and pressed her down toward him.

Her soft lips immediately fell against his slightly dry ones.

She had never been this close to him while fully conscious, and her mind went completely blank with a sudden ringing shock.

The entire world seemed to fall silent, leaving only the pounding of her own heartbeat echoing loudly in her ears.

After their lips touched, Xiao Ji did not move any further.

He waited with patience, making sure she had time to adjust, and only when he was certain that the motion had not triggered any painful memories in her did he truly begin to kiss her.

It was a deep, lingering kiss.

Princess Xinyang was utterly stunned.

So this was… was this something that could happen?

Her heart was beating so fast, her chest felt tight, and she could barely breathe.

He loosened his hold on her just slightly and said in a low, raspy voice, “Idiot, breathe.”

“I… I cannot.” She felt as though she was about to faint, her entire body hot and trembling, and her face flushed red enough to drip blood.

Xiao Ji let out a mischievous chuckle. “Your heart is beating that fast?”

Princess Xinyang placed her hand on his chest, mumbling with a flushed face, “Yours is beating fast too, is it not?”

It was not a bit slower than hers.

It was truly unfair that although they both had racing hearts, she was the only one who looked completely flustered and out of sorts, while he appeared calm as though nothing unusual had happened at all.

So this kind of thing… also depended on natural talent?

Xiao Ji, the corners of his lips faintly curved, raised an eyebrow as he looked at her draped lightly over him. “Qin Fengwen, the next time you steal a kiss from me, you must at least follow this standard.”

“Who wants to steal a kiss from you?” Princess Xinyang muttered with absolutely no confidence, her face turning redder still.

“Sleep.”

She lay down beside him, still fuming.

Outside, the snow was falling and the cold wind howled.

She touched her lips, still soft and damp, replaying his deep kiss in her mind.

It was… something she truly liked.

……

The snow drifted down for most of the night.

Even after Princess Xinyang finally fell asleep, her heart continued pounding, giving her a feeling she had never experienced before.

It felt very unfamiliar, yet it was also incredibly beautiful.

Her emotions and her soft, unsteady breaths unconsciously affected Xiao Ji, and her unintentional teasing was the most fatal kind of temptation.

Unfortunately, Xiao Ji was injured to such an extent that he truly could not do anything more excessive, so he could only fall asleep honestly.

On the other side, Long Yi was doing his best to search for the two of them, but because the terrain beneath the ground was so different from the terrain above, it was already the third day by the time he finally found the exit of the cave.

During these three days, Xiao Ji rested peacefully and recovered from his injuries in the old woman’s home, and Princess Xinyang took off every single valuable item on her body and gave them all to the old woman.

As the old saying went, if you take someone’s money, you help them ward off disaster.

The old woman pretended that she herself had been injured and went to the village’s shaman to buy several packets of herbal medicine along with some specially made ointments.

Surprisingly, they worked quite well.

Xiao Ji’s fever receded, and his injuries gradually improved.

Yet on the night of the third day, an unexpected event occurred——a group of Dongyi soldiers suddenly arrived in the village.

At first, the two of them thought these Dongyi soldiers had come to capture them, but soon they discovered that was not the case.

The soldiers surrounded a carriage, and they appeared to be escorting someone of significant status.

When that person stepped down from the carriage, the two of them secretly peeked from the small slope behind the shabby hut and discovered that it was actually a man who wore a bamboo hat and a long veil, concealing himself tightly from head to toe.

“Are you certain it is a man?” Princess Xinyang asked.

“I heard his voice.” Xiao Ji said.

Princess Xinyang was startled. “You can hear from this far away.”

Xiao Ji gave a light smile. “Your man is very capable.”

My man… Princess Xinyang felt a burst of discomfort from the sudden, intimate way he addressed himself.

Xiao Ji seemed unaware that he had said something that would make someone blush and feel flustered, and after glancing in the direction of those people, he said, “Those Dongyi soldiers are very highly ranked, almost like the Dongyi King’s personal guards.”

Once they turned to serious matters, Princess Xinyang’s expression became much more solemn. “Could the person they are escorting be the Dongyi King?”

Xiao Ji shook his head. “That seems unlikely. The Dongyi King is at least fifty or sixty years old, and that is a young man.”

Princess Xinyang considered it. “Then the son of the Dongyi King?”

Xiao Ji answered seriously, “We cannot rule out that possibility. But why would he hide himself so completely?”

The two of them went to the old woman to ask if she knew anything.

The old woman knew nothing. She was only a rural villager, and the farthest she had ever gone was the forest ten li away, while the most important person she had ever met was the village head.

When they returned to the house, Princess Xinyang saw the thoughtful look on Xiao Ji’s face and knew that he already had a plan in mind.

She asked, “Are you planning to do something? They have many men, and your wounds are not healed completely. You are no match for them.”

Xiao Ji said, “I will not fight them head-on.”

Princess Xinyang’s expression changed slightly. “Are you planning… to replace that person and go meet the Dongyi King in his stead?”

Xiao Ji did not deny it.

Princess Xinyang clenched her fists. “Are you insane? You have only been recovering for three days! Your wounds are not even healed yet, and at a time like this, if you attempt to assassinate the Dongyi King, you are throwing your life away!”

Xiao Ji let out a relaxed smile. “As long as I manage to take him hostage, I will not die.”

Princess Xinyang frowned. “And if you fail to take him hostage?”

The smile faded from Xiao Ji’s face. “Xiao En and Xiao Ze are still in the hands of the Dongyi King. I have already been missing for three days. The Dongyi people saw me fall into the trap back then, watched me suffer heavy injuries, and saw Chang Jing pull me up. If I do not appear for too long, the Dongyi people might assume that I succumbed to my wounds.”

PLEASE CHECK OUT OUR NEW PROJECT:

Description:

In the suspenseful supernatural novel “Records of Mortals,” Jiang Baiyan, once a solitary and impoverished youth, finds refuge in the Shi family of Chang’an due to his extraordinary bloodline. With his clear and captivating peach blossom eyes, this seemingly innocent young man conceals a fanatical and malevolent lunatic within. Destined to succumb to darkness amidst hardship and degradation, he becomes a harbinger of chaos.

When Shi Dai suddenly transmigrates, she takes on the role of the Shi family’s young lady, the one who subjects him to countless trials, eventually leading to her demise.

The twist? She never got to finish reading the novel.

From what she knew of the plot, Jiang Baiyan was just a silent, timid, and often bullied pitiable character.

***

Jiang Baiyan had never encountered someone like Shi Dai.

After he had slaughtered all the evil creatures in the garden, the blood-stained young man, exuding a murderous aura, approached her step by step, his lips curling into a malicious smile, "Scared?"

Shi Dai responded, “You’re really amazing! I applaud you until I spin like a spiral and fly around the moon three hundred times! And also——you have dimples when you smile!"

Jiang Baiyan: ...?

After seeing her at a lantern festival with another man, Jiang Baiyan lowered his eyes, his fingers twirling her hair. He said in a mocking and sinister tone, "The mansion in the western suburbs...if I hide you there, no one will find you, right?"

Shi Dai replied, "Does it come with meals and lodging? Can I sleep in everyday? Oh, and your cooking is the best!"

Jiang Baiyan: ...?

Jiang Baiyan was supposed to dislike her, even hate her, but as their separation drew near, his eyes turned red and he grabbed her sleeve, pleading, "Don't abandon me, alri—”

Shi Dai responded, "Alright, alright, I’ll only have you. Mwah."

Jiang Baiyan: ...?

He hasn't finished his lines yet though…
