Also, many thanks to everyone who bought me coffee (*≧∀≦*)
With a flick of her sword, the Holy Maiden cut open Xiao Ji’s clothing, exposing the layers of bandages wrapped around his body in various sizes.
She lifted her brows slightly. “So that is how it is. I was wondering how you could possibly remain unharmed after falling into the trap I set. You must have infiltrated the Holy Maiden Hall for the sake of obtaining the antidote for your younger brother and your two illegitimate sons, correct? Unfortunately for you, while it is true that I have the antidote, your sons are imprisoned in the dungeons of the Dongyi King. But as long as you obediently listen to what I say, I can return your sons to you.”
Xiao Ji looked at her calmly. “And what exactly do you want me to listen to?”
The Holy Maiden sheathed her sword with a swift, elegant motion, then replied, “Marry me and become my husband.”
Xiao Ji: “…”
Xiao Ji looked at her, then pointed at his own head. “Are you sure something is not wrong up here? I killed so many people of the Dongyi tribe, and you actually want to marry me? Are you not afraid of betraying the Dongyi Tribe?”
The Holy Maiden lifted her chin, her voice lofty as she said, “If you come under my command, then from this day onward you will be a warrior of the Dongyi Tribe. You will kill even more soldiers of the State of Zhao for the Dongyi Tribe, and you will redeem your sins with your service.”
This was the funniest joke Xiao Ji had ever heard.
He laughed mockingly. “And what if I refuse? Will you kill me? Or will you kill my younger brother and my sons?”
The Holy Maiden looked at him with calm, unwavering eyes. “No. I will kill the attendant who came with you.”
Xiao Ji’s smile stiffened on his face.
He lowered his gaze with a brief laugh, then looked at her with a coldness in his eyes as he said, “For something like this, both sides must be willing, should they not? If I, this Marquis, do not want to marry you, then even if I do marry you, I will still abandon you.”
The Holy Maiden smiled. “No, you will not.”
Xiao Ji narrowed his eyes slightly.
The next second, he saw the Holy Maiden turn and press a switch on the wall, and the bookshelf beside her rumbled loudly as it slid aside, revealing a pitch-black secret chamber.
Xiao Ji, in his current state, could not exert much strength, so a surprise attack was impossible.
The Holy Maiden was precisely aware of his condition, which was why she dared let her guard down against him.
She entered the secret chamber, and when she came out, there was a white pill resting between her fingertips.
She held the pill as she approached Xiao Ji, then slowly lowered herself as her slender fingers lifted his chin. “Eat this, and you will become utterly devoted to me.”
Xiao Ji looked at the white pill, and a spark of realization flashed through his mind.
Could this thing possibly be the same kind of bewitching drug that Imperial Concubine Dowager Jing had once fed the Emperor?
The Holy Maiden clearly read his expression. “Oh? So you recognize it? This was originally a secret medicine of the Dongyi Tribe, but later it was taken to the upper state by a traitor of the Dongyi people. It is said that some apothecaries in the State of Yan have managed to reproduce this medicine, but the effects of their pills are far less potent and far less enduring compared to those made here in the Holy Maiden Hall.”
Stronger than the one the Emperor consumed? Just what kind of violently potent aphrodisiac was this supposed to be?
The corner of Xiao Ji’s mouth twitched, and he said flatly, “And what if I do not take it?”
The Holy Maiden said coldly, “You do not have a choice.”
Xiao Ji vaguely remembered that after consuming this kind of drug, the first person one saw would become the person one developed feelings for.
At that moment, he kept his eyes tightly shut and refused to open them no matter what, thinking desperately that as long as he pictured Qin Fengwen in his mind, everything would be fine.
If she had the ability, she could go ahead and slice his eyelids open.
Once the pill slid down his throat, its effects proved as potent as she had claimed, and within only a few breaths he felt a heavy, drowsy sensation wash over him.
He must not open his eyes, he must not open his eyes.
He forced himself to recall Qin Fengwen’s face in his mind and tried with all his might to push the image of the Holy Maiden out of his thoughts.
Thud!
It sounded as though something had fallen.
His consciousness began to blur, and the faces of the Holy Maiden and Qin Fengwen kept flashing back and forth in his head.
Since the last person he had seen that day was the Holy Maiden, it truly was not easy to remove her from his mind completely.
Fortunately, he possessed a willpower that ordinary people could never imagine.
After using nearly all the strength he had, Qin Fengwen’s face finally began to cover the Holy Maiden’s image, little by little.
Just then, he faintly felt as though he heard a familiar voice.
“Hey! Big guy! What is wrong with him?”
And in the very next second, Long Yi used his fingers to force his eyelids open.
Long Yi’s thumbs and index fingers pried his eyes wide apart.
Long Yi himself widened his eyes and stared without blinking. “Hello?”
Marquis Xuanping exhausted the very last trace of his mental strength.
Right before he completely passed out, he looked at Long Mengmeng’s face and clenched his teeth hard.
Damn it.
The Holy Maiden had probably calculated and recalculated countless times, yet she never expected that she would misjudge one single crucial step and end up preparing a wedding dress for Long Yi, who had barged in midway and taken everything for herself in the most effortless manner.
Since this drug originated from the Dongyi Tribe, naturally its medicinal effects would be far more potent on someone from the Dongyi Tribe.
After Xiao Ji fell unconscious, he immediately began to dream, and all the dreams were filled with nothing but the very last scenes he had caught sight of before losing consciousness.
The handsome Long Yi, the adorable Long Yi, the terrifyingly fierce Long Yi…
In short, no matter where he looked in his dreams, Long Yi was everywhere.
This was the effect of the drug, something no human willpower could resist.
By the time he finally woke up, Long Yi’s image had already been firmly engraved into his mind, as if carved there with a chisel, impossible to disperse.
“You’re awake?”
Princess Xinyang’s voice sounded from right beside him.
He opened his eyes and glanced around, only to discover that he was still inside the inner palace of the Holy Maiden Hall, lying on a small bamboo bed covered with tiger skin, and a thick layer of fur was draped over his body.
Charcoal was burning inside the hall, so it was not cold at all.
He looked at Qin Fengwen and then looked around again, and he swore that his gaze had merely swept past the Holy Maiden’s bed unintentionally.
Princess Xinyang let out a soft laugh and said, “You still want to sleep on that woman’s bed?”
Xiao Ji, who was inexplicably scolded out of nowhere: …What is this situation supposed to be now?
“Where is Long Yi?” he blurted out without thinking.
Only after asking did he realize something was wrong.
How could he ask about Long Yi first?
Even if he were to ask something, he should have asked why Qin Fengwen had come here.
Although the answer would definitely be that Long Yi had brought her over.

Description:
In the suspenseful supernatural novel “Records of Mortals,” Jiang Baiyan, once a solitary and impoverished youth, finds refuge in the Shi family of Chang’an due to his extraordinary bloodline. With his clear and captivating peach blossom eyes, this seemingly innocent young man conceals a fanatical and malevolent lunatic within. Destined to succumb to darkness amidst hardship and degradation, he becomes a harbinger of chaos.
When Shi Dai suddenly transmigrates, she takes on the role of the Shi family’s young lady, the one who subjects him to countless trials, eventually leading to her demise.
The twist? She never got to finish reading the novel.
From what she knew of the plot, Jiang Baiyan was just a silent, timid, and often bullied pitiable character.
***
Jiang Baiyan had never encountered someone like Shi Dai.
After he had slaughtered all the evil creatures in the garden, the blood-stained young man, exuding a murderous aura, approached her step by step, his lips curling into a malicious smile, "Scared?"
Shi Dai responded, “You’re really amazing! I applaud you until I spin like a spiral and fly around the moon three hundred times! And also——you have dimples when you smile!"
Jiang Baiyan: ...?
—
After seeing her at a lantern festival with another man, Jiang Baiyan lowered his eyes, his fingers twirling her hair. He said in a mocking and sinister tone, "The mansion in the western suburbs...if I hide you there, no one will find you, right?"
Shi Dai replied, "Does it come with meals and lodging? Can I sleep in everyday? Oh, and your cooking is the best!"
Jiang Baiyan: ...?
—
Jiang Baiyan was supposed to dislike her, even hate her, but as their separation drew near, his eyes turned red and he grabbed her sleeve, pleading, "Don't abandon me, alri—”
Shi Dai responded, "Alright, alright, I’ll only have you. Mwah."
Jiang Baiyan: ...?
He hasn't finished his lines yet though…
