The Green Tea’s Crushing Victories in the ’70s

Chapter 374

Chapter 374 - Tong Xuelu's eyes lit up. "You are here, Rugui." (3)

Tong Xuelu could tell right away that it was a go.

She stood up, smiling. “Yes, I came right away when the chauffeur came to pick me up. I wouldn’t want to make Minister Lin wait.”

Minister Lin was even more appeased after he heard that. “Follow me. Let’s talk about the details on the competition.”

Tong Xuelu quickly followed him.

Minister Lin sat down on the couch and his face relaxed. “Manager Tong, I’ve put a lot of effort for you into this.”

For her?

Tong Xuelu smiled and said, “I trust that Minister Lin did it for the betterment of the entire Commerce Department. I’m nothing but a measly little manager at a restaurant. I just happened to be benefiting from it is all.”

That was when Minister Lin realized that he had misspoken. “You are right. We are doing this for the furtherment of the department. I had already got the okay for Manager Tong’s competition. How confident are you in winning the first prize, though?”

Tong Xuelu put on a troubled look. “That’s hard to say. As the saying goes, keep your friends close, keep your enemies closer. I don’t know much about the competition or which restaurants would be entering. I dare not make any promises under such circumstances.”

Minister Lin paused a little upon hearing that. “Why don’t we do this. I will have Secretary Zhuo organize some information on the competition and send them to you!”

Tong Xuelu’s eyes lit up. “Thank you, Minister Lin. I am sure that the Commerce Department would continue to grow under your excellent management!”

Minister Lin’s laughter could be heard coming from the office.

Tong Xuelu’s lips curved upward. Sure enough, not very many people throughout the course of history could resist the power of rainbow fart.

***

Coming out of the Commerce Department, Tong Xuelu returned to the restaurant to finish her shift.

The tall young man returned again around noon time. He still glanced over at Tong Xuelu from time to time but still didn’t say anything.

Tong Xuelu couldn’t be bothered to pay him any attention. She left early as soon as it got slightly dark outside.

After she had returned home, she made a serving of dates and walnut treats and brought a set of high school mathematics, physics, and chemistry textbooks with her and headed over to the Wei’s.

Wei Ran looked baffled when he saw that. “Big Sister Xuelu, have you mistaken? I am currently a student at the College of Industry, Farming, and Military. I won’t be needing these.”

Tong Xuelu, “As the saying goes, you can never have too much knowledge. While you are a student at the College of Industry, Farming, and Military, possessing additional knowledge would never hurt.”

When Wei Guozhi saw that, he nodded. “Xuelu is right. I’ve heard that your training focuses mainly on political science or visiting factories or learning farming skills. You are not learning a lot in terms of professional knowledge.

“Take the textbooks and just look over them from time to time. It won’t hurt.”

Wei Ran was raised by his grandparents and what his grandfather said was rules to him. “Okay, I will accept them then. Thank you, Big Sister Xuelu.”

Wei Ran was a year younger than Tong Xuelu. He blushed and could not look her in her eyes the first time they met. Tong Xuelu had him refer to her as Big Sister and he had become much better when the two became more familiar with each other.

Kids always love birthdays, whether it was theirs or someone else’s. Food is always nice to have.

The few kids ate so much that their mouths were greasy. They giggled happily.

Tong Jiaming and the others brought gifts for Wei Ran also. There were candies, slingshot, etc.

Among them, Wei Zhuzhu gave her brother the worst gift of all. “Bodyguard, my gift to you is a wish card. I thought about it long and hard and this is truly what you need the most.”

Wei Ran took the piece of paper that his sister was handing over to him, unfolded it, read it, and his lips twitched wildly.

Written on there was, “I wish for my Big Brother to be less ugly next year.”

Wei Zhuzhu was disgruntled at his resentful look. “What’s that look on you, Big Brother? I only have your best interest in mind. You are going to have a hard time finding yourself a wife with your look otherwise.”

Wei Ran, “……”

Tong Mianmian cocked her head, turned, and said to Tong Jiaxin in her milky voice. “Third Brother, I will give you a wish card too on your birthday and wish that you will be less ugly as well.”

Tong Jiaxin, “……”

Same world, same awful sister.

Everyone laughed out loud when they heard that and the house was filled with laughter.
