Chapter 502: Hey look, a portal

Telia and Kai made their way to the infirmary to get a statement from the survivor. Along their way, many people bowed to them, mainly Telia, to show their respect.

Of course, Kai acted as if they were bowing to him as well, so he nodded at the people as if telling them that they could rise.

Some women had confused expressions, while others chuckled, knowing that he was just goofing around.

Upon arriving at the infirmary, the healers directed Telia to the room where the sword sect woman was recovering.

"Empress Telia." The woman tried to get up, but Telia stopped her.

"You are injured, stay in bed." She demanded

"I-I understand."

"Tell me what happened."

"We found a spy and questioned him. After revealing to us the brotherhood’s plan and their current location, we went to investigate. We confirmed that people were there, but it turned out to be a trap."

"A trap, you say?" Telia started to think. "How did you know it was a trap?"

"Because when we arrived, we were attacked right away. We held them off for a bit, but that disgusting demonic energy, our attacks started to do less and less damage while also tiring us out more than normal. Eventually, we could barely hold out on our own. I was told to run after my comrades made an opening for me." She then passed out from the pain she was in.

"Please excuse her, Empress. She is still recovering from demonic energy poison."

Telia understood and let her rest. "Kai, let’s go."

"As you were, doctor." Kai turned around and followed Telia.

"What do you think happened there?" Since Jin was familiar with demons, Telia wanted to hear his opinion on this matter.

"What do you mean? They were simply ambushed. What is there to think about?"

"N-No, I want to know if you think there is something else going on. Like, maybe this is a trap to lure me out."

"Oh. I don’t know. I’m more of a ’go with the flow’ kind of guy. I don’t really think. I do hypnotize people. That shit is fun!"

"Hypnotize?"

"Yeah."

"You’re weird, you know that?"

"That’s what makes me special."

The two of them returned to the castle, and Tellia summoned every important person in her court. When everyone arrived, Kai spotted Kyana and Sasha wearing extremely fancy outfits that suited them.

"Hey!" Kai ran over to them. "How have you two been?"

"Oh man, Kai, this place is awesome! Kyana and I are in charge of the punishments people get, and MAN, it’s so satisfying to kill some of them!"

Kai didn’t know if having Sasha in charge of someone’s life was a good idea, but hey, as long as she was happy, he guessed.

"It was alright. I knew people did a lot of bullshit, but man, they really did a lot of bullshit. Like, who robs a store of its money just to spend that money on the store you just robbed from?! It’s so stupid!" Kyana was stressed, and her patience was running thin.

"Don’t worry. I’m sure you both will be fine. And hey, if you get annoyed, just kill everyone. It works like a wonder every time."

Kyana nodded. "Not a bad idea. You’re pretty smart sometimes, Kai."

"Thanks."

"Okay, everyone, I have an important announcement to make. I will be leaving the palace for a while to investigate what went on in the canyon. I don’t plan on being gone for long, but the kingdom shall be placed on high alert just in case anything happens."

"Are you sure you need to go alone, Empress? One of our sects can handle it." Ione offered.

"That’s okay, Ione. In truth, I do not wish for you to send your members to their deaths. I haven’t told any of you this yet, but I have healed from my injury. My lovely servant here managed to heal my wounds, and I’m back at full power."

Kai waved his hand, smiling at everyone.

"I will be taking him with me."

"Huh? When did we agree to that?"

"I don’t need your opinion, sweetie."

Just from that banter alone, everyone knew how Telia saw Kai. She didn’t punish him for speaking out of turn, nor did she raise her voice at him.

"While we’re gone, defend the kingdom and look out for a surprise attack. While we don’t know if what that spy revealed was true, it’s best to be safe than sorry." With that, Telia concluded the meeting.

"Oh, you should also question that woman who ’found’ the spy." Kai added

"Why would we do that?"

"She somehow conveniently found the spy when the Sword Sect started looking for them? Come on, that’s so sus. I wouldn’t be surprised if she were actually the spy and had her servant take the fall." Kai saw this too many times in novels. It was pretty classic.

Telia nodded. "Yes, take that woman in for questioning. Is there anything else?" She asked everyone.

"Good. Then we’ll be off."

"Stay safe out there." Kyana kissed him on the lips.

"You know me, always in trouble. I don’t think ’safe’ is a word in my vocabulary."

"Heh, that’s why I’m telling you to stay safe, you bafoon."

"If you find anything valuable, send it my way." Sasha’s hands wanted to take a lot of things in the castle, but she resisted the urge.

"Oh yeah, speaking of that. Here." He took out some mana stones that he found in the Brotherhood base he blew up.

"Whoa! Are these mana stones?!"

"I think so."

"Haha! I feel good now. I don’t need to steal anything valuable anymore."

Telia slightly tugged at his arm. "Kai, let’s go."

"Okay. Gotta go, guys. Stay classy."

"Okay." They waved Kai off.

"What the hell does that mean?"

"I have no idea."

Kai and Tlia quickly made it to the canyon and found traces of a battle. Upon looking around to find clues, they both came across the bodies of the women who had fought here.

It was very unfortunate that they died because some of them were extremely hot, and Kai probably would have had sex with them. He placed their bodies in his inventory to bury them later.

’Should I hypnotize this whole continent for fun? I haven’t really used my powers like that in a minute. I think that would be super duper fun! Being here is making me all excited! I haven’t felt this giddy since the time I arrived in this world. Maybe it’s the new feeling of being in a woman-dominated society.’

"Hey, Kai. Check this out." Telia called him over as she stared at a circular mass of energy.

"Is that...a portal?"
