Chapter 1003: Malverna’s Return and a New Determination
Chapter 1003: Malverna’s Return and a New Determination
The Land of Death...
Nolan stopped at the edge of the abyss and stared at the large, pulsating cocoon floating in the middle of it.
"It should be time."
Just as he said that, the cocoon trembled before suddenly bursting open. Malverna slowly emerged from within.
"Ugh..." she groaned, rubbing her temples. "Where am I?"
"You’re awake?"
A teasing voice came from in front of her. She looked up and was surprised to see Nolan.
"Y-You..." Her eyes narrowed slightly. "Nolan?"
Nolan was stunned.
"You remember me?"
"What do you mean?"
Malverna was confused by his words. She flew toward him and landed in front of him.
"Everyone has forgotten me, but it turns out you haven’t. That’s really... surprising," Nolan said.
For a moment, he had thought he would have to explain his identity to Malverna.
Fortunately, that wasn’t necessary. The amnesia hadn’t affected her.
"Forgotten you?"
Three question marks seemed to hover above Malverna’s head.
Nolan had no intention of explaining it right now.
Malverna had just recovered, and she was surely still confused about what was happening.
"Come with me."
Nolan’s body turned into light and vanished from sight.
Although confused, Malverna quickly followed him.
The two of them appeared in a dense forest. Not far from where they stood was a lake.
Nolan walked to the lakeshore, then sat down and removed his mask.
Malverna sat beside him.
"By the way, what really happened to you? How did you die?"
Arnold had already told him everything, but Nolan felt that he needed to hear it directly from her.
The question left Malverna speechless.
Her memories of the final battle were hazy, but a moment later, everything came rushing back.
Her expression turned cold.
"I was attacked by a figure who looked just like you."
"A figure who looked just like me?"
Nolan was startled. The image of a certain man flashed through his mind.
"Don’t tell me he has the same Chaos Eyes as me, but with different pupils?"
This time, Malverna was the one who looked surprised.
"Huh? How do you know?"
Nolan didn’t answer. That man was the Order of Chaos. He had encountered him several times before.
"Other than him, I’m not sure who else could have done that to you," Nolan replied indifferently.
That man’s power was no weaker than Nolan’s. He also had abilities similar to Nolan’s—the power to control space and time.
"So I wasn’t seeing things, then?"
She had never met that man before. For a moment, she had thought he was Nolan’s twin.
"What happened after that?" Nolan asked.
"I don’t know."
Malverna shook her head.
"I lost consciousness when that man attacked me. Somehow, when I opened my eyes, the first thing I saw was you."
Nolan wasn’t surprised to hear that.
"I understand. We’ll discuss that later. There’s something more important right now."
He then explained to Malverna everything that had happened to him.
Malverna’s indifferent expression changed when she heard about the "punishment of the gods," being "forgotten by everyone," and everything else Nolan had experienced.
"You mean you didn’t end up in the world you were aiming for but in a parallel world instead?"
"That’s right."
Malverna took a deep breath when she heard that. It was hard to believe, but there was no way Nolan would lie to her.
"You’ve been on such an amazing journey. I’m so jealous. I want to experience something like that too," she said resentfully.
Traveling through the universe had always been one of her impossible dreams. She wanted to break free from this world and see just how vast the universe really was.
Unexpectedly, her dream had come true. But it wasn’t her who got to experience it—it was Nolan.
Nolan laughed at her pout. He poked her puffed-out cheek with his index finger and assured her, "If I get the chance in the future, I’ll make that wish of yours come true."
"Are you serious?"
Malverna was startled.
"That’s a journey through the universe, you know? The universe!"
"You don’t need to repeat that."
Nolan rolled his eyes before lying back on the ground and smiling at her.
"What’s so hard about exploring the universe? I have the ability to do it. I just can’t do it right now."
The Goddess of Life’s words from the past had stuck with him. It turned out he had a chance to become a god.
Nolan hadn’t been interested at first, but after traveling through the universe, his mind had changed.
Becoming a god might actually be a good thing. He would be able to protect his friends and family even better.
Malverna pursed her lips. It was a little hard to trust Nolan, but he had never lied to her before.
"All right, I’ll trust you. But if you break your promise, don’t blame me for being harsh with you."
She clenched her fist and shook it threateningly at him.
Nolan simply laughed at the threat.
"By the way, Malverna. Do you feel anything strange in your body?"
Malverna quickly checked herself.
"No. Is there something wrong with the formation of my soul?"
Nolan shook his head.
"It’s not that."
He sat up and explained, "I’ve never used the Pearl of Life before, so I don’t know if it has any side effects."
"I see." Malverna nodded in understanding. "Relax, I’m fine. Don’t worry."
She patted her chest confidently.
Nolan didn’t say anything else. He stood up, stretched his stiff body, and said, "Let’s go."
"Wait!"
Malverna quickly grabbed Nolan’s wrist.
"Hmm? What’s up?"
Malverna took a deep breath to calm herself before saying, "Nolan, I want to revive the demon race."
"Revive the demon race?"
Nolan raised an eyebrow.
"Didn’t you turn down that offer before?"
"I know."
Malverna stood up and looked at him, her gaze becoming serious as she stared deeply into his eyes.
"After that man shattered my soul, I wasn’t actually asleep. I had a dream... a dream where this world was completely destroyed."
Her voice trembled as she clenched her teeth.
"The powerful empires of this world were destroyed along with it. The Singularities were killed as well. They died gruesome deaths."
She paused for a moment before continuing.
"I didn’t see you, but your fate should have been the same as the Singularities."
Nolan was startled to hear that, but he had no intention of interrupting her.
"I couldn’t do anything. I was too weak back then. But if only... if only I’d had a strong army, things might have turned out differently, even if just a little. That’s why..."
She took a deep breath and tightened her grip on her wrist.
"I want to rebuild the demon empire and lead them down the right path! Please, let me do it!"
Whoosh!
A gust of wind swept past them.
Malverna’s white hair fluttered in the wind, and her eyes were filled with determination.
Nolan smiled and let out a quiet chuckle.
"I understand."
He patted her head and smiled reassuringly.
"In that case, go for it. I won’t stop you."
Convincing the world to accept the revival of the demon race would be difficult. But Nolan wasn’t worried.
After all, the Singularity of Life and the Singularity of Flame would surely support him and provide some kind of guarantee.
As for the dragon race on the western continent, he would ask Arnold to handle it.
Malverna breathed a sigh of relief. She had expected Nolan to reject her request, but he hadn’t.
"Thank you..."
