Chapter 565: Forbidden Book
Chapter 565: Forbidden Book
"So, what are you doing, Eira?" Elina asked curiously.
She saw Eira building a small house out of tree branches.
Eira was startled by Elina’s sudden appearance. But a moment later, she broke into a wide smile and puffed out her chest proudly.
"I’m preparing my love nest with Master!"
Elina: "..."
The corners of her mouth twitched at that answer.
She stepped closer and crouched beside Eira, observing the nest she had made.
The nest was made of twigs and leaves. It was very small—just large enough for the little dragon to fit inside.
"What do you mean, love nest? Where did you learn something like that?" Elina asked, pinching her cheek.
"Hehehe! I learned it from a book I found by accident, Elina!"
Eira turned and ran toward a table. She jumped onto it, grabbed a book in her mouth, and carried it back.
She placed the book beside Elina. Curious, Elina picked it up and read the title—Ten Tricks to Make the Person You Like Fall for You.
"Where did you get this book?" Elina asked, her tone turning sharp.
It was obviously a book meant for adults. How could this little dragon be reading something like that?
"Huh? I found it in Rafine’s room. I was curious, so I read it... and then I got interested in what it said," Eira explained enthusiastically.
"Rafine?" Elina stiffened.
Just then, hurried footsteps echoed behind her.
"Elina, have you seen a blue book in my room?" she asked in a flustered voice.
Elina glanced at the blue book in her hand, rose to her feet, and turned to face Rafine.
Keeping a straight face, she lightly waved the book and asked, "Is this what you’re looking for?"
Rafine’s eyes lit up at the sight of it. But in the next second, embarrassment flooded her.
Her face turned bright red as she hurried over and snatched the book from Elina’s hand.
"W-Where did you get this? Did you go into my room?" she asked frantically, quickly hiding it behind her back.
She had found the book by accident in the mansion’s library. At first, she had no idea what it was about.
But after reading it and understanding its contents, she was completely stunned.
It was a guide on ten ways to conquer a man.
For someone like her, who lacked knowledge in this field, this book was clearly very useful.
She hadn’t even finished reading it yet, and now it had somehow ended up in Elina’s hands.
’She won’t think I’m strange, will she?’ she wondered anxiously.
Elina chuckled softly at her reaction. She pointed at Eira and said, "She’s the one who took it—not me. I saw her building a nest over there, so I got curious about what she was doing. Who would’ve thought she learned it from that book?"
Rafine froze in shock. She slowly turned toward Eira, who gave her an innocent wink.
"So, you took it?"
"Mm! I took it! Please give it back! I haven’t finished reading it yet," Eira pleaded, stretching out her small paw.
She was only on the second Chapter, and there were still many more left.
Rafine slipped the book into her pocket and shook her head. "Sorry, I need it too."
At the same time, she turned to Elina, who was watching her with a playful smile.
Her embarrassment reached its peak, but she forced herself to stay calm and act indifferent.
"Anyway, that’s it! I’m going back first!"
Ignoring Elina’s teasing smile, she turned and ran off. No matter how hard she tried to appear composed, it was still unbearably embarrassing.
"Pfft! Rafine is so annoying!" Eira puffed out her cheeks in frustration.
She couldn’t understand Rafine’s reaction. It was just a book about how to conquer a man, yet she treated it like some forbidden text she couldn’t let anyone see.
Elina giggled softly. Eira was simply too innocent to understand the embarrassment Rafine felt.
"Oh, right, I just remembered something." She suddenly looked at Eira. "Little dragon, you can’t do this again, okay? The ’love nest’ mentioned in that book is for couples. You and my brother are master and pet."
She crouched down again and gently stroked Eira’s head.
"Eh? What do you mean?" Eira blinked in confusion. "Master and I are a couple! We’re meant to be together!"
Her eyes shone with determination.
Elina froze. Looking at Eira’s serious expression, she asked without thinking, "You don’t see my brother as your master... but as a man?"
"Mm! He’s my partner! From the memories I inherited, dragons pair up with those stronger than themselves. Master is much stronger than me, so it should be like that, right?"
Elina: "..."
She honestly didn’t know how to respond. Eira’s way of thinking was completely different from a human’s.
No matter how she tried to explain it, it would probably be useless in the end.
"Huh..." Elina let out a deep sigh with a wry smile. ’Rafine, you’ve got a new rival now.’
She glanced at the little dragon before her, whose face was filled with determination.
...
Half a month later...
"When are we going to arrive? I’m starting to get bored," Evalyn complained.
She rested her head on Nolan’s right shoulder while he was reading a book.
Nolan glanced at her and flicked her forehead.
"Ouch!" Evalyn winced, glaring at him. "What was that for? That hurt, you know!"
"Stop disturbing me while I’m reading. It’s annoying," Nolan replied flatly.
Whenever he tried to focus, she would always interrupt him.
Evalyn pouted at his response. Crossing her arms, she said, "I’m bored, Nolan. Play something with me."
Nolan closed his book and looked at her. "What do you want to play?"
Evalyn rubbed her chin for a moment before answering brightly, "Let’s play chess!"
"Chess?" Nolan raised a brow.
Evalyn grinned and rubbed the bracelet on her right wrist. It glowed faintly, and a chessboard suddenly appeared before them.
"Let’s play chess. But there’s one condition—the loser has to grant the winner’s wish. What do you think?"
Her brows lifted slightly, as if daring him to refuse.
"Oh? You want to raise the stakes?" Nolan smirked. "Fine. Just don’t regret it when you lose."
"Heh! You’re too confident, Nolan. Do you really think you can beat me? Keep dreaming," Evalyn said with a light giggle.
She often played chess with her father and could even beat him. So losing to someone like Nolan should have been impossible.
"Fine. I’ll remember those words. If you try to back out later, I’ll take it as breaking the rules."
Instead of feeling pressured, Nolan looked almost excited. A faint smile tugged at his lips.
Seeing that smile, Evalyn felt a chill run down her spine. For some reason, a bad feeling crept into her heart.
But she quickly pushed it aside and said confidently, "Relax—I won’t go back on my word."
Nolan didn’t reply. He calmly arranged the pieces on the board and began the game.
Ten minutes later...
"No way..." Evalyn’s eyes widened in disbelief. "How did I... lose?"
