Chapter 580: The Unveiled Truth (1)

Chapter 580: The Unveiled Truth (1)

"Where am I?"

Nolan opened his eyes, confusion filling his face. He found himself floating in a strange, obscure place.

Everything was grayish-black, silent, and desolate—yet at the same time, terrifying.

His eyes scanned every corner, but he still could not understand where he was.

"Am I in the void between space and time?" he wondered.

As the Singularity of Chaos, an expert in the power of space and time, he was highly sensitive to anything related to those two elements.

He tried to summon his power, but strangely, he couldn’t. It felt as if something was sealing it away.

His body continued to fall, with no idea where it was headed.

Nolan wasn’t afraid. He felt this situation might be connected to his earlier prayer.

"God of the Sun," he whispered calmly.

He was certain that figure had done this, so he chose to wait and see... what exactly her purpose was.

"Waaah... Waaah!"

Suddenly, the cries of two babies echoed out. At the same time, his surroundings began to change.

The gray darkness faded, replaced by a scene Nolan would never forget.

It was the moment he was first born into this world. His mother lay weakly on the bed, two small babies resting beside her—him and Elina.

His father, Ragan, stood at her side, worry clearly written across his face.

"Is this... a scene from the past?" Nolan whispered in surprise.

He did nothing but watch in silence.

"Hahaha! You did it, my dear! Thank you for your hard work," Ragan said with a hearty laugh.

His gaze softened when it met Isabella’s weak, exhausted eyes.

"Thank you, Your Majesty," Isabella replied softly. "And thank you for your support, which allowed me to give birth to our children."

Her eyes shifted to Nolan and Elina beside her, who were still crying loudly.

Ragan smiled, gently caressing Isabella’s head before turning his tender gaze to the two babies.

"They’re both adorable. The black-haired one is a boy, and the white-haired one is a girl—opposite-sex twins with completely different traits," Ragan remarked.

Opposite-sex twins were quite rare, at least as far as he knew.

The chances were incredibly slim. Who would have thought his two children would be born that way?

It was very different from the palace doctor’s earlier diagnosis.

"Yes, they are truly unique. The boy resembles me, while the girl resembles you. It seems the God of the Sun knew how much we love each other, Your Majesty," Isabella said jokingly.

"Pfft! You’re right, my dear," Ragan chuckled. Then he added, "Since you gave birth to them, I’ll give you the right to name them."

Isabella fell silent for a moment, her eyes filled with a mother’s love.

"Your Majesty, may I use names from my homeland?" she asked.

"Oh? From the Eastern Empire of Izanagi? Of course, my dear. Why not?" Ragan agreed without hesitation.

Isabella looked delighted. With anticipation shining in her eyes, she explained, "There is a famous legend in my homeland. It tells of twins who will save the world from disaster. The legendary name is... Hikari no Futago."

Nolan’s heart began to race. His breathing quickened as he whispered in astonishment, "Wait... don’t tell me..."

Before he could finish, Isabella gently stroked Elina’s and Nolan’s heads one after the other, then continued, "It is the legend of opposite-sex twins who will bear the burden of saving the world from destruction... Therefore, their names shall be Nolan Lorian, meaning courage and responsibility, and Elina, meaning loyalty and companion. I hope they will grow into figures like those in the legend."

Boom!

The scene before him shattered into black smoke that scattered in all directions.

At the same time, the space around Nolan returned to darkness and silence.

He continued floating in that mysterious place, confused and distracted.

"So... my mother already knew about the legend of Hikari no Futago, and that it was about a boy and a girl?" he wondered.

Prime Minister Mikazura’s words from that day resurfaced in his mind.

"Many people mistakenly believe the legend speaks of twin girls. In truth, it is about a twin boy and girl. I’m sure you understand what I mean, right?"

The doubts in Nolan’s heart slowly faded away.

"So... Elina and I are the ones mentioned in the legend," Nolan whispered weakly.

Now everything was clear. But one thing still confused him—why hadn’t his mother told him about it?

Why did she hide this secret from him? What was her reason?

As confusion clouded his mind, the scene before him shifted once more.

This time, it no longer showed his father and mother but something he had almost forgotten—his encounter with an old man who would change his life forever.

...

"Elina, do you have a moment?"

Rafine walked in, carrying a stack of documents in her arms.

"Hmm? No, I’m not busy. Do you need help?"

Elina quickly stood and helped her with the documents.

Once the weight in her arms lessened, Rafine let out a sigh of relief and smiled.

"Thank you," she said.

"You’re welcome," Elina replied as she returned to her seat. "So, what are these?"

She looked at the stack of documents on her desk with curiosity.

Rafine sat across from her and explained, "These are investment proposals from noble families who want to support you in the battle for the throne. Many of them are interested in investing in the town of Virella. What do you think?"

Elina didn’t answer immediately. She picked up a few documents and read them carefully.

"Do they have any conditions?" she asked, glancing at Rafine.

"No." Rafine shook her head. "They only ask for a one percent share of the profits. Their goal clearly isn’t money, but to build a relationship with you."

For now, the battle for the throne no longer seemed tense.

However, only those who were perceptive understood how dangerous the situation truly was. No one knew what would happen next or what kind of chaos might follow.

Because of this, many noble families who had previously supported Zarak and Cassian began shifting their allegiance to other candidates.

Among the four remaining contenders, Elina held the strongest position in terms of influence and status.

She controlled the town of Virella, had the indirect backing of the two largest trading houses in the empire, and enjoyed the firm support of the Austin family.

Who wouldn’t be tempted to side with a throne candidate as powerful as Elina?

"Heh... so that’s how it is..." Elina grinned and gave a slight nod. "It seems they’re afraid and want to declare their support immediately through investment. Rafine, do you think I should accept it?"

Rafine leaned back in her chair and replied calmly, "I don’t think so. Most of them just want to take shelter under your wing and secure their position once you ascend the throne. But they previously chose Prince Zarak and Cassian, which proves they aren’t truly loyal. It’s better to wait for now and let them offer something greater. You understand what I mean, right?"

Her eyes carried a hidden meaning.

Elina chuckled softly. "You’re right. Let’s do it."

Suddenly—

Thump!

Elina’s heart began to pound violently. At the same time, a sharp pain pierced her head.

A wave of intense dizziness washed over her, and she finally lost consciousness, collapsing to the floor.

"Elina!" Rafine gasped and rushed to her side.

She shook her shoulders in panic. "Elina! What’s wrong? Elina!"

But there was no response, and Rafine’s fear only deepened.

"What is really going on?!"
