The Hidden Extra: The Lazy Prince Refuses to Ascend The Throne

Chapter 588: The Chaos of Hinode (1)

Chapter 588: The Chaos of Hinode (1)

Nolan, Evalyn, and Kaede got off the horse-drawn carriage. They arrived at Hoshigawa Port, the first place they set foot on after their long journey from the central continent.

"Kaede, are you sure about this? I mean, this is selfish, you know? As a princess, you’re breaking imperial rules," Nolan said seriously.

He was still trying to persuade her. After all, the woman was as stubborn as his mother.

Kaede waved her left hand. "No need to persuade me anymore. I’ve made up my mind. Besides, I’ll just return after I meet my sister. You don’t have to worry."

Nolan was speechless for a moment before sighing deeply.

"Alright, I won’t persuade you anymore. But if you get into trouble, don’t blame me, okay?"

Since Kaede remained adamant, there was nothing he could do.

However, Nolan had another plan—to inform his mother and ask her to bring Kaede home immediately after meeting her.

He didn’t want his grandparents to think that he was the one who brought Kaede to the central continent.

"Don’t worry. I won’t bother you," Kaede replied confidently, patting her ample chest.

Nolan glanced at Kaede’s swaying chest and couldn’t help but compare it to Evalyn’s.

In terms of size alone, Evalyn was two points behind.

Sensing his lewd gaze, Evalyn quickly covered her chest and glared at him angrily.

"What do you mean by that look?"

Nolan’s face remained expressionless as he replied, "Nothing. Let’s get on the ship."

Coincidentally, his grandparents had prepared a private ship for him and Evalyn to return to the Great Velmora Empire.

It was a brown ship that wasn’t very large, but it was elegant and luxurious. Just by looking at it, Nolan could tell it was incredibly expensive.

The three of them boarded the ship and were greeted by the maids who had been waiting. But when they saw Kaede, they were stunned.

"Y-Your Highness? How did you get here?" One of the maids asked in surprise.

Kaede tossed her hair and replied, "I’m going with my nephew. Don’t ask too many questions, and don’t tell my parents. Understand?"

The maids were frightened when they heard that. They exchanged confused glances, but Kaede didn’t give them time to think and hurried further onto the ship.

"Let’s go," Kaede said enthusiastically.

She had wanted to meet her stubborn sister for a long time. Only then would she truly feel relieved and at peace.

Nolan looked at Kaede helplessly. Although she was as old as his mother, she still behaved like a child.

Just then, the ship suddenly shook violently. At the same time, the bright blue sky darkened.

"Eh? What’s happening?"

Realizing something was wrong, Evalyn quickly walked to the deck and looked up at the sky in confusion.

Nolan followed her, but a sudden sense of danger rose within him.

"Danger!"

He grabbed Evalyn and Kaede by the waist and jumped backward.

Boom!

A huge explosion erupted about two hundred meters from where they had been standing.

A sea dragon monster appeared in a terrifying form.

The monster was fifty meters tall, covered in black scales, with sharp fangs that gleamed menacingly.

Its sudden appearance brought all activity in the harbor to an abrupt halt.

Everyone froze in place, as if unable to believe what they were seeing.

Roar!

The monster’s roar rang out like an alarm bell, instantly snapping them out of their shock.

"M-Monster! Run!"

The shout sparked panic throughout Hoshigawa Port.

The ship’s crew and passengers quickly disembarked and fled toward the capital.

Seeing this, the sea monster didn’t let them escape so easily.

It opened its mouth, and a blue ball of energy formed within it. The air instantly turned cold, as if the temperature had dropped dramatically.

Whoosh!

The energy ball shot toward the merchant and transport ships lined up in the port, blasting them into pieces.

Some people didn’t have time to get off the ships and became victims of the attack.

Those who were still running were struck by debris from the exploding ships. Several were seriously injured, but most died tragically.

"This... What’s happening!?" Kaede cried out in fear.

Her purple eyes widened as she witnessed the horrific scene before her.

A sea monster had appeared out of nowhere, attacking with tremendous force that nearly destroyed the port—something completely unreasonable.

After all, the magical shield protecting the capital and the port should have made the appearance of monsters in this area impossible, including within a fifty-kilometer radius at sea.

But that reality shattered all her understanding—the monster was real!

"Princess, we don’t have much time! Save yourself immediately!"

Evalyn’s panicked voice snapped Kaede out of her daze. Nolan helped them to their feet, and they rushed off the deck.

The monster continued to hurl energy balls across the port.

The resulting chaos was horrific, costing many innocent lives.

Fortunately, their ship was docked at the far end of the port, giving them time to escape.

The maids had already fled, swept away by the overwhelming panic.

Just as they got off the ship, another energy ball struck it and sent the three of them flying forward.

Nolan quickly wrapped his arms around their waists again, using his body to absorb the impact.

"N-Nolan, are you okay?" Evalyn asked, her face full of concern.

Kaede also looked worried, staring at Nolan’s pale face.

Nolan waved his hand, reassuring them in a weak voice, "I’m fine. The most important thing now is to hurry back to the imperial palace and see Grandfather and Grandmother."

He still couldn’t understand how a monster could appear so suddenly. It was completely illogical.

The capital was protected by powerful magic shields—similar to those in Solvaria.

Yet, a few seconds later, his eyes widened in realization.

"The magic shield... is gone."

Those words stunned them both. Evalyn looked up at the sky, her face turning pale.

"You’re right—the magic shield is truly gone!"

"Impossible! That magic shield has stood for thousands of years!" Kaede exclaimed frantically. "No one can deactivate it except members of the imperial family who carry the blood of the Taira clan! My father definitely wouldn’t do that."

The magic shield was the foundation of the capital, protecting the city from enemy attacks. It was impossible for Ryuuten to remove it.

"Grandfather wouldn’t do that... but Ryuusei could," Nolan said coldly.

"R-Ryuusei?" Kaede’s eyes widened. "I-Impossible... he wouldn’t do that!"

Despite hating him, Kaede was certain Ryuusei wouldn’t do something so foolish. It would be no different from betraying the empire.

Nolan looked at her and let out a small sigh. The care and protection from Ryuuten and Ayamori had made Kaede somewhat naive.

In reality, only Ryuusei was capable of doing this. Nolan had expected the man to act after his departure, but he hadn’t anticipated that his actions would be this cruel.

’That man is truly courting death,’ he whispered.
