Chapter 614: Date and Surprise (1)
"Master, how do I look?"
Shion drew back the curtain and revealed herself with an entirely new appearance.
Before, she had worn a loose, dark red dress that made her look more mature.
Now, she wore a light blue dress with long sleeves, the skirt flaring gracefully to her ankles.
A soft, feminine aura radiated from her, like a tulip just beginning to bloom.
Nolan scanned her from head to toe and nodded appreciatively.
"So beautiful... you look stunning," he said genuinely.
He wasn’t just flattering her—Shion really did look breathtaking.
Her look had changed. She seemed younger and full of energy, but her new outfit didn’t take away the natural maturity she had, making an interesting contrast.
"Hehe..." Shion beamed at his praise. "Thanks, Master! I’ll go try on another dress."
"Okay. I’ll wait." Nolan didn’t mind at all.
In his previous world, he had once gone shopping with Seira at the mall, which had taken a long time. But Nolan was a man of common sense.
Wasn’t it normal for a woman to take her time choosing clothes?
If she rushed, she wouldn’t truly be enjoying it. So he stayed relaxed as Shion enthusiastically moved from one outfit to the next.
Besides, it was rare for him to see Shion in different dresses, and he wanted to see them all.
After half an hour, they finally left the clothing store. They didn’t carry a single shopping bag, as everything had been sent directly to the Blue Moon office in the city center.
"Where to now?" Shion asked.
Nolan glanced at the darkening sky. "How about dinner? I’ve reserved two seats at the restaurant I mentioned earlier."
Shion didn’t mind. She would follow Nolan anywhere—being with him was enough.
With that, they walked east toward the capital, heading to the restaurant Nolan had chosen.
...
"Welcome, Young Lady Evalyn."
The servants and guards bowed respectfully as Evalyn arrived.
She nodded slightly in return. After walking a fair distance, she finally stopped in front of a room—it was Nolan’s bedroom.
Taking a deep breath, she raised her right hand and knocked on the door.
Knock!
She waited patiently. Strangely, after two minutes, there was no answer. Her eyebrows furrowed in surprise.
"Is he asleep? But that can’t be... it’s getting dark, and His Majesty the Emperor would certainly punish Nolan if he were sleeping at this hour."
After a brief pause, she knocked again, louder this time, her voice calling out as well.
"Nolan, it’s me, Evalyn. Are you in there?"
Again and again, there was no answer from inside the room, and a creeping sense of unease settled over her.
"Don’t tell me... the man with Shion is really Nolan..."
Her heart thumped at the thought.
She recalled that Nolan often mentioned being close to one of the executives of the Blue Moon Trading House.
Evalyn had never seen this "executive" herself, but now it was dawning on her—the executive Nolan spoke of was almost certainly Shion.
She was sure of it. Blue Moon’s generosity toward Elina had always felt excessive.
Shion had funneled massive investments into the town of Virella, along with a series of other ventures.
If she were just an ordinary executive, there would be no way she could wield that kind of influence.
After all, Blue Moon claimed to remain neutral, never taking sides in the battle for the throne.
Evalyn’s breathing grew heavy, and her eyes began to sting with unshed tears. Suddenly, a voice called out from behind her.
"Evalyn? Is that you?"
Startled, she spun around and saw a beautiful woman with pink hair—Seira.
"Your Highness Seira," she greeted, bowing her head slightly in respect.
Seira smiled softly and stepped closer. "Hey, what are you doing here? Looking for Nolan?"
The question made Evalyn’s chest tighten, but she forced a smile and nodded.
"Yeah... I came to find him, but it looks like he’s not here."
Seira paused for a moment before speaking. "He really isn’t. I searched the palace earlier and couldn’t find him. I even asked Mother Isabella, and she said Nolan went out—probably to the capital."
Unbeknownst to Seira, her words made Evalyn’s fists clench tightly.
"By the way, what a coincidence you’re here. Want to have some tea?"
At first, Evalyn wanted to refuse. She had other matters—finding Nolan and calming her worries.
But seeing Seira’s hopeful expression, she relented and gave a hesitant nod.
"Alright."
Seira’s face lit up with delight, and she was about to turn when a voice came from behind them.
"Sister, Evalyn—what are you doing in front of my room?"
Both froze. They quickly turned and saw Nolan standing there, his expression a mix of curiosity and uncertainty.
"Nolan!?" they exclaimed in unison.
...
"What’s wrong, Master?" Shion’s curious voice called from the front.
Nolan shook off his thoughts and smiled faintly.
"Nothing," he replied, shaking his head. "By the way, how was the food? Delicious, wasn’t it?"
Shion smiled brightly. "It was amazing! The fish, octopus, and chicken were cooked perfectly—savory and just right. I don’t know how you even found a place like this."
She looked around the luxurious room. They had reserved a VIP space, so it was just the two of them. Still, the interior was elegant and far from dull.
"This restaurant belongs to one of the imperial ministers. My mother and I used to come here often," Nolan explained casually. "It’s been a while, but I didn’t expect the food to still be this good."
He sipped his coffee, taking in the surroundings. The restaurant stirred a sense of nostalgia.
Every two months, he, his mother, and Elina would come here without fail.
Because of their status, they never had to pay—but his mother always insisted on covering the bill herself, never accepting anything for free.
Unfortunately, since he and Elina turned fifteen, they hadn’t returned.
The reason? They were now burdened with the responsibilities of being prince and princess.
Well, it wasn’t that he was truly busy—it was mostly Elina. Nolan spent his time relaxing in his room or fooling around—at least, that’s how it appeared on the surface.
"So that’s how it is." Shion nodded lightly. "Master, how about—"
Before she could finish, Nolan cut her off.
"Don’t get any strange ideas. Don’t try to take over this restaurant."
Shion pursed her lips in protest. "You misunderstand! I just want to invest a little capital, that’s all!"
But Nolan remained firm. "No need. Unless this restaurant runs into losses, don’t interfere. Acting otherwise could put your position at risk later."
"My position at risk?" Shion frowned. "What do you mean?"
Nolan sighed softly. "You’d be seen as trying to monopolize the market."
