The Hidden Extra: The Lazy Prince Refuses to Ascend The Throne

Chapter 626: Going to the Royal Palace

Chapter 626: Going to the Royal Palace

Aldrian was at a loss for words. He hadn’t expected Seira to be so firm, leaving him no room to negotiate.

Still, he didn’t give up and continued trying to persuade her, but the result remained the same.

Just then, the Grand Master could no longer hold back and stepped in.

"How about we go to the palace first, Princess? Once we’re there, you can discuss it with Her Majesty the Queen and His Majesty the King."

The engagement between Aldrian and Seira had not been proposed by Aldrian alone—it was also supported by the royal family and had already been formalized.

That was why Seira could not simply cancel it on her own, as it concerned the pride and dignity of the royal family.

Aldrian’s eyes lit up. Since he couldn’t persuade Seira, he was certain his mother and father could.

After all, if Seira remained stubborn, it would be pointless. At the palace, he held the highest authority after his father. He could force her and, at worst, even confine her.

Seira belonged to him alone—no one else could have her.

Seira didn’t respond immediately. She furrowed her brow, as if deep in thought.

How could she not understand Aldrian’s intentions—and those of the old man beside him?

On the contrary, she understood them all too well. Yet, she couldn’t simply refuse.

Suddenly, Nolan touched her left palm. Startled, Seira turned toward him.

Nolan smiled and whispered, "Just accept it. Don’t be afraid—I’m here."

His words dispelled her doubts and fears. She returned his smile and nodded slowly.

"I understand."

She turned to Aldrian and said in a firm voice, "I agree. But I have a few conditions. My room must be next to Nolan’s, and then..."

Seira listed her conditions, and Aldrian raised no objections. Still, he felt slightly annoyed by her request to have her room next to Nolan’s.

Although he knew they were siblings, it still bothered him.

"Alright, I understand. I’ll grant all your wishes," Aldrian said affectionately.

Seira nodded and said nothing more. Only Nolan smiled faintly.

Everything was going according to plan, with only a few matters left to settle.

...

The Royal Family of Lyren was immensely powerful, controlling nearly every aspect of the kingdom.

Unlike the Great Velmora Empire, where four dukes governed the western, southern, eastern, and northern regions, the Lyren family ruled all territories directly.

Their royal system was absolute, and the nobles held no real power over their lands.

It could be said they were merely officials paid through local taxes, easily replaced at any time by the royal family.

That was why the Ancient Kingdom of Eron remained highly orderly, as its nobles lacked the courage to defy the Lyren family’s absolute authority.

Nevertheless, an absolute system of power often came with negative effects, especially on society.

The royal family was beyond criticism, including the king, the princes, and others.

This could easily breed discontent and hinder progress in technology, the economy, and other areas.

With so many interests entangled, it was difficult for society to advance.

Of course, the effects had not yet surfaced, as the current king was still regarded as wise in wielding his power.

But no one could guarantee whether the next king would follow the same path or turn authoritarian.

At that moment, the horse-drawn carriage carrying Nolan and Seira finally arrived at the royal palace.

The Ancient Eron Royal Palace was enormous. Although not as grand as an imperial palace, it was still vast and luxurious.

The courtyard stretched wide, with a towering statue standing at its center—four meters tall.

It was the statue of the founder of the Ancient Kingdom of Eron, Crimson Lyren.

The carriage passed through the courtyard before stopping at the palace’s entrance hall.

The servants quickly lined up, and one of them stepped forward to open the carriage door.

"Welcome, Princess Seira and Prince Nolan," the servants greeted respectfully.

Seira stepped out and gave a slight nod.

"Thank you."

Nolan followed behind, his gaze lingering on the palace with curiosity.

This was the second time he had entered a palace aside from an imperial one—the first being the Izanagi Imperial Palace on the eastern continent.

"Princess and Prince, His Majesty the King and Her Majesty the Queen are waiting for you in the throne room. Please follow me," the middle-aged man said politely.

Nolan glanced at him and noticed he looked different from the other servants. He was most likely the royal family’s butler.

Seira gave a slight nod without objection. Then, she and Nolan followed him inside.

The interior of the royal palace was both unique and magnificent. Statues of knights stood in rows on both sides, each spaced three meters apart.

Several paintings hung along the walls, each depicting men dressed in royal robes.

They were most likely portraits of former kings. After walking through a long corridor, they finally arrived before a three-meter-tall door.

As the door slowly swung open, the throne room came into view. Seated at the far end was a handsome man.

He had short gray hair, and his blue eyes carried an unsettling calm.

Clad in a white robe, his presence was so overwhelming that it made the atmosphere feel tense.

He was the king of the Ancient Kingdom of Eron in this era, Gulvar Leyrn.

Seated beside him was a stunningly beautiful woman. Her brown hair was tied into a bun, and she exuded a gentle, calming aura that could put anyone at ease.

But it all felt like a façade. Nolan could see the fierce ambition in her eyes, even as she tried to hide it.

That woman was most likely the queen, Melody Leyrn. Standing behind them were three people—two men and one woman.

One of the men was the prince and Seira’s fiancé, Aldrian. The man beside him was also handsome, but his expression was cold and indifferent, as if he’d just experienced the worst day of his life.

He bore a slight resemblance to Aldrian, yet several distinct features set them apart—such as their hair, eye color, and even their posture.

And lastly, there was the woman. She was strikingly beautiful. She shared no resemblance with Melody, so she was most likely the daughter of one of Gulvar Leyrn’s concubines.

Nolan smiled faintly and whispered, ’This is getting more and more interesting...’
