Chapter 634: Dancing With Seira
Chapter 634: Dancing With Seira
"The dance will begin shortly. Those of you with partners, please come to the center of the hall and let everyone witness your love!"
When the young nobles heard the announcement, their faces immediately lit up.
The dance was the event they had been looking forward to most—especially those who had partners or were betrothed.
It was their chance to show off their relationships to everyone present.
At once, the young nobles made their way to the center of the hall with their respective partners or betrothed.
There were quite a few of them—nearly half of those present.
Of course, many still didn’t have partners, so they could only gaze enviously at the men and women holding hands in the center of the hall.
Aldrian looked excited as the dance began. He had been waiting for this moment since yesterday.
With a broad smile, he walked toward Seira and was about to speak, but she suddenly walked past him, leaving him behind.
Aldrian froze in place. He watched as Seira approached Nolan, who was speaking with Elsa.
"Nolan, how about dancing with me?" Elsa asked enthusiastically, a hint of shyness in her voice.
Nolan was about to answer when Seira suddenly appeared and hooked her arm through his.
"Let’s dance," she said.
Seeing the hopeful look in her eyes, Nolan couldn’t bring himself to refuse and gave a small nod.
"Sure."
He then turned to Elsa and apologized.
"Sorry, I’m going to dance with my sister."
With that, he pulled Seira toward the center of the hall, leaving Elsa frozen in place, as if she couldn’t believe Nolan had turned her down.
Watching Nolan and Seira walk toward the center of the hall, the young nobles who were already there but not yet dancing were taken aback.
"What’s going on? Why is Princess Seira with another man?" a young woman asked hesitantly.
"I don’t know. But who is that man? How dare he take Princess Seira’s hand? Isn’t he afraid of dying?" a man said with a frown, glancing at Aldrian, whose face had turned dark, as if he had just eaten something disgusting.
The other young nobles also looked at Aldrian with pity.
They didn’t know the secret behind the engagement, but seeing the woman he loved walk onto the dance floor with another man was clearly agonizing.
"He is Prince Nolan Lorian, Seira Lorian’s younger brother. Don’t get any funny ideas."
A voice came from behind them.
The young nobles turned toward the source and found the Third Prince, Meliodas.
He had a handsome face, slightly long, bright golden hair, and a sharp gaze that could intimidate anyone at a glance.
However, the faint smile on his lips, almost like a sneer, stood in stark contrast to his cold expression.
"Prince Nolan Lorian? So that’s him!" one of the young nobles exclaimed in surprise. "He’s that useless prince, despised by the people of the Great Velmora Empire. I didn’t expect him to be here."
The others soon joined in, discussing Nolan. His reputation as a lazy prince was well known throughout the southern continent.
They even called him the "most repulsive prince" because his nature was completely at odds with that of a typical prince.
"I understand they’re siblings, but isn’t this strange? After all, Prince Aldrian is Princess Seira’s partner. Leaving your partner just to dance with your younger brother doesn’t make sense, does it?" a woman voiced her doubts.
The others nodded in agreement. They felt that whatever the royal family was hiding must be extremely important, allowing Seira to act so boldly and do as she pleased.
Unfortunately, they didn’t dare to probe any further. That would be no different from seeking death.
As they continued chatting, the lights in the hall suddenly went out. Moments later, several lights lit up the center of the hall.
They illuminated the couples as music filled the hall and the dance began.
Nolan and Seira held hands and started to dance. The dances performed by noble families across the continent were similar, except in the eastern continent, which had its own unique style.
As a result, their movements were in sync with the other young nobles.
"Why aren’t you dancing with Aldrian?" Nolan asked, stepping back twice.
Seira stepped forward, matching his rhythm, then replied in an annoyed tone, "How could I want to dance with him? Just looking at him makes me sick."
Aldrian’s bootlicking attitude truly disgusted her. If it weren’t for Nolan’s insistence, she would have returned to the imperial palace days ago.
Nolan chuckled softly. He slipped his left arm around her waist and raised his right hand to take her left.
Seira spun gracefully before her chest brushed against Nolan’s, then stepped back.
She then linked her left hand with his right again, moving back and forth in time with the music.
"After this, you’ll dance with Aldrian," Nolan said.
Seira frowned but didn’t refuse outright.
"Do you have a reason?"
Nolan gave a slight nod, his gaze drifting toward the young nobles who weren’t dancing.
It then settled on Karakh, Aldrian, Meliodas, Melody, and Gulvar as he spoke in a very low voice, "In half an hour, a major commotion will likely break out. The culprit is the Third Prince, Meliodas Lyren."
Seira was startled, but her expression remained calm, as if his words hadn’t affected her.
"What has he done?"
She naturally knew of Meliodas, but she had never met him in person, let alone spoken to him.
Tonight was the first time she had seen him face-to-face, so she didn’t know much about him.
"I’m not sure. Two days ago, I heard that some servants had set a trap at this party. So you need to be careful. Your task is to charm Aldrian so he doesn’t notice the danger approaching. After all, that trap was set by Meliodas for him. Can you do it?"
His suspicion that the Void Reaver Disc was inside Aldrian’s body was finally confirmed.
Just now, he had used his Chaos Eyes to peer inside Aldrian and discovered a strange, mysterious power he couldn’t explain.
That power protected Aldrian from within. As long as he was safe, it remained dormant. But if he was in danger, it would activate on its own.
So, Nolan wanted to take advantage of the coming chaos to see just how powerful the Void Reaver Disc truly was.
Of course, he wasn’t afraid. If he wanted to, he could force the artifact to reveal itself.
But why bother when someone else would do it for him?
That was why he needed Seira’s help—to draw Aldrian’s attention and catch him off guard. Only then would the Void Reaver Disc activate naturally.
Seira gazed into Nolan’s purple eyes. A moment later, she nodded with a smile.
"Alright, I’ll do it. But in return..."
She leaned close to his ear and whispered, "You have to grant me one request. How about that?"
