Chapter 661: Investigation Order (2)

Chapter 661: Investigation Order (2)

"There’s something in here!"

Everyone turned to Alex. Eldrin stepped closer and asked, "What is it?"

Alex held up the wine glass, still a quarter full, and said in a heavy voice, "I smell something strange coming from this glass. Take a look."

He handed it to Eldrin.

Eldrin took the glass and brought it close to his nose. He sniffed carefully and caught a faint scent—one that would be nearly impossible for an ordinary person to detect.

It was slightly fragrant yet carried a sharp, pungent undertone.

His eyes narrowed as he said coldly, "An aphrodisiac potion. Who put it in this glass?"

An aphrodisiac potion was a concoction that could heighten a person’s sexual desire. Judging by the scent, this one was strong enough to drive anyone who drank it into a frenzy, even to the point of losing consciousness.

And since this glass belonged to Seira, it meant someone had been targeting her.

"I don’t know. But I have a hunch," Alex replied vaguely.

Eldrin met his gaze and immediately understood.

"How certain are you?"

"Ninety percent," Alex replied with a conflicted expression. "What do you think? Should we report this to His Majesty?"

Eldrin placed the glass back on the table and shook his head.

"Not yet. We still haven’t found Princess Seira, and we haven’t located Prince Aldrian’s body. We need to investigate further."

A grim scenario formed in his mind: Aldrian had drugged Seira and tried to violate her—but Seira fought back and killed him.

It sounded absurd, but it was the most likely explanation.

Alex nodded, then turned to Rugard and asked coldly, "Who was the attendant assigned to this private room?"

Rugard panicked and quickly looked at his staff.

"Which one of you was on duty here? Speak up, now!" he demanded.

The staff exchanged anxious glances. As the tension grew, a server suddenly entered from outside and said in a trembling voice, "It was me, Manager."

Everyone turned and saw an ordinary-looking man walking toward them.

Rugard stepped forward and said in a heavy voice, "Karis. Explain exactly what happened to Prince Aldrian and Princess Seira. Remember—don’t hide anything, or you’ll face severe consequences."

The threat in his voice made Karis tremble.

"I-I’ll explain it!"

Karis began recounting everything. Alex, Eldrin, Rugard, Alina, and the staff listened closely.

But when he reached the part about Aldrian somehow making Seira faint, their eyes widened.

Alex immediately raised his hand. "Stop."

Karis froze and shut his mouth at once.

Alex glanced at Rugard, and Rugard instantly understood.

"All of you, get out. Now!" Rugard barked coldly.

The staff didn’t dare argue and quickly rushed out of the room.

Soon, only Rugard, Alex, Eldrin, Alina, and Karis remained.

Alex narrowed his eyes at Karis and said sharply, "Forget what you just told us. Understand?"

Karis nodded stiffly. "I-I understand."

Alex released the pressure he had been exerting, then asked, "Now, where are the two of them?"

Karis swallowed hard and answered, "They’re at the Seven Lights Inn."

"The Seven Lights Inn?" Alex and Eldrin were startled.

Their expressions turned serious, and without wasting another second, they rushed out of the room.

Alina bit her lower lip. She hadn’t expected her brother to commit such a heinous act against Seira.

And when she connected it to Nolan’s sudden disappearance, a deep sense of unease rose in her chest.

’No... I’m sure Nolan isn’t the culprit,’ she murmured, tears streaming down her face.

She was terrified that the truth might prove otherwise. If it really was him, her relationship with Nolan would be over.

...

Three kilometers from the capital of Altheris lay a vast grassland.

Under the night sky, a gentle breeze rustled the tall grass, creating a breathtaking scene.

At that moment, beneath the bluish moonlight, a black horse galloped swiftly across the plain.

Two figures rode on its back. The one in front, holding the reins, was a handsome man.

He was tall, with slightly long, tousled black hair and beautiful purple eyes that gleamed under the moonlight.

The figure behind him, clinging tightly to his back, was a stunning woman with long pink hair flowing down her waist.

They were none other than Nolan and Seira.

After killing Aldrian, Nolan had taken a horse near the inn and fled the capital of Altheris.

It had been half an hour since Aldrian’s death. By now, the palace should have already launched a massive search for the missing Nolan and Seira.

The night wind lashed against their faces. Nolan had imbued the horse with magical power, making each stride carry it far faster and farther than any ordinary horse.

"Sister, hold on tight. I’m going to speed up."

With that, Nolan tugged the reins. The horse surged forward, as if it were outpacing the wind itself.

Seira tightened her grip. Her face was pale—this was the first time she had ever experienced such a thrilling sensation.

And the fact that she was riding like this with her brother made it feel even more exhilarating.

Her closed eyelids slowly opened. She gazed at Nolan’s serious expression and murmured softly, ’I wish this moment could last longer.’

She hugged Nolan’s waist tighter and buried her face against his broad back.

...

Alex, Eldrin, and Alina immediately rushed to the Seven Lights Inn.

The luxurious inn looked deserted. Aside from a few staff members on duty, no one else was in sight.

As soon as they arrived, the receptionist greeted them politely. "I’m sorry, but the inn is currently closed. Prince Aldrian has reserved the entire building."

Her words startled the three of them. Eldrin quickly regained his composure and said coldly, "I am Eldrin, His Majesty’s right-hand man. Tell me—where is the prince now?"

The receptionist visibly stiffened. Her face turned pale as she replied, "Prince Aldrian is on the top floor, Your Excellency."

Eldrin nodded. Without wasting another second, he and Alex headed straight for the top floor.

Alina hurried after them. She needed to confirm whether Nolan was involved or not.

When the three of them reached the fourth floor—the inn’s top floor—they walked straight toward room 112.

Alex tried the door, but it wouldn’t budge. It was locked tight. Without hesitation, he kicked it open and stepped inside.

The moment they entered, Alex, Eldrin, and Alina froze.

The room was in ruins. The furniture had been smashed apart, and some of it had even crumbled into dust.

But none of that mattered. What truly caught their attention was the corpse lying on the floor, a dagger driven through its body.

It was the crown prince—Aldrian.
