The Hidden Extra: The Lazy Prince Refuses to Ascend The Throne

Chapter 708: Asking for Malverna’s Help

Chapter 708: Asking for Malverna’s Help

"Hmmm..."

Rafine carried a stack of documents, humming happily.

Elina noticed and asked teasingly, "What’s gotten into you? You look so happy. Don’t tell me Brother Nolan asked you out on a date?"

Rafine froze for a moment but quickly regained her composure and cleared her throat.

"Ahem! How could that be? You’re overthinking it."

She shook her head, trying to deny it. Unfortunately, Rafine didn’t know that every time she lied, her neck would turn bright red.

Elina simply giggled and said nothing. Among all the women around her brother, she was especially fond of Rafine—perhaps even more than Evalyn.

It wasn’t that she disliked Evalyn, but in her opinion, her brother wasn’t suited for a strong-willed and disciplined woman like her.

On the other hand, Rafine was laid-back yet firm. With her by her brother’s side in the future, Elina hoped her brother would become a better person.

"I understand." Elina nodded and changed the subject. "By the way, I need your help to wrap this up. Can you give me a hand?"

Rafine walked over and nodded.

"Of course. Leave it to me."

With that, the two of them continued their work.

Meanwhile, Nolan was relaxing in his room. To his right and left sat Obsidia and Malverna.

The two beautiful women massaged him with great care. Even Malverna, who had initially refused, now seemed indifferent, as if she had already accepted her fate as Nolan’s personal masseuse.

However, not long after, she noticed a change in Nolan’s expression.

"What’s wrong?"

Nolan fell silent for a moment. His hand gently stroked Eira, who was napping face-down on top of him.

"Malverna, Obsidia... do you believe in gods?"

The unexpected question startled both of them. They exchanged glances, as if trying to guess what he meant.

"Gods, huh?" Malverna furrowed her brow. "In the beliefs of the demon race, we have our own god—the Demon God. I’ve mentioned him to you before, haven’t I?"

"Yes, you have." Nolan nodded.

"I don’t really believe in him myself," Malverna continued, massaging Nolan’s left arm. "But ancient records mention that the Demon God is still among us. He watches over us, observes, and grants protection to those he deems worthy. Well... those are just records. The truth can’t be confirmed. And personally, I don’t believe he actually exists."

Malverna was unlike most previous demon leaders. Her thinking was simpler, and she wasn’t bound by those annoying ancient traditions.

To her, the best way to revive the demon race was through diplomacy—or even war—just as Ignis had once done.

Unfortunately, Ignis’s methods had been too brutal and excessive.

If only her disciple had taken a more peaceful approach, it would have been impossible for him to fall and for the demon race to be erased from history.

But what could be done? Everything had already happened... including Ignis’s death, which she believed was retribution for the betrayal he had once committed against her.

"I don’t believe in gods at all," Obsidia replied calmly. "In my opinion, they’re nothing more than manifestations of humanity’s belief in higher, more powerful beings."

She was a spirit, not a human. Her way of thinking was simple—she only believed what she could see.

The Ancient Kingdom of Eron itself had faith in its gods.

But what was the result? The kingdom had nearly collapsed in the past, and not even the prayers of the king, the royal family, and the entire populace could save it from destruction at the hands of the Demon Emperor.

After hearing their answers, Nolan didn’t criticize them. He respected their differences, including the beliefs of his two subordinates.

Then, without warning, he said something that caught both of them off guard.

"If I told you I’ve met one of the gods, would you believe me?"

"What!?" Both of them froze.

"A-A god? You actually met a god!?" Malverna covered her mouth in disbelief.

"Yes." Nolan nodded, his expression calm and unreadable. "It happened when I went to the Eastern Empire of Izanagi. Over there, I..."

He began explaining what had happened, including the mission the Sun God had entrusted to him.

Both listened intently, but their expressions gradually turned serious.

If anyone else had said such a thing, they would have dismissed it as nonsense.

But the one saying it was Nolan—their master.

It was impossible for him to make up a story just to deceive them, especially when his face remained so composed, without even a trace of the playful teasing he usually showed.

Malverna took a deep breath and asked, "How powerful was the Sun God you met?"

"Extremely powerful," Nolan replied without hesitation. "At that moment, he sealed off the dimension with his power. Space and time came to a standstill, along with everyone inside. I was the only one who could still move freely. You two can imagine just how powerful that god is, can’t you?"

Malverna and Obsidia also took deep breaths, suppressing the unease that began to rise within them.

A dimension was space and time itself. To seal it off and control both elements within it was clearly something no living being could achieve.

Even Nolan’s own control over space had not yet reached such a level.

Seeing the seriousness on their faces, Nolan chuckled softly and reassured them, "Don’t be so tense. Relax. The gods have no ill intentions toward us mortals."

Both of them unconsciously let out sighs of relief. Malverna looked deeply into his eyes and asked, "Is your goal now to find the incarnation of the Goddess of Life?"

"Something like that." Nolan nodded. Then he sat up and turned toward Malverna. "May I ask for your help?"

Malverna was slightly surprised, but she didn’t hesitate. She nodded immediately.

"Just say it. As long as I’m able, I’ll help you."

"I want you to reunite the demon race."

The request startled Malverna. But before she could utter a word, Nolan continued.

"Don’t worry. I’m not asking you to rebuild the demon race. I respect your choice to live a quiet life. I only want you to gather the demons scattered across the continent and have them search for the incarnation of the Goddess of Life. I’m sure the search will be easier, especially since the demon race has long been separated from civilization and has built its own underground network. What do you think? Can you do it?"

Malverna nodded without hesitation. "I can. Leave it to me."

As it happened, she had nothing else to do besides looking after Elina and Rafine. To be honest, it was boring, and she was starting to grow sick of it.

Besides, Nolan had been so kind to her, and she didn’t know how to repay him.

Helping him find the incarnation of the Goddess of Life seemed like the best way to return his kindness, though Malverna knew it still wouldn’t be enough.

"But what about Elina and Rafine?" Malverna asked hesitantly.

"Don’t worry about them," Nolan replied calmly. "Don’t I have another subordinate?"

Nolan glanced at Obsidia, who returned his gaze with a confused and innocent expression.
