Chapter 736: The Seventh Great Sage, Orrun Chrone

"So, can you tell me how you defeated Malgrion?"

Rei sat on the edge of the bed, looking at Evalyn with enthusiasm.

Evalyn nodded and began telling her everything. Since all the hero techniques she had used originally belonged to Rei, she felt there was no need to hide anything from him.

As Rei listened, his admiration grew to its peak. He smiled widely and clapped his hands.

"That’s amazing! Your skills are truly incredible!" he praised in awe. "I was worried you’d get hurt earlier, but it turns out I was wrong. You’re so strong! Could it be that you’ve inherited all my fighting techniques in the future?"

Evalyn felt proud of the compliment. She nodded and replied, "Yes, I’ve mastered everything. But there’s one thing I still haven’t been able to learn."

Her expression showed both embarrassment and helplessness. Rei immediately understood and chuckled softly.

"My fighting style?" he guessed.

Evalyn was startled and asked without thinking, "How did you know?"

But the next moment, she remembered Nolan. "Did Nolan tell you?"

Rei nodded without hiding it. "That’s right. He’s the one who told me."

Evalyn fell silent for a moment before smiling broadly.

"I see. By the way, Ancestor..."

She glanced around. "Where’s Nolan? Why don’t I see him?"

Earlier, she had thought Nolan would be there to greet her along with Roseline and Rei.

Strangely, he was nowhere in sight, which left her confused.

"Nolan..." Rei let out a small sigh and explained, "He went to take care of some business."

"Some business?" Evalyn froze. "What kind of business?"

"I don’t know." Rei shook his head. "He just said it was crucial—something related to the future of your era."

He shrugged, as if he truly didn’t know.

Of course, that was a lie. Nolan was currently heading to the Tower of Silence to investigate the magic that had transported both Rei and Lucas to this world.

However, he couldn’t tell Evalyn—because Nolan had asked him not to.

"So that’s it..." Evalyn pouted in annoyance, but there was nothing she could do. Nolan had always been like that, so she wasn’t too surprised.

"Relax. He’ll be back once he’s finished." Rei reassured her. "The most important thing right now is that I’ll help you learn my fighting style. What do you think?"

Evalyn’s annoyed expression vanished, replaced by a bright smile.

"Really, Ancestor? You’re not lying, are you?"

Rei smiled faintly. "Of course not. Why would I lie to you?"

"That’s great! Then once you’re fully recovered, let’s start training!" Evalyn raised her hands in excitement.

The cold, mature demeanor she always showed in front of others disappeared. What remained was a young woman who had regained her spirit and innocence.

Rei gazed at her with gentle eyes. Although Evalyn was his descendant from a distant era, a seed of affection was slowly taking root within him.

...

Tower of Silence, research room...

"Ugh... this is so annoying!"

The old man scratched his head in frustration. His gaze was fixed on the formula before him, depicting a magic circle nearly two meters in diameter.

The magic circle looked strange and unusual. While magic circles typically had only seven lines, this one had twenty, drawn over and over again.

"Hah..." The old man let out a long sigh as he rubbed his temples. "It seems recreating the same magic is truly impossible. What happened in the past must have been a coincidence... or perhaps the resources used back then were simply too vast—enough to summon those two people."

He shook his head slowly, then walked over to his desk. Picking up a glass of water, he took a sip.

As the cool water flowed into his body, he felt refreshed, and his mind gradually calmed.

"I can’t believe I can’t reproduce the same magic they used," he muttered irritably.

He was Orrun Crone—one of the Seven Great Sages of the Tower of Silence.

However, compared to the other six Great Sages, he was considered weak—one might even call him a failure.

He didn’t possess a large mana capacity, so he was unable to cast powerful spells.

His magical power was also low, and he grew exhausted easily after casting only a few spells.

Even so, the true value of his abilities lay not in his magic but in his research.

He had created many powerful spells, which were later added to the ancient archives of the Tower of Silence and studied by the students there.

Still, as one of the Great Sages, he felt deeply ashamed of his weakness.

That was why he now wanted to create a teleportation spell to another world, just as the other sages had once done when summoning the two heroes.

However, in his opinion, the magic they had used was flawed and full of shortcomings.

One of them was the need for enormous resources, along with the requirement for multiple celestial-level mages to cast the spell simultaneously.

Unfortunately, no matter how hard Orrun worked, he couldn’t complete it—and that only frustrated him further.

Just as he was considering whether to give up, a knock sounded at his door.

Knock!

"Great Sage Orrun, someone wishes to see you!"

Orrun snapped out of his thoughts and glared at the door in annoyance.

"Who wants to see me?" he demanded, his voice rising.

He walked over and opened it. A student from the Tower of Silence stood there, looking panicked and frightened.

"I-I don’t know him," the student replied timidly. "B-But that person said he could help you complete your research."

Upon hearing this, Orrun’s expression changed. The research he was currently conducting—Two-World Teleportation Magic—was known only to him and a few other Great Sages.

How could anyone else know about his research?

Could someone have leaked it?

No matter how hard he thought, he couldn’t find a reasonable answer.

"Take me to where that person is," he said urgently.

The student didn’t dare object and immediately led him to where the mysterious "guest" was waiting.

***

In the waiting room, a handsome man with black hair and purple eyes sat calmly.

His gaze surveyed the interior with a faint smile on his face.

"Just as expected of the Tower of Silence—this place has a peculiar sense of aesthetics."

Perhaps because they were mages, their perspective and taste differed from ordinary humans.

As Nolan waited, the sound of footsteps came from ahead.

He looked up and saw the student who had greeted him earlier walking alongside a short, elderly man with a thick white beard.

Nolan’s smile widened as he recognized the old man.

"The Seventh Great Sage, Orrun Crone..."
