Chapter 779: The Appearance of the Demon Emperor

Chapter 779: The Appearance of the Demon Emperor

"Dragon Technique: First Style!"

Rei suddenly vanished and reappeared right behind Margot.

He raised his sword and slashed straight at his neck.

As if he had anticipated the attack, Margot dodged it with ease. He then clenched his right fist and swung it toward Rei’s face.

"Die!"

Just before the punch could connect, Rei suddenly vanished from sight.

Margot froze. A sense of dread washed over him as his gaze snapped toward his sister.

There, he saw Rei standing behind her, his sword raised high before swinging it down.

"Marlan!" Margot screamed hoarsely.

Marlan tried to dodge, but it was already too late.

Slash!

The Divine Sword Luminus sliced cleanly through her neck.

Margot’s eyes widened. It felt as though time itself had stopped.

"Marlan!" he roared.

A surge of rage erupted within him. Demonic power burst from his body, tearing through both demons and humans nearby.

"Argh! Argh! No!"

Boom!

His demonic energy grew increasingly unstable. His eyes turned blood-red, and his body began to swell.

Watching the scene unfold, Rei remained completely calm. He closed his eyes and muttered, "Second Style..."

The next moment, he vanished and reappeared right above Margot.

Margot reacted instantly, throwing a punch straight at him.

Boom!

Rei was sent flying into the air. Margot crouched briefly, then shot after him like a cannonball.

"Die!"

Just as he was about to swing his right fist, something shocking happened.

His body suddenly became unbearably heavy, as if thousands of chains had wrapped around him. Before he could understand what was happening, he crashed back to the ground with a thunderous impact.

"Huh? What’s going on?" he asked in confusion.

He tried to raise both hands but failed. When he looked down, he realized they had been severed.

It wasn’t just his hands—other parts of his body had been sliced apart as well.

"H-How is that possible? When did I get hit by that attack?" he cried out in fear.

But he had no time to dwell on it.

Rei floated in the air, staring at him indifferently, as though he were already dead.

"N-No, wait! D-Don’t!"

Slash!

Rei swung his sword and cleanly severed his head.

"Die in peace," he said coldly.

Srrch!

Fresh black blood gushed from Margot’s neck. The sight made the surrounding demon soldiers tremble in fear.

"Ugh..." Rei suddenly felt his body weaken considerably.

Fortunately, he had expected this. He immediately planted his sword into the ground to support himself.

"How long will this weakened state last?" Rei asked heavily.

"About five minutes. During that time, you must endure it and avoid fighting. Otherwise, the effect will last even longer," Luminus replied seriously.

Rei gave a wry smile. He glanced at the demon soldiers around him, who were staring at him with fear in their eyes.

Suddenly, one of them noticed his condition and shouted, "Wait, something’s wrong with the Hero of Light! Why does he look so pale?"

Hearing that, the others immediately turned their attention toward him.

And sure enough, Rei’s face was pale, and his breathing had become noticeably weaker.

A suspicion began to form in their minds.

"Could he be exhausted?"

The demons exchanged glances, smirks slowly spreading across their faces. One by one, they raised their weapons.

"Attack!" one of them shouted.

Hundreds of demon soldiers immediately charged at Rei.

Rei remained calm. Just as the demons were about to reach him, a shadow suddenly flashed past him.

Slash!

With a single swing, dozens of demons were beheaded. The shadow didn’t stop there.

It leaped into the air, then landed in the middle of the demon soldiers and slaughtered them without mercy.

Within seconds, a hundred demons had fallen.

The demons who had been about to join the attack immediately stopped in their tracks.

They stared at the figure, which turned out to be Evalyn.

"Take one more step, and you’ll die," she said coldly, pointing her sword at them.

The demons swallowed hard and no longer dared to advance. They recognized Evalyn. She was the warrior who had led her army to conquer numerous cities, including Infernos.

Seeing her appear, Rei let out a long sigh of relief.

"Thank you for your help, Evalyn."

Evalyn glanced at him and gave a faint nod before turning her attention back to the demons.

A few minutes later, Rei finally regained his strength and walked over to her.

"How is your side? Have you managed to hold back the demons?"

"It’s under control, Ancestor. I’ve left the rest to the other soldiers. Her Highness Roseline has also taken over my position, so I’m free to move wherever I’m needed," Evalyn replied calmly.

"Good." Rei nodded in satisfaction. "By the way, the demon army’s forces have been significantly weakened. Now, we need to head to the imperial palace and face the Demon Emperor."

He looked up. Seven towers rose high into the sky—the towers representing the Seven Deadly Sins within the imperial palace.

Evalyn swallowed hard. The only time she had encountered the Demon Emperor was when he had taken control of Cassian’s body and wreaked havoc during the empire’s anniversary celebration.

She had never seen him in person before. And now, that opportunity had finally arrived, filling her with a strange sense of excitement.

After all, the Demon Emperor was a figure who had shaken the entire continent and stood as humanity’s greatest enemy.

"Oh, right! Where’s Lucas? Has he finished his fight yet?"

Just as Rei asked the question, a powerful explosion erupted to their right.

Both of them were startled and turned toward the source.

There, they saw Jaggermonth lying on the ground, unconscious. Lucas stood over him, his sword buried deep in his opponent’s heart.

His face was pale, and his breathing was ragged.

"Finally... finally... finally!" Lucas growled with a wide grin. "You’re dead too, you bastard!"

He yanked his sword free and then severed Jaggermonth’s head.

The sight left Evalyn staring in awe.

’Jaggermonth was actually defeated by him. He’s truly powerful.’

She had assumed Lucas would struggle and eventually need Rei’s help. But she had been wrong. The man was far stronger than she had imagined.

Rei watched the scene with a faint smile.

Although Lucas’s actions had been reckless, the outcome was still satisfying. With Margot, Marlan, and Jaggermonth defeated, victory was now only one step away.

"Let’s go to him," Rei said.

Evalyn nodded.

The two of them walked toward Lucas. Rei tossed a handkerchief his way and praised him. "Good work. You finally got your revenge."

Lucas caught the handkerchief and used it to wipe the blood from his hands.

"Thanks," he replied flatly. "If he had shown himself sooner, I would’ve killed him a long time ago."

Rei merely smiled and said nothing. That was just how Lucas was—arrogant and irritating. But he had long since grown accustomed to it and didn’t feel the need to comment.

"Time is running out. Let’s head to the Demon Emperor’s castle and kill that bastard."

Lucas nodded. They had endured the Demon Emperor’s oppression for far too long. Now, it was time to repay him a hundredfold.

Just as the three of them were about to move, dark clouds suddenly gathered across the sky. A thunderous rumble echoed overhead, shaking the earth beneath their feet.

"Impressive! Absolutely impressive! You weak humans possess far more strength than I expected. I underestimated you."

The moment he heard that voice, Rei’s eyes widened.

"That voice... the Demon Emperor!"
