Chapter 913: The One I Long For, Day and Night (What If)
Chapter 913: The One I Long For, Day and Night (What If)
A beautiful woman stood at the door. She had a flawless face framed by long black hair tied into two braids.
A pink headband sat on top of her head.
She wore a black dress that hugged her figure, paired with blue sneakers that gave her outfit a casual look.
But what stood out the most were her pink eyes.
They looked innocent, yet held a gentle warmth that was hard to describe.
Nolan recognized the woman immediately.
She was Seira, his fiancée.
"S-Seira...?"
His voice came out weak and slightly trembling.
Seira stood there in a daze, her eyes fixed on the handsome figure lying on the bed.
"Nolan...?" she called out, tears welling up in the corners of her eyes.
She walked toward him with trembling steps.
The closer she got, the faster her heart pounded.
When she finally reached the bedside, her grip on the bouquet in her left hand loosened.
She threw her arms around Nolan and hugged him tightly, making him groan in pain.
But what was a little pain compared to how much he had missed her?
Nolan endured the pain and forced himself to hug her back.
"Nolan... Nolan..." Seira called his name repeatedly, as if afraid the man in her arms was nothing more than an illusion.
"I’m here, Seira, my love."
Hearing his soft voice, Seira could no longer hold back her tears.
"Waaah! I missed you so much! Waaah!"
She sobbed as she tightened her embrace.
Nolan’s heart ached at the sound of her sobs. He closed his eyes and gently stroked the back of Seira’s head.
Eighteen years... no, nineteen years of longing were finally released through that embrace.
They held each other for five minutes.
Suddenly, Seira remembered Nolan’s condition and hurriedly let go of him.
"I-I’m sorry! I... I forgot you’re still injured and haven’t fully recovered!"
She took a few steps back, panic filling her face.
Nolan smiled and was about to tell her it was okay, but the pain spreading throughout his body quickly silenced him.
He winced, and Seira immediately noticed.
"I-I’ll call a doctor!"
"Wait!"
Nolan quickly stopped her.
With a stiff smile, he reassured her, "It’s okay. Most of my wounds have already healed. It’s just that I haven’t moved in two years, so my bones are still stiff and it’s hard to move."
"R-Really?"
Seira’s eyes welled up with tears, making her look like a cute little rabbit.
Nolan gave a slight nod.
"Have I ever lied to you?"
Seira wiped away her tears and said nothing more. Even so, she couldn’t bring herself to take her eyes off Nolan.
If anything went wrong or he experienced any complications, she could immediately call a doctor.
Seira picked up the bouquet of flowers from the floor and was about to place it on the table when her movement suddenly stopped.
Another bouquet of flowers was already sitting there. It was beautiful—and far more luxurious than hers.
"Was there a visitor before me?" Seira asked hesitantly.
Nolan chuckled.
"Yes, and that person is a friend of mine."
"A friend?"
The light in her eyes vanished instantly. She turned stiffly toward Nolan and asked in a cold tone, "Nolan, you haven’t been cheating on me since you woke up from your coma, have you?"
Nolan: "..."
The corner of his mouth twitched.
He had just remembered that Seira could be quite yandere and possessive.
Any woman who got too close to him would be pushed away by various means. Most of the time, intimidation was enough.
For some reason, he was reminded of his older sister, Seira Lorian. The two of them were surprisingly similar in some ways.
"Don’t overthink it. The person who came here was Carl Charles, my college friend."
"Carl?" The light slowly returned to Seira’s eyes. "How did he get here before me?"
Nolan rolled his eyes.
"I only woke up from my coma two days ago. Doesn’t it make sense that he would know about it?"
Seira felt that Nolan’s explanation made sense. A shy smile appeared on her face.
"I’m sorry, Nolan. I..."
Before she could finish, Nolan cut her off.
"It’s okay. Besides, you’ve been busy taking care of your family’s affairs."
Just like Nolan, Seira was the heir to a prominent family—the Aldridge family.
The Frey and Aldridge families had maintained a business partnership for over a hundred years.
For generations, both families had wanted to unite through a political marriage.
Unfortunately, both families had always produced heirs of the same gender—for example, a son and a son, or a daughter and a daughter.
It was only in Nolan and Seira’s generation that the two families finally produced heirs of different genders, making their arranged marriage a certainty.
"By the way, I’m going to peel this apple. Did the doctor say it’s okay?"
"Sure. Dr. Reina said I need to eat more fresh fruit. As long as I don’t overdo it and stay within safe limits, it’s fine."
Hearing that, Seira immediately grabbed the sterilized cutlery from the far end of the room.
The room Nolan was staying in was a VVIP suite—the highest class available, with a nightly rate that could exceed an average person’s annual salary.
Seira washed her hands before returning to the seat beside the bed.
She then began cutting an apple from the fruit basket Carl had brought.
Seira handled the knife skillfully, even carving the apple into the shape of an adorable rabbit.
"Open your mouth."
Nolan did as he was told. Seira placed the apple slice into his mouth.
"How does it taste?"
Nolan chewed it, and his eyes immediately lit up.
"It’s delicious!"
Seira breathed a sigh of relief. She had been worried that the apple might taste sour, though the possibility was pretty slim.
After all, the one who had brought the fruit basket was Carl—the heir to the Charles family.
"How are you feeling? Did the doctors say anything?" Seira asked.
Nolan smiled proudly.
"They said I’m doing just fine. In about a month or a month and a half, I should be able to go home."
"Really?" Seira’s eyes sparkled like stars. "I-If that’s the case, can we... go on a trip abroad?"
Her voice trailed off shyly.
She had been waiting a long time for Nolan to wake up and had already planned many dates for them.
One of them was a trip abroad—more specifically, to the Aldridge family’s private island.
Nolan paused for a moment, as if considering whether to agree.
Seira immediately tensed up, her expression becoming nervous and anxious.
Nolan occasionally stole glances at her, making her even more uncomfortable.
"Pfft!" Nolan suddenly laughed. "All right, let’s go."
Seira let out a long sigh of relief. But a moment later, she realized Nolan had been messing with her.
"Ugh! You’re so annoying!" she huffed, turning her face away. "I’m not talking to you anymore."
Nolan laughed and apologized.
"Okay, don’t pout. I was just joking."
Seira puffed out her cheeks before finally bursting into laughter.
"I was just kidding. Look—you fell for it too."
She playfully poked Nolan’s slender cheek with her index finger.
Nolan rolled his eyes and said nothing. He had just realized that Seira was actually quite mischievous.
"By the way, Seira."
Nolan’s expression suddenly turned serious.
"There’s something I want to ask you."
"Hmm? What is it?"
Nolan took a deep breath before slowly exhaling.
"I remember the accident I was in was really severe. Then..."
He looked deeply into her eyes.
"...How did I survive and end up in nothing more than a coma?"
