The Hidden Extra: The Lazy Prince Refuses to Ascend The Throne

Chapter 944: The Dragon Race’s Hero

Chapter 944: The Dragon Race’s Hero

The rain came down hard, showing no sign of stopping.

Virella was unusually quiet. The whole town felt tense, like something bad was about to happen.

High above the town a white-haired man floated beneath the dark sky.

He was tall and muscular, but most of his body was hidden beneath a black cloak.

Two horns stuck out from his forehead, and his red, slit-like eyes looked just like a dragon’s.

A few scales covered the right side of his face, making him look even more frightening.

He looked down at Virella with a cold, emotionless stare.

"So, this is the city of the one who killed my wife and child, huh?" he muttered coldly.

He raised his right hand, ready to unleash a devastating attack.

But suddenly, a cold voice came from behind him.

"Someone from the dragon race? Heh... I didn’t expect Cedric Lorian to be able to recruit someone like you."

The man’s body tensed. He turned around and saw a handsome man clad in a gray robe.

His hair was gray, as were his eyes.

Yet there wasn’t a hint of fear on his face as he stared at him.

The white-haired man narrowed his eyes warily.

"Who are you?"

He hadn’t sensed the man’s presence at all. Unless this man was his equal—or even stronger—he couldn’t think of any other explanation.

"You don’t need to know who I am. What matters is..."

Arnold smiled playfully.

"Since you dared to show up here, you can’t just run away like that."

The white-haired man furrowed his brow. But the next second, he smiled before bursting into laughter.

"Hahaha! That’s hilarious..."

He tapped his forehead with his right palm.

"This is the first time I’ve seen someone this arrogant."

He let out a sigh and shook his head.

"My name is Reinhard, the Ice Dragon of the Northern Continent."

"Reinhard?"

Arnold’s calm expression changed slightly upon hearing the name.

"Why? Do you know me?"

Reinhard smiled playfully.

Arnold didn’t answer. That name... of course he knew it.

Reinhard was the name of a legendary dragon hero from five hundred years ago.

He had once quelled a rebellion in the western part of the continent led by the Armageddon Coalition, a group of traitorous dragons that had turned against the imperial family.

Arnold never expected to meet Reinhard, the legendary hero himself. But as far as he remembered, Reinhard had disappeared five hundred years ago after a conflict with the Celestial Emperor.

So how could he be working with Cedric?

Seeing Arnold remain silent, Reinhard became convinced that he really did recognize him.

But he didn’t care. His goal was to ensure Cedric’s plan succeeded—and, of course, to avenge his wife and child, who had died at the hands of Virella’s leader.

"Don’t bother me if you don’t want to get hurt, kid."

Reinhard ignored Arnold and was about to unleash his full power against Virella.

Whoosh!

Arnold suddenly appeared right in front of him, gripping his arm tightly as he gave him a faint smile.

"Didn’t I already tell you? You mustn’t lay a hand on this city."

Reinhard was startled and glared at him angrily. But then, something even more shocking appeared before his eyes.

Arnold’s eyes had transformed into those of a dragon.

"Y-You... you’re a dragon too!?"

Arnold merely smiled.

"I know you’re strong. You were a hero five hundred years ago. As a fellow member of the dragon race, I respect you. However..."

A cold glint flashed in his eyes.

"I can’t let you do whatever you want."

Reinhard’s face darkened.

"Go ahead and try to stop me, if you can."

Sparks of hostility seemed to crackle between the two of them.

Boom!

Their fists collided. The deafening impact even drowned out the thunder rumbling in the sky.

Both of them were sent flying dozens of meters backward.

"Since you’re so stubborn, I don’t mind taking you on. But let’s move somewhere else."

Arnold snapped his fingers.

In an instant, both of them vanished from sight.

...

Boom!

Lightning flashed across the sky, followed by a loud clap of thunder.

Inside her office, Elina stood behind her desk, holding a sword in her right hand.

Second by second, time passed.

Suddenly...

Whoosh!

A shadow flashed in from her right.

Elina immediately drew her sword and swung.

Clang!

The sound of clashing metal echoed throughout the room.

The attacker was a man in a black cloak that hid almost everything about him.

"So, you really did come for me, huh?"

Elina smiled before shoving the man backward.

The man—Code 002—narrowed his eyes.

"Did you already know we were going to attack?"

Elina playfully twirled her sword, a faint smirk appearing on her face.

"What do you think?"

Code 002 didn’t waste any time. He crouched low before darting toward her like lightning.

But to Elina, his movements seemed painfully slow.

Clang!

Elina’s sword clashed with the man’s dagger. The two exchanged attacks in rapid succession, neither giving the other an opening.

"You let your guard down!"

Code 002 suddenly swung his dagger toward Elina’s neck.

But the opening he thought he had found never existed.

Elina suddenly twisted her body sideways, pulling her sword back before thrusting it straight into Code 002’s body.

Scrk!

The blade pierced his stomach.

Code 002 froze. His eyes widened in disbelief as he stared at the sword buried in his body.

"H-How could you...?"

Before he could finish, Elina pulled her sword free. His body slowly collapsed to the ground with a heavy thud.

Elina casually swung her sword, wiping the blood from its blade.

"Good job, Goran."

An indifferent voice suddenly came from behind the closet.

Elina turned around and saw a woman who looked exactly like her.

The Elina who had just defeated Code 002 suddenly transformed into a handsome, middle-aged man.

"I was just doing my job. But thanks for the compliment."

Elina smiled and gave him a slight nod.

"By the way, take care of the body. Dump it as far away as possible."

She pointed toward Code 002’s corpse.

Goran nodded, picked up the body, and carried it away.

The room fell silent. The faint smell of blood lingered in the air.

Clack!

The door opened, and Rafine entered with a worried expression.

"Elina, are you okay!?"

Elina smiled gently.

"I’m fine. How’s the situation?"

Rafine felt relieved upon hearing that.

"Things are a bit chaotic outside. Cedric’s forces have managed to push back the Shadow Guards. Even so, the situation is still under our control."

Elina nodded slightly, as if she had already expected that.

"Keep an eye on everything and report any developments to me."

After exchanging a few more words, Rafine turned and left. The servants were terrified by the sudden attack, so she needed to calm them down.

Elina walked over to the window and gazed at the rain, which continued to pour down outside.

"Cedric, you must think you’ve won, don’t you?"

She chuckled mockingly.

"Unfortunately... you’re too late to realize it. I wonder how you’ll react when the time comes... Hehehe..."
