The Hidden Extra: The Lazy Prince Refuses to Ascend The Throne

Chapter 989: Aldric’s Hidden Talents and Strengths

Chapter 989: Aldric’s Hidden Talents and Strengths

The Chutulus Highlands...

The Chutulus Highlands was one of the most fertile highland regions in the south.

Farmers from the surrounding towns used the land to grow fruits and vegetables such as apples, potatoes, strawberries, and more.

However, since it was a highland, the roads were naturally steep, making them difficult for large forces to traverse.

"Be careful. The road is very steep."

Aldric gave the order to the troops behind him.

"Yes, General!" they replied in unison.

Aldric stared ahead intently. They were now crossing the Troll Bridge, which was quite narrow and fragile.

Its foundation was natural, so it hadn’t been maintained or cleaned like most bridges.

As a result, even a single misstep could lead to the deaths of everyone crossing it, including himself.

Half an hour later, the force of over a thousand men had successfully crossed the bridge.

Aldric didn’t linger and quickly led his troops onward.

"We’ll reach the rebellion site shortly. Don’t let your guard down!" he shouted.

"Yes, sir!"

Suddenly...

GRR!

A growl echoed in the distance. At the same time, a thin mist drifted down from above, making it harder to see.

The troops panicked, but Aldric quickly calmed them down.

"Don’t worry. Everything will be fine! Stay where you are!" he ordered coldly. "And you mages, use wind magic to dispel this mist."

"As you command!"

The mid-ranked mages raised their wands and cast wind magic.

The mist that had obscured their vision vanished instantly.

But suddenly, a four-meter-tall giant appeared ten meters in front of them.

"A-A troll monster!" one of the soldiers cried out. "It’s the guardian of this Troll Bridge!"

Aldric narrowed his eyes without showing the slightest hint of fear.

Trolls belonged to the goblin family, but their appearance was far more terrifying.

Their bodies typically ranged from three to five meters in height.

They were also extremely vicious and would devour their prey, whether it was still alive or not.

Aldric had heard stories about trolls from the locals, so he wasn’t particularly surprised to see one appear.

"Still, that massive body gives me the creeps."

He himself was over two meters tall, which was already considered quite tall. But compared to the troll, he looked incredibly small.

Aldric dismounted his horse and drew the sword strapped to his back.

"Everyone, fall back. I’ll handle this myself."

Hearing his words, the soldiers were taken aback.

"Prince Aldric, are you serious? This is dangerous!" Vice General Drian exclaimed from behind.

He was a tall, sturdy man with a rugged face that reflected years of battlefield experience.

"It’s fine, Vice General. Have you forgotten who I am?" Aldric replied casually, thrusting his sword forward.

"But..."

Drian wanted to say something, but Aldric didn’t give him a chance. He crouched down before darting toward the monster.

"V-Vice General, what should we do?" the soldier beside him asked. "If Prince Aldric dies, Duke Malvain will have us beheaded."

Drian took a deep breath before shaking his head.

"Forget it. Don’t get involved."

His answer surprised them all.

"Since Prince Aldric says he can do it, then he definitely can," Drian continued with a bitter smile. "Don’t think of Aldric as just an ordinary crown prince—he’s a true monster."

His physical strength was terrifying, surpassing that of many people Drian knew.

Throughout Aldric’s military career, he had never lost a single one-on-one fight, or even a one-on-two.

No matter who they are, as long as they’re born into an imperial family, they’re bound to have incredible talent, he whispered.

Meanwhile, the battle between Aldric and the troll raged fiercely.

Boom!

The troll’s mace smashed into the ground beneath them. Aldric managed to dodge backward, but a piece of debris struck the right side of his face.

"Tsk! You’re really a pain."

A smirk appeared on his face. He crouched down, then sprinted toward the troll and leaped into the air.

"Feel my attack!"

He raised his sword overhead before swinging it downward.

The troll wasn’t about to back down and parried the blow with its mace.

Boom!

The clash between the two weapons created a deafening explosion.

The soldiers hurriedly covered their ears. Then, when they looked ahead, they were shocked.

Aldric hadn’t been knocked back as expected. Instead, the troll’s foot had sunk a meter into the ground under the force of the attack.

Aldric landed and immediately swung his sword in a swift, precise motion. The troll monster backed away to avoid the attack.

"Hahaha! What’s wrong? Why are you running away?"

Aldric burst out laughing.

"Come on, fight me!"

Provoked by his words, the monster leaped into the air and raised its mace.

Aldric didn’t flinch. He swung his sword to the side and struck.

Boom!

The shockwave shook the surrounding trees.

The monster’s immense strength should have crushed Aldric, but he stood there without a scratch.

"Hahaha! I thought you were strong, but I guess I was wrong. Alright, let’s finish this boring fight!"

He shoved his sword forward, forcing the monster to stumble backward.

Before it could regain its balance, Aldric crouched down and leaped toward it.

Slash!

His sword sliced through the monster’s neck. A second later, its head was severed and fell to the ground.

Its body collapsed moments later.

Aldric landed safely, then rested his sword on his right shoulder.

"Is that all? How disappointing."

Gulp!

The soldiers swallowed hard and exchanged glances.

Aldric’s strength had far exceeded their expectations.

Only Drian remained calm, though he could barely hide his smile.

Aldric wiped the blood from his sword before sheathing it on his back.

He then walked back to his horse and mounted it.

"Congratulations, Your Highness. You’ve grown stronger since the last time we met," Drian praised, clasping his hands together.

Aldric merely smiled.

"Let’s continue our journey."

...

Blue Moon Trading House headquarters...

Shion was working through a stack of documents when she suddenly heard a knock on the door.

Knock!

"Sorry to interrupt you, Miss Shion. You have an important visitor."

Shion froze. She set down her pen and asked, "Who is it?"

"His name is Nolan Frey."

Shion’s expression immediately stiffened.

"Nolan Frey?"

She quickly stood up.

"Please let him in!"

The door opened, and Nolan walked in with a casual expression.

"Welcome, Master. I’m sorry I couldn’t greet you," Shion said sheepishly.

Nolan waved his hand.

"No worries."

He looked around the room, a sense of nostalgia washing over him.

It had been a long time since he’d last been here, and he’d missed this place quite a bit.

"Please have a seat. I’ll make you some tea."

Nolan didn’t refuse. He sat down while Shion prepared the tea.

When she was done, she set the cup on the table and sat down next to him.

"So..."

She moved a little closer to Nolan.

"What do you need from me?"

Her voice sounded shy.

Nolan: "..."
