Chapter 2117: Code Regix
Chapter 2117: Code Regix
Lex groaned as he picked himself up off the ground, feeling genuinely like he’d been punched in the gut. Not only had the teleportation been so sudden that he, even as a Heaven Immortal, could not react, but it had been quite forceful.
Dao Lords aside, it would even take some effort for Celestials to take Lex by surprise like that. Hurting him - or at least making him feel so uncomfortable - would require even more effort. There were, generally speaking, not many things that could actually harm him.
So then, for a mere teleportation to achieve as much was no small feat. But that was only the beginning, for the environment in this place was incredibly uncomfortable.
Lex hadn’t needed to breathe ever since he became an Immortal, but being here felt like he was breathing in air but no oxygen was coming into his lungs. Basically, it was suffocating! What’s more, there was thick smoke in the air that not only made his eyes itchy, but his skin also felt like it was being continuously pricked.
The discomfort could not actually harm him so Lex ignored it - he was mainly just surprised that he was uncomfortable in the first place. Almost by instinct, Lex tried to pull out the Bathroom slippers since they would reduce the effect of the environment on him, but realized that he could not access the Inn! To be clear, his connection with the system was still active and present, but he could not access the Inn!
Lex slightly frowned, and first took stock of his surroundings. He seemed to be in a dark room that had been abandoned for a long time. The furniture was in ruins, whether from age or from being ransacked, he could not tell.
The room felt prehistoric - literally. Lex was completely certain that he had never been anywhere as old as this room, the Primordial Garden and even Abaddon included. Beyond just that, the room was filled with a tangible yet ethereal weight. It was as if monumental actions or decisions had been made here - the kind that had altered the very shape and history of the universe. It was a sensation he had never felt before, but he knew that it was absolutely true.
Despite the many peculiarities of this room, there seemed to be no immediate danger, so Lex turned his attention towards his system to see what notifications he’d gotten!

Lex read all the notifications many times, and then rubbed his eyes. Of course he was being punished for being too skilled. At this point, he didn’t even blame the system. What could the poor system even do if his performance was so damn great that it surpassed the highest rank possible, which was called Life, and thereby activated some kind of secret protocol within the system itself?
On a side note, it was good to know that Life was ranked above Death because how depressing would things be if it was the other way around.
Lex sighed. So there was no reward, huh? Or was this Code Regix the reward? Getting sucked into a black portal into a dark and dusty room, unable to sense Jack or the rest of the universe, sounded like one hell of a reward.
Lex sighed, and began to carefully explore his surroundings. The room was not too big, and the furniture inside seemed like it was designed for humans - or humanoid beings. Thick layers of dust covered everything, though he wasn’t too surprised about that.
Everything, despite being extremely old, did not give off any significant aura indicating any value. Even so, everything was incredibly tough. Appearances aside, as Lex touched one of the sofas and exerted some strength, it became obvious to him that he would not be able to break it no matter what he did.
His first exploration of the room had been very careful, yet he didn’t find much. He also did not find any exits, so then he started to search a little more thoroughly.
This time, while he searched the room, he ended up accidentally touching a crystal orb that was hidden below a pillow. His spirit sense hadn’t been able to detect it, so when he brushed against its cool, tough surface he was surprised.
That surprise continued to grow when the orb rolled over, before beginning to glow softly, as if coming to life. For the first time in an unknown number of years, a hint of light shone in the room, not that it mattered.
The orb scanned Lex using a laser, and then paused.
"How in the Nine Hells of Pentagal did a Heaven Immortal trigger Code Regix?" a shocked, almost horrified voice asked, emerging from within the orb.
Lex blinked, unsure of how to answer that question, but there was something about the voice that he heard that made him not take it seriously at all.
He held up his right as if flexing his muscles, and patted his biceps.
"Using this," Lex answered.
