The Innkeeper

Chapter 2133: What do you want me to say?

Chapter 2133: What do you want me to say?

Eclipse and Nulli were still in the midst of their discussion when the Primordial tribulations began. Even though Eclipse had all her abilities sealed, it wasn’t like she was totally inept. When the energy of the tribulation spread through the realm, both of them were able to sense that something was going on.

"What’s that? A human?" Nulli asked, looking at Lex from afar, suddenly finding that despite his weakness, she already had a fond, nearly endearing opinion of him.

"That would be Lex, the Innkeeper’s son," Eclipse said. "He’s not a bad kid. Too skilled at provoking trouble for himself, from what I can tell, but not a bad kid."

Nulli furrowed her brows and sniffed the air, if sensing something.

"The aura of time on him is thick, and the scent of the Timekeeper is also present. This is one unusual family - what are they planning? Do you think they will cause any problems for us?" she asked, revealing none of the noneserious attitude she revealed in public.

"Unlikely," said Eclipse. "I cannot say for certain what the Innkeeper’s goals are, but he’s from Nuwa’s camp, so he won’t cause too many problems. Moreover, I suspect that they are aiming for the Ruins of Ascencion, so the Primals are more likely to be bothered by them than us."

Nulli took another sniff, and seemed even more confused.

"That’s not all. I can see he’s getting his Primordial aura through the tribulations, but I detect a faint scent of another Nullith on him. I think he’s been in contact with a Nullith halfbreed."

Eclipse shook her head, not really caring about any of that.

"Nulli, your habit is becoming worse. You can’t go around sniffing people - it’s weird," she said. She honestly couldn’t be bothered about whatever plans the Innkeeper had. After meeting the man, she could judge that he held no thoughts of harming her or her interests. There were few things besides his Inn that he cared for. If only there were more people like him around, Eclipse would have fewer troubles.

"Do I smell the scent of a Primordial Sun Crow on him? Did you really give one to the Innkeeper?" Nulli asked, shocked.

Eclipse, meanwhile, rolled her eyes. She couldn’t help but wonder when exactly Nulli had picked up this bad habit of using her nose to sense people’s secrets.

Meanwhile, Lex was struggling for his life. One would think that with all the recent upgrades he experienced, the Primordial tribulations would be easier for him, even if only a little. They would be correct. Lex was much stronger now, and in many areas.

So the reason he was struggling was not because of the legendary difficulty of the Primordial tribulation. Instead, it was because he had overdone it in avoiding the tribulations. He had grown so much that when his cultivation could no longer be held back by the seal, breaking through, Lex provoked multiple tribulations all at once!

This was no longer a back-to-back tribulation situation. Instead, he was undergoing multiple tribulations all at once, each one with the respective power reflecting the level they were associated with - a level Lex had not technically reached yet.

Lex did not question if such a thing should even be possible. Even if it was impossible, for the sheer consequence of causing him trouble, it would become possible - of that he was sure.

Instead, he used this opportunity to practice his headline. Each lightning bolt slammed into him with a vengeance, doing its best to destroy every fiber of his being. While that didn’t happen, he did suffer severe burns with each strike, his skin carbonising. Healing from that was a difficult endeavor, especially since healing as an immortal was far from easy.

He was in the midst of recovering when another lightning strike hit him directly on his scalp, burning his hair and shocking his brain.

Lex solemnly swore never to seal his cultivation so intensely ever again. This was too brutal.

Unable to hold on in the face of such an immense challenge, Lex was forced to transform into his Jorlam form!

While his dragon form naturally boasted a better defense, and his Lotus form could naturally absorb more energy, the Jorlam form had access to a more abstract concept of power, making it somewhat easier for it to deal with the numerous tribulations.

Nulli, who had only just stopped staring at Lex and had returned to the conversation she was having with Eclipse, suddenly turned over.

"What the hell? Since when can humans do that?" she asked, shocked.

"So he has a few forms. What’s the big deal?" Eclipse asked. "Just let him be. You can’t be interested in the son and the father. That’s a little too much, don’t you think?"

Nulli’s jaw dropped upon hearing the accusation.

"I am not interested in both the son and the father!" she exclaimed. "But I’m pretty sure humans can’t just turn into Jorlam whenever they wish."

Eclipse looked at Nulli, and then towards Lex in the far distance. She genuinely couldn’t see what the big deal was. Then again, her perspective was slightly askew due to her own unique experiences.

"I mean, I don’t know what you want me to say. He’s the Innkeeper’s son, so of course he’s a little strange. But as far as I know, the Innkeeper does not interfere with his cultivation, so this is all him. If you really want, you can go talk to him once he’s done with his tribulations. I once even stole some of the energy from his tribulation but he wasn’t bothered in the least."

Now it was Nulli’s turn to be shocked, but for entirely different reasons.

"You did what? Your abilities are sealed - how did you steal energy from his tribulation?" She asked, dumbfounded.

"With my hands, naturally," Eclipse answered, confused about Nulli’s confusion. But then she decided to lay the blame on her turning pink. Pink Nulliths had a severe drop in IQ, at least in her opinion, and clearly Nulli was still suffering some of the side effects.
