The Innkeeper

Chapter 2152: Indipendant Army

Chapter 2152: Indipendant Army

The Origin realm was vast, bigger than even many Mature realms. Even as a Heaven Immortal, it was impractical for Lex to teleport across the realm from one planet to another using only his own teleportation capabilities - especially since he was bringing Paul with him wherever he went. It would be much easier to simply use the existing teleportation facilities available in the Origin realm.

Or that was the original plan until Lex actually arrived within the Origin realm.

Paul, sleep deprived and anxious as he was, looked around left and right, confused about why everyone was ignoring them. Lex had not moved at all from right in front of the Immortals who were questioning them, yet they were acting as if they could no longer see him. Instead, they were sniffing the drinks Lex gave them.

"What... what’s going on?" Paul asked hesitantly as he looked from the immortals towards Lex.

"Huh? Oh, I thought your mental and physical state weren’t all that great to accompany me on this mission so I used a small rejuvenation technique to refresh you. It’s better than coffee, trust me," answered Lex.

It was at that moment that Paul realised that he was actually in a much better state than when he left the Midnight Inn.

"No, I’m talking about them," Paul explained, pointing towards the Immortals. "Why are they suddenly acting like they can not see us?"

Lex glanced at people all around them, none of whom seemed to be able to detect Lex and Paul despite them standing out in the open. They weren’t even using invisibility, and they were talking at normal volumes, yet no one seemed to be able to sense them regardless of how strong they were.

"I’ve prevented them from creating any karma with us," answered Lex. "That means let alone interact with us, they cannot even sense our existence. It’s a high level application of karma that is far beyond what most immortals can even begin to understand."

Even Lex himself might not have been able to wield karma so effortlessly and fluently had it not been for the fact that he had witnessed and studied the karma of the Eclipsecrawler’s Sentinel in that area cut off from the universe. His comprehension of karma had developed tremendously in just that short period.

As if that was not enough, Lex spent approximately thirteen months meditating, increasing his cultivation as well as digesting all the gains he got from his interaction with Regix. That had loosely allowed him to gain a preliminary control over his Dao Body.

The control was still too weak, which is why Lex usually kept his tenet sealed. However, at least now Lex had some basic confidence in using it when and as he wished. This was one such instance.

To control Karma effectively enough to block anyone from forming any karmic connections with them, he had to use his tenet. His many other ways of controlling Karma were not optimal for the situation.

Thus, while using Karma, he also used his Dao Intentions technique. The result was that even in a base filled with Celestial Immortals, no one could detect him, no matter what he did.

"Forget all of that. Do you know where your beloved might be?" Lex asked as he began to walk in a certain direction. "From what I can sense, most major junction planets - planets with a significant importance to the Henali for any reason - have been besieged. The whole realm is at war, and I suspect that the extent of this war goes far beyond just those limits."

As they were walking, Lex noticed a random person walking towards them wearing a shirt that said BeeJay, using some kind of phone-like device.

"Here, let me borrow this for a moment," said Lex as he grabbed the phone out of the guy’s hand and did a quick search on it. Just as he suspected, the phone allowed him to connect to the Henali portal, from where Lex could quickly check up on the status of the war across the Origin realm.

Meanwhile, the BeeJay guy was looking around, searching for his phone, wondering how it disappeared right from his hands.

"Look, not only are all the planets besieged, there are even certain barriers that have been erected preventing travel to and from key galaxies," Lex explained as he showed Paul the phone. "Getting anywhere is going to be a bit of a hassle."

Paul read through the information, only understanding bits of it. He’d never been anywhere other than the Midnight Inn, so his understanding of the outside universe was limited.

"Her name is Mei Saito, and she’s an elf," Paul told Lex. "She’s stationed with an army called the Evergreen Lancers. From what I recall, she said she was fighting in the Tsu Galaxy, or Tsu battlefield."

Lex paused, and looked at Paul for a moment. He then looked back at his phone, and then looked at Paul one more time.

"Uh, is everything okay?" Paul asked, observing the strange behavior.

Lex kept looking from the phone towards Paul, before showing him a picture.

"Is that Mei?" he asked, just to be sure.

Paul was surprised suddenly being shown a picture of Mei, but he also felt relieved.

"Yes, that’s her," he answered. "Even though I haven’t seen her in uniform before, I am sure of it. That’s her alright."

Lex raised a single eyebrow, but then said nothing. Internally, though, he gave Paul a nod. The man clearly had game.

Meanwhile, far away in the Tsu Galaxy, one of the galaxies closest to the central galaxy of the Origin realm, where the Henali home base was, a devastating war was taking place. An army composed solely of Celestial Immortal Elves was sweeping through all obstacles, entirely unstoppable in their advance.

At the forefront of that army, leading it right from the front, was an Elf warrior clad in green armour, wielding two long, silver blades of moonlight. Much like Jotun, the leader of this army was closely affiliated with the Henali, though she didn’t work directly for them.

Once the battle was finished, the leader contacted the nearest Henali commander.

"This is Mei Saito, leader of the Evergreen Lancers Independent Army. We’ve cleared sector 12, what’s next?"
